Extended Summary

Tane and Mackenzie walk on the beach. She asks about Felicity’s first counselling session and Tane admits she found it frustrating. They see Mali staggering out of the water and collapsing into the sand. They help him further up the beach while another passerby retrieves his board. Mackenzie protests Mali was told not to surf until he’d healed. Mali says doctors aren’t always right. Mali says it looks like they are this time.

They help him back up to the surf club and sit him down. Mackenzie wants to call a doctor but Tane says there’s no cure for doing something dumb. After Mali assures him he’s fine, he goes to open up the gym. Mackenzie wants to call Rose but Mali says she’s busy with the hearing and already knows he’s an idiot. He assures her he’s not going to surf again. Mackenzie says she’ll get changed and to meet her in Salt in five minutes for a water and paracetamol.

At the police station, Cash is looking through the video clips in the office. He hears Felicity in the main part of the station and goes to the door. Felicity says she wants to see the footage. Cash doesn’t think it’s a good idea but Felicity says he doesn’t have a choice. She goes into the office. Cash thinks Eden shouldn’t have told her and says he didn’t want to give her false hope. Felicity says she needs to be a part of it. Meanwhile, Alf and Marilyn arrive at the Diner. Irene asks about Roo and they say she’s still on life support. Irene offers Marilyn time off to attend the hearing but Marilyn says she couldn’t face the CEO. Alf says he’d like to give him a piece of his mind.

Mackenzie checks on Mali at Salt. He explains about his worries about the business with not being able to do surf lessons. Mackenzie recalls she had financial worries at one point and when she finally spoke to Alf, they sorted out a new payment plan. Mali doesn’t want to ask Alf a favour. Mackenzie asks what his Plan B is.

Felicity convinces Cash the footage might trigger a memory for her. Cash sits her down and steps out of the office to call Tane, who is running a class on the beach, telling him what’s going on and to get down there. Tane cuts the class short, saying he’ll credit them all for an extra session. Cash checks on Felicity continuing to watch footage.

Tane runs into Mali outside the surf club, dropping equipment in his hurry to get out of there. Mali offers to close up the gym for him, saying he owes Tane for earlier. Tane heads to the police station where Cash shows him through into the office where Felicity is. Felicity isn’t happy to see him or that he closed the gym, saying he’ll just be a distraction. She tells Cash to stop treating her like his little sister. Cash and Tane leave the office and Cash admits he’d get any other victim to view the footage. Tane says Felicity isn’t any other victim and to keep an eye on her.

Mackenzie brings Mali a sandwich at the board shop. Alf turns up and thanks Mali for helping Roo, saying she wouldn’t still be with them if he hadn’t and to come to him if he needs anything. Mackenzie is astonished that Mali lets him walk away. By the coffee cart, Marilyn gets a phone call from Rose and tells Irene that the CEO has pleaded guilty. She says she’s relieved that part’s over but still worried about Roo. Irene says hopefully they’ll be able to celebrate together soon.

Felicity continues to watch the footage, looking closely at certain faces, but ends up walking away from the desk in frustration, telling Cash she’s looking for a needle in a hay stack. Cash tries to convince her to take a break for lunch but she refuses. He says he’ll bring something back. After he’s gone, Felicity soon looks away from the screen.

When Cash returns, Felicity’s sat on the floor. She asks how many cases like this he’s worked on. Cash says too many. Felicity asks what the chances are her attacker will never be caught and Cash says she has to prepare for the possibility. With a bit more pushing, he admits the majority of cases like this go unsolved.

Mackenzie comes downstairs at the surf club to find Mali ringing up one of his surf clients apologising and saying to let him know if they want to find another instructor. Mackenzie asks if he couldn’t just send a blanket e-mail but Mali thinks all his loyal customers deserve a call. Mackenzie reminds him of what Alf said. Some time later, Mali goes to see Alf in the office but bottles it. With some encouragement from Alf, he explains about his troubles. Alf suggests they put his rent on hold until the surf lessons restart. Mali says he’ll pay back all the money then. Alf agrees.

Tane is boxing in the back garden as Cash and Felicity arrive back. Felicity says watching the footage didn’t get her anywhere. Cash says they haven’t given up yet and Tane says they just need one break. He suggests she goes back to counselling. Felicity doesn’t think it will help and snaps when Cash suggests it could teach her coping mechanisms, saying she’s scared it will never end. Tane gives her a hug.

At the Diner, Irene tells Alf and Marilyn that John’s being released from hospital and she’s going to pick him up. She shows them an article with a statement by Stunning Organics. Alf reads that the new CEO, Carey Fielding, has denounced her predecessor, saying he was fired for misconduct some weeks ago and his actions don’t reflect on them, before telling all their customers and brand ambassadors they intend to carry on.

Cash is back in the office, looking through videos and making notes. He sees Felicity and Bree at the gig and ends up overturning the desk in frustration.
