Extended Summary

An ambulance pulls up outside the surf club and Nikau clears the crowd out of the way before explaining the situation to Xander. Inside, Dean is tending to Ziggy, who is worried about the baby. Xander and Nikau come in, with Nikau clearing the scene again. Dean snaps to Xander that she fell. Xander checks that there’s no loss of movement or pain to her back or neck. Ziggy says the pain is mostly in her legs and belly and isn’t sure if she’s felt the baby move. Xander says they’ll take her to hospital.

Bree is there as Xander brings Ziggy into hospital with Dean accompanying. Xander tells her Ziggy fell about two metres and there’s no bleeding or cramping. Bree asks for scans to clear the spine. Ziggy asks her to focus on the baby. Bree asks what happened and Dean cuts in to say she fell. Bree tells him to calm down and Xander leads him away.

At the Diner, Marilyn tells Alf, Irene and Roo about seeing an ambulance outside the surf club but no-one knows any details. Marilyn persuaded the bakery to donate a $50 voucher. Roo says they’ve also got a set of golf clubs and a year’s free coffee at the Diner and she has feelers out for sponsorship and prizes. Alf reminds her she only has a week. Roo says they just need a big sponsor and prize. She gets a call from a car dealer, Geoff.

Stacey is running a class on the beach. She sees Nikau and asks if there’s any news of Ziggy. Xander appears and tells them Bree was running tests and he thinks Ziggy and the baby will be fine. Nikau drives off to deal with some beach goers. Stacey suggests she and Xander grab some food. Drinking on the balcony at Salt, Xander asks if she misses nursing and she jokes it’s more fun torturing people. Nikau comes out and Stacey invites her to join them but he declines, saying he wants peace and quiet. Xander seems bothered but suggests they order.

Bree runs a scan and, after several tense moments, finds the baby’s heartbeat. Dean tells Ziggy to never walk downstairs again and asks when he can take her home. Bree says they’ll have to wait for all clear from the specialist and Dean says he’s not letting her out of his sight. Ziggy asks to go to the bathroom and Dean helps her up but Bree notices blood on the sheet. She says they’ll need to run an internal ultrasound. Dean follows Bree out and tries to ask her for information. Bree tells him not to angry and he snaps that she’d know if he was angry.

Ziggy comes back from the scan and Bree tells her there’s no sign of placental abruption: She just needs a week of bed rest and also to stay in overnight for observation. Bree suggests Dean get Ziggy some things from home. Dean would rather stay with Ziggy but Ziggy agrees that she needs some pyjamas and toothbrush. He tells her not to move while he’s gone.

At Salt, Stacey wonders why Xander has gone quiet. Xander thinks she was flirting with Nikau but Stacey says she was just being a friend. Xander admits he’s jealous and wonders if she has real connections with people. Stacey says she likes getting to know people and having connections without ownership. She dismisses the concept of “the one”. At the Diner, Roo tells Marilyn they’ve got a $200 voucher from the hardware store. Xander comes in and tells them Ziggy and the baby are going to be okay. He asks Irene what she thinks of “the one”. Irene says there’s a lot of people that can change your life for the better.

Bree chats to Ziggy about getting ready for the baby. Ziggy mentions she had disagreements with Dean about working and he talked sense into her. Bree notices a bruise on Ziggy’s leg. Ziggy isn’t sure where it came from but says she often bumps or burns herself at work. Later, Dean turns up with a bag. Bree says Ziggy’s looking good. Dean asks her to talk to Ziggy about taking time off work. Bree thinks Ziggy knows her own body but Dean says she’s stubborn. Bree tells him to go home after dropping the bag off but Dean insists on staying.

Xander sees Stacey chatting to Nikau outside the surf club. He approaches Stacey and tells her he’s decided to embrace her philosophy and has arranged a date with someone else for tomorrow. Stacey say he doesn’t need to tell her that. He says he was just being honest and transparent. Up in Salt, Alf and Marilyn meet Roo who says she has a face to face meeting with the car dealer. Alf tells her not to get carried away but Roo wants to celebrate anyway. At the bar, Nikau wonders if Xander’s trying to prove something to Stacey. Xander says Stacey doesn’t get jealous and he’s signed up to some apps and has a coffee date tomorrow morning.

Next morning, Ziggy wakes up to find Dean sitting at her bedside. She bursts into tears and Bree listens from the other side of the curtain as Ziggy says he was right, she was doing too much and she’d never forgive herself if anything happened to the baby. Bree walks away, looking grim, as Dean reassures her. At Salt, Xander arrives with his date and suggests she take a seat on the couch. He sees Dean come in and joins him at the bar, asking about Ziggy. Dean says she’ll be discharged this morning and apologises for being short.

Bree checks on Ziggy, who says Dean went for food. Bree says Dean seemed on edge and has a temper. Ziggy says he has his moments but he loves her and the fall wouldn’t have happened if she’d listened to him. Bree says there’s help if she needs it and she can talk to her. Ziggy says she just wants to get home. Bree walks away and calls Cash at the station, saying she needs to report a case of domestic violence on one of her patients.
