Felicity spells it out for Tane. Cash snaps at Eden. Can Justin turn away a homeless Marilyn?

Extended Summary

On the balcony at Salt, Felicity argues that being scared is a good reason for not wanting children. Tane thinks she’s basing her decision on things that might never happen. Felicity says the reason doesn’t matter and he should respect her decision like he said he would. She asks if she’s still enough and Tane insists she is and he’ll be fine, leaving her to get on.

Back at the Parata house, Cash gets himself a beer and tells Eden he’s already answered her question about what he’s going to do: He doesn’t know. Eden suggests that talking to her might help him decide. Cash tells her to focus on her own career, since neither of them’s in a good place at the moment. Eden leaves, annoyed.

Harper and Dana walk through a park area. Harper tries to assure Dana that Cash might not lose his job despite being suspended. Dana wants to make it up to him anyhow. Harper tells her that both she and Cash knew what they were getting into. She suggests they focus on what Dana is going to do next. Meanwhile, Eden answers the door to Cash, who apologises for snapping at her again. Eden apologises for pushing. Cash says she’ll be the first to know when he works out what he’s doing.

At the Diner, Justin suggests to Leah that, if Alf comes home and Marilyn’s living with them, it’ll look like they’re taking sides. Leah tells him to spit it out and Justin asks her to withdraw the invitation, saying Leah was in Cyprus last time they had Marilyn to stay and he wants to feel comfortable at home. He suggests Marilyn move in with Irene but Irene says she has her hands full with Harper and Dana. Marilyn turns up, ending further discussion: She still doesn’t know when Roo’s coming home.

Later, Marilyn tells Irene she’s writing a list of everything that needs to be done before Roo comes home: Clean the bedsheets, restock the fridge, make downstairs comfortable and put handrails in the bathroom. Leah offers to restock the fridge and Justin offers to do the handrails. Leah gets a phone call from Roo and tells everyone she’s being discharged tomorrow. Marilyn admits she wishes Roo had phoned her.

Cash meets up with Harper near the beach: Neither of them liked where they left things. Cash says Eden’s protective but shouldn’t have spoken to her the way she did. Harper says Eden didn’t say anything she wasn’t already thinking and both she and Dana are sorry he got in trouble for helping them. Cash assures her it’s fine. He sees Tane nearby and goes to talk to him. Tane doesn’t want to talk about what happened with Felicity but Cash refuses to drop it.

Back at the Diner, Harper tells Dana that Cash doesn’t blame them and suggests getting on with her life. Dana says she wants to go back to nursing but not to her old hospital since there’d be a lot of gossip. Irene asks if Harper’s planning to go back to her old job and Harper isn’t sure. Irene says they’re both welcome to stay as long as they need to.

Leah has restocked the fridge and freezer at the caravan park house. Justin comes down from putting the handrails up and makes pointed comments to Marilyn about how the caravan park is closed and all the vans are empty and Roo could need someone close at hand to help her out. Leah tries to send Justin out to sweep the veranda as Marilyn muses the point and eventually concludes that she’ll have to drop by as often as she can. Justin gives up and goes to do the sweeping.

Tane admits to Cash that he knew what Felicity wanted when they got married but hoped she’d change her mind. Cash says they had to have the conversation. Tane says he never had a plan before Felicity and he’ll have to focus on the life they have.

Outside the Lyrik house, Felicity complains to Eden that it was her choice to make but she doesn’t like that she had to hurt Tane. She asks Eden what she’d do. Eden says she and Cash are still too new to think about children. Felicity says she wishes she and Tane could just enjoy each other. Eden points out that Felicity freaked out about getting married but came round to it, so it’s not a surprise Tane thought the same might happen here. Felicity accepts the point but still says it’s a no.

Later, at the Diner, Irene serves Cash three helpings of chips for a family meal. Dana tries to offer to pay. Irene wonders why Cash is suspended even though Dana’s in the clear. Cash says Dana’s innocent but he still broke the law. Irene and Harper think him protecting Dana should count for something and Cash says it might after the review. Irene wonders what it means for her and Harper.

Felicity finds Tane near the pool. Tane says he’s happy just being together and her reasons don’t matter. Felicity says it’s a definite no for now. Tane picks up on the ambiguity. Felicity says she’s changed her mind on a lot of things but may never change her mind about this and needs him to be okay with that. At the Diner, Cash suggests that the others being civilians might make a difference, but the DPP might want to make an example of them. He heads home with the food and Irene goes back to work. Dana suggests she and Harper keep her company. Nearby, Justin complains to Leah that Marilyn could be with them for weeks or months. Leah says she can’t handle Marilyn staying with all this complaining but Justin has to be the one to tell her.

Cash returns with the food and tells Tane, Felicity and Eden that he’s decided to not get angry about his suspension and just enjoy his time off and go with the flow. Felicity is bewildered, recalling he didn’t take a day off from school, but Tane thinks it’s a good way to live. Cash claims he’s fine with Eden’s suggestion of pyjama days but his expression tells a different story.

Justin cautiously goes round to see Marilyn, who is busying herself getting downstairs ready for Roo. She tearfully says she wishes she didn’t have to move out and it’s lovely of him to invite her to stay. She goes to get her bags, leaving Justin looking awkward. Later, Leah smiles as Justin turns up with Marilyn. They send Marilyn to get settled in and Leah tells Justin he’s a good man. Marilyn calls out asking Justin for help with her bags and Justin wearily trundles after her.

At the Diner, Harper and Dana are helping Irene close up. Dana tries to suggest the police would have gone after Harper by now if they were going to. Irene sends the pair on ahead, saying she’ll get some ice cream and they can curl up in front of the telly. After the others have gone, she looks apprehensive.
