Extended Summary

Harper and Dana have a race on the beach, which Dana wins by elbowing Harper out of the way. She implies Harper taught her the trick as Harper trips her up. They then see two police officer approaching. Dana drily wonders what the chances are that they’re just there to ask about their day. Meanwhile, Irene is brought to the police station by Rose. She complains that Rose told her everything was fine and arrested her in front of everyone. Rose says she’s just doing what she was told and asks Irene to wait until she can take her statement.

Outside the Lyrik house, John asks Eden where Cash is. Eden says he’s been called to police headquarters for another meeting with Anti-Corruption. John explains about Irene being arrested. Theo and Kirby arrive; they know she was arrested for hindering a police investigation but not what it’s about. John says he’s going to see Irene and to let Cash know he was looking for him. Eden tells Theo and Kirby, who were hoping for a band meeting, that Remi isn’t there, and guesses he’s doing session work. Kirby says she was hoping to get the details of the entertainment lawyer to get her out of her contract, then recalls Justin met him. Theo reminds her Justin’s on holiday but agrees to call him.

At that moment, Justin is still lying unconscious in the abandoned factory. Leah, crawling along a horizontal gantry above him, calls out to reassure him that she’s there. She manages to reach the end of the gantry and haul herself onto a flat surface, near a ladder. She calls out that there’s another room and she can see light.

John joins Irene at the police station, explaining about his failed attempt to find Cash. He tells her not to say anything but “No comment” until her lawyer gets there. Irene realises she hasn’t called them. Harper is brought in, closely followed by Dana who tries to remind Rose of what Madden did to her. Rose says she’ll have to leave if she can’t calm down and Harper convinces Dana to be quiet. Rose takes Irene through.

Eden unsuccessfully tries to get hold of Remi on the phone. Kirby wonders if Remi even wants her back. Eden suggests he doesn’t want to get his hopes up, which Theo understands. Eden says there is no Lyrik if Kirby can’t get Forrest to release her from her contract. Kirby is confident he will and decides to see where he’s at.

Leah reaches the bottom of the ladder and starts following the light, eventually finding her way out into the open, surrounded by abandoned buildings. She staggers along and comes across a tap, but when she turns it on, only a few drops of dirty water come out. She takes in where she is: In the middle of deserted bushland with only one empty road.

Irene talks to Rose, confirming that she went away for two weeks and as far as she was aware Harper was alone in the house, with her not finding out about Dana until she got back. Rose points out she still didn’t call the police. Irene says she believed Harper and Dana. Out in the reception area, John is unable to get hold of Irene’s lawyer. Harper wonders why this is happening to Irene and John blames her and Dana.

Kirby is sharing a rather futile phone conversation with Forrest, eventually saying that they’ll talk later. She tells Eden and Theo that he just said the single’s gaining traction and the label are looking forward to the next one, telling her to take time to rethink her decision. She insists she’s not going to change her mind but worries she might not be able to get out of the contract.

Rose shows Irene out of the interview room and tells her to wait. John tells her he left a message with her lawyer but she’s gone home for the day. Rose calls Harper through. Dana apologises to Irene but Irene tells her she went into it with her eyes wide open and doesn’t regret anything. Meanwhile, Eden tries to say Forrest can’t make Kirby work for him but Kirby worries he’ll sue her. Theo points out Forrest has always supported her and Kirby agrees things might work out if she can talk to him. Eden wants to get legal advice but Kirby decides to talk to Forrest now and Theo decides to go with her.

Leah staggers around the abandoned road, increasingly delirious. She sees a car coming and calls out to it but as it reaches her, it disappears. She sinks to her knees in despair. Later, she is continuing to lie near the road when she sees Justin approaching and wonders how he got out. He asks her what the plan is but she says there isn’t one: They’re in the middle of nowhere.

With Rose supervising, Irene and Harper have mugshots and fingerprints taken and sign the papers. Later, Harper tells John that Rose is on the phone to the magistrate trying to arrange a slot. Rose says the paor aren’t not hardened criminals but eventually gives up and says there’s nothing until tomorrow. Dana thinks that means they can go but Irene realises that’s not the case. Rose confirms they’ll have to stay there for the night. Harper points out the police can grant bail but Rose says her sergeant’s said no. Harper asks John to take Dana home. John agrees, saying he’ll be back to see Irene afterwards. Dana tells Harper she’ll be back in the morning with some clothes for her.

Leah is barely conscious as Justin, his voice increasingly distant, tries to convince her to get moving. Leah snaps at him, saying this was his fault for believing the lies and stopping to help with the breakdown. She apologises but still can’t move. Later, Justin tells her she needs to get up but she protests she’s tired. Justin tells her she promised. She eventually jerks awake and finds Justin gone: The real Justin is still unconscious inside the building.
