Extended Summary
Felicity tries to talk to Cash outside the surf club, but he mostly brushes aside her questions, asking if she’s seen Justin. He sees Justin coming back from the beach and approaches him, learning he’s been surfing and hasn’t checked his phone. He says they need to talk. As they arrive back at the Morgan house, Justin says they need to get Andrew away from Vita Nova before he ends up dead like Esther. Cash says to let the task force handle it. Justin asks why he told him if no-one’s going to do anything. Cash says he thought Justin might want to know. As he leaves, Justin sarcastically asks if he’s going to deal with a cat stuck up a tree.
Roo finds Irene and Marilyn at the coffee cart and tells them Marilyn’s interview has been published, with the article referring to a one-woman campaign against corporate greed and corruption and how Stunning Organics have declined to comment. Irene checks there’s been no new threats before declaring Marilyn’s won. At Salt, Eden laments to Felicity that, since the rehearsal went well, she’s got no reason to complain about Mercedes. Felicity isn’t really listening however, being more worried about Cash.
Justin turns up at the police station and asks to talk to Cash. He insists they don’t have time to wait. Cash says they need evidence of a connection between Esther’s death and the cult. Justin wants to find it, prompting Cash to invite him through and remind him they’re meant to be flying under the radar. Justin says he’s going to sit there until he gets answers. Cash says it’ll be hard to get forensics after ten years. Justin wonders how the body was found and Cash suggests an old lead and new technology. He reminds Justin Andrew didn’t want to come with them before. Justin says Andrew doesn’t know the full story.
Felicity discovers Eden already knew that Cash had been taken off the case and was investigating anyway. She reminds her of what happened the last time Cash went rogue and wants Eden to talk to him. Eden refuses, however. She knows Cash feels responsible for letting Andrew go off with Margot. Felicity understands but worries he’s not thinking clearly. Eden wants to trust his judgement.
Cash brings Justin a drink of water. Justin asks who’ll tell Andrew about his mum. Cash thinks the taskforce will tell him once they’ve got a search warrant. Justin says it should be him. Cash says Margot could report them if they go back to the compound. It would be kidnapping if they took Andrew, and with Justin on a court order, he’ll end up in prison and unable to help Andrew. He drives Justin home and asks if he’s told Leah. Justin says he’ll tell her when she comes home tomorrow. As Cash leaves, Justin wonders if he thought being a cop would be like this, not saving the day because of red tape.
At the Diner, Roo tells Marilyn that the article has gone viral and been shared over a hundred times. She also has lots of requests for interview, including a TV producer working on a series about corporate fraud who’s offering $15,000. Marilyn says that could get a lot of exposure for the victims and decides to think about it. Irene sends Marilyn to take supplies to the coffee cart before telling Roo that Marilyn’s safety needs to be their priority. Later, Roo turns up at the coffee cart to check on Marilyn. Marilyn says she wasn’t expecting all this attention so Roo suggests she doesn’t do the interview. Marilyn agrees. As they talk, someone takes photos of them.
Cash arrives at Salt, where Felicity quips that she thought he’d do something stupid. He tells her and Eden that Justin expects him to saddle up and save the day, and he’s beginning to think that maybe he should do that. Felicity tries to talk him out of it but Eden thinks someone needs to get Andrew out. Cash meets up with Justin outside the surf club and tells him they’re going to get Andrew now. Justin says he thought they’d have a plan. Cash says the uniform and the cop car is the plan, and to not give him time to change his mind.
Cash drives Justin to a spot where he pulls in, pointing out a fence and giving him some cutters to get through it. He says he’s going to cause a distraction while Justin sneaks in and gets Andrew. He tells him not to tell him about his mother. Cash drives to the gate on his own and sounds the siren. The requisite tough-looking types turn up and escort him in.
At the coffee cart, Marilyn is on the phone to Alf, saying there’s nothing to worry about and to give her love to Martha. As she ends the call, she gets a message full of photos of her with Roo on the beach and at the cart. The last one has the message “Shut up. You’ve been warned.” plastered across her mouth.
Margot walks through the compound with some henchmen, the propaganda message playing. Justin sneaks around as Cash pulls up in his police car. Margot talks to the men with him over the radio, saying to keep him there. Justin finds Andrew working in one of the outbuildings and tries to get him to come with him. Andrew says Justin shouldn’t be there and it’s not safe. He shoves him out of the building, calling out that he’s there. Other cult members grab hold of him.
