Extended Summary

Ziggy greets Mackenzie after she’s been surfing. Ziggy is now off bed rest. Mackenzie comments on Ziggy running the board shop and wonders where Dean is. Ziggy says he’s at Jai’s parent/teacher day and they both pity the teachers given the mood he’s in after Justin lost them the car. Meanwhile, Leah wakes Justin by banging on a pan above his head and asks him what he’s going to do. Justin says he’s going to get a coffee and suggests losing $1000 and his dignity and spending the night on the couch is punishment enough. There’s a knock on the door and Justin hopes Leah hasn’t invited Dean over: It’s actually Irene, who’s walking Leah to work. Leah makes it clear Justin’s staying on the couch until he’s done something. Irene follows her out, mouthing apologies to Justin.

As they arrive at the Diner, Irene tells Leah she feels sorry for Justin, noting John can wind people up. Leah says he cheated at a charity event and blew $1000 of their money, which Irene has apparently heard before. Alf chimes in from a nearby table that he nearly ruined Marilyn and Roo’s hard work. Leah says he needs to do something to make up for it.

In a park area, Bree (complete with surf board) spots Remi and calls out to him. Remi ignores her and nearly succeeds in walking away before she blocks his path. Remi says he’s giving her the space she wanted. Bree says she’s ready to talk now but Remi says he’s not the person she should be around.

Mackenzie approaches Ziggy at the surf club with a bacon and egg roll. Remi comes in but his mood is somewhat muted as he heads upstairs. Mackenzie goes after him. Justin arrives and Ziggy says he’s lucky Dean isn’t here: She could have driven there in a brand new car but had to catch the bus. Justin is slightly bemused that Dean made her do that before saying he wants to make it up to her.

Upstairs, Mackenzie brings Remi a hot drink, saying it’s not a bribe but a peace offering. She recalls last time he was in this mood it was about Bree and says she’ll be at the bar if he needs a shoulder to cry on. Remi says he’ll take her up on that but not where they are.

Walking outside the surf club, Justin tells Ziggy he let his competitive side get on top of him. Ziggy says he shouldn’t have cheated. Justin says he’d like to be able to buy them a car but, with the $1000 he gave away and how things are at the garage, things are too tight. He suggests talking it over when she comes back to work. Ziggy sees Bree and says they’ll talk later. Justin suggests they do lunch, and wonders if her vague wave in his direction is a maybe. Ziggy joins Bree and says Dean told her about Jacob and she’s sorry how she spoke to her at the hospital. Bree says she deserved it and shouldn’t have reported Dean. Ziggy says Bree deserves better than Jacob. Bree bursts into tears and says she’s made a mess of things.

They walk in a park, with Bree saying she owes Ziggy and Dean an apology and made assumptions about them based on her and Jacob. Ziggy says they’re in her corner now. Bree says she’s been pushing Remi away and admits they’re not just friends: She’s been cheating on Jacob with him. Ziggy says she was cheated on before Dean and what Bree’s doing isn’t that, it’s surviving.

On the balcony at Salt, Remi has filled Mackenzie in and is surprised Dean didn’t tell her, wondering if he should have done so. Mackenzie realises that’s why Bree overreacted to Dean and Ziggy. Remi tells her about Jacob being out on bail and how they haven’t had a court date. He admits he might have messed things up with Bree. Mackenzie realises they’re more than friends and says he doesn’t need to confirm it.

At the Diner, Leah complains about Justin blowing their money again, like he did with the van. Irene thinks she should let it drop and even Alf suggests Justin needs to sort it out himself. Justin comes in and asks to talk to Leah. When she doesn’t move, he says he has a plan to help Dean and Ziggy: Find them a car and do it up himself. Leah agrees that’s a positive step. Alf says Justin’s lucky the golf club didn’t report him to the police for trespassing or damage to property. Justin says he’d deserve it.

Ziggy apologises for not telling Mackenzie about Bree but Mackenzie understands. Justin appears and asks to speak to Ziggy, saying he’ll make sure she and Dean get a car and explaining about finding an old car and doing it up. Ziggy says there’s no way he’ll do it without her and Justin is happy to do it up together. He comments on the amount of work Cash’s ute still needs. Ziggy says she’s not coming back to work until after the baby, then laughs and says she’ll be back next week on light duties. She confirms to Mackenzie that Dean’s out of the bad books with her.

Outside, Bree and Remi run into each other and exchange apologies before heading back to the house. Remi feels bad for frightening her but Bree says she’s always felt safe with him and kisses him. Not long after, the two of them are in bed together. Remi confesses to telling Mackenzie about her and Jacob and the two of them but Bree doesn’t mind and says she told Ziggy. She says that she’s hungry. Remi offers to get her something to eat but she says to stay there and she’ll sort it.

Alf calls out to Justin outside the surf club. Justin thinks he’s going to have a go but Alf says he’s spoken to the president of the golf club: They’re not going to press charges but Justin is banned from going back there. Later, Leah comes home and finds some flowers on the table. She seems to like them but also accuses Justin of trying to buy her. Justin tells her he was childish and immature and doesn’t know why he did it. He also wants to make things up to the charity and suggests he volunteer at the community kitchen. Leah says that’s the man she fell in love with.

Ziggy asks Mackenzie for a mocktail. Bree comes in to get a takeaway. Ziggy and Mackenzie quickly guess some of it’s for Remi and she thanks them for their support. She has a brief phone call and says Jacob hasn’t turned up for work, meaning he could be anywhere. They suggest she shouldn’t be alone but Bree says her car’s just outside and she’ll go straight back to Remi. Later, as they’re discussing Remi, Mackenzie gets a text from Eden about the hens night and they debate whether Ziggy should go. Mackenzie suggests Ziggy could be designated driver.

Remi emerges from the bedroom. He looks around, then calls Bree and leaves her a message wondering where she is.
