Bree fights to save a life. Cash questions his future. Remi spirals.
Extended Summary
Cash finds Remi staring into space by the beach and Remi admits he’s just killing time. Cash suggests he park his bike somewhere else. Remi asks why Cash cares when he’s not a cop anymore and Cash decides he doesn’t. He admits he’s not ready to explain what happened to Eden so suggests they go get something to eat. Meanwhile, Leah is slowly walking along the road, disorientated. She sees a car coming but doesn’t react until she walks into it, realising it’s real. The driver gets out and asks what happened. She asks him to help them.
Cash and Remi are having a drink at Salt. Cash admits he’s been suspended for at least three months. He asks about Kirby’s launch. Remi is pleased they ended the feud and went to it, and says he’s not going to be the reason Kirby gives it up, even though Cash has heard from Eden that it’s not what she wants anymore. John arrives and asks Cash if he got his messages, explaining about Irene and Harper being arrested.
John and Cash go to the police station as Irene and Harper are being escorted by an unhelpful constable, Hendricks. She says Cash shouldn’t be there but Cash retorts that Irene and Harper shouldn’t be either so Hendricks gives them two minutes together while she checks the food John has brought. Cash explains he doesn’t have the power to help them and all of them find it suspicious that they were arrested just as Cash was called away. Hendricks takes Irene and Harper through to the cells.
Justin is still lying unconscious as Leah tells someone where he is. Someone cuts through the locked door and Leah rushes in with a collection of paramedics and workmen. She collapses and is tended to by the workmen as Paramedic Bellamy looks after Justin. At the Lyrik house, Eden and Bree discuss how late Remi is. They hear him coming back as Bree gets a call from work. Eden tries to talk to Remi about him ignoring her messages but he simply heads off for a shower. Bree tells Eden she has to go back to work since she’s on call.
Bellamy brings Justin into the hospital and hands him over to Bree, saying he’s been dehydrated for three days and also has crush injuries including a pneumothorax which has been decompressed. Leah is brought in, in a wheelchair, and asks if Justin is all right. Later, Bree comes to see Leah in a cubicle and says Justin has internal bleeding and also a punctured lung from when he broke his ribs. However, with the dehydration, surgery is too risky and he needs to be stabilised first. Even though Bree wants her to continue getting fluids to rehydrate her, Leah demands she be disconnected and taken to Justin. Bree wheels her through and Leah says she gave up but Justin never did.
John and Cash pull up back home. Neither can understand why Irene and Harper have been arrested. John says the whole system’s rigged and Cash says he’s not sure he wants to be a police officer anymore if he can’t help people. He goes into the Lyrik house and tells Eden about his suspension before he and Remi share a beer. Eden tries to tell Remi that Kirby’s dealing with the contract issues but Remi says he won’t hold his breath and thinks Kirby’s throwing away her career and Lyrik’s finished.
Later, Cash morosely tells Eden that it’s absurd that Irene and Harper have been arrested and he hasn’t, and that punishing them helps no-one. Remi appears and pours himself a drink, exchanging only curt words with Eden before heading back to his room with the bottle. Next morning, Eden approaches Remi outside the house and tells him they’re having a band meeting to discuss how Theo and Kirby got on in the city. Remi insists there isn’t a band and refuses to take part. Eden refuses to let him ride his bike and, heading inside, takes his keys. Remi tries to take them off her and Cash steps in. Remi storms off.
Irene, Harper and John watch as Hendricks finalises the paperwork: They wonder why the magistrate couldn’t have fitted them in yesterday, since it took less than fifteen minutes, and are all scornful about the idea of it being justice, as is Cash when he turns up to clear his desk. Harper tells him they’ve pled guilty. Cash notices a Vita Nova file on his desk and looks at it while no-one is watching. He tells the others he’ll catch them later.
Cash heads to the hospital where Leah, still at Justin’s bedside, tells him it was Vita Nova and they were angry at being shut down. Elsewhere in the building, Eden tells Bree she’s worried about Remi. Bree says he invested everything in Lyrik and the album. Eden says it’s not healthy for him to be moping in his room and drinkng on his own, and she’s convinced Kirby is genuine. Bree says she’ll talk to him but gets an emergency call. She rushes to Justin’s room, where alarms are going off, and says to prep him for surgery, telling Leah and Cash they have no choice.
