Ziggy and Dean announce their big news. Lyrik’s new song is a hit, but could it be bigger? Unhinged Heather holds Marilyn’s friends hostage.
Extended Summary
Justin and Theo have just finished a surf. Justin suggests they go for breakfast, but when Kirby appears, having been eager to get away from the tension with Remi and Eden at the house, Theo takes up her better offer. Theo says Justin’s at a loose end. Justin says he can do band admin and suggests putting together something for socials from the proposal video, arranging to meet them at lunch. Theo shakes himself dry over Kirby.
Alf, Irene, Leah and Roo look over Crestview. Heather appears on the landing and greets them. Alf wonders what she’s doing there. Heather says Marilyn’s fixing her hair and leads them to the dining room, fobbing off questions and apologising to Roo for not saying goodbye. Leah finds messages from Marilyn and comments she’s not usually late. Heather offers them all champagne and orange juice for Irene. As Marilyn watches from where she’s tied up, Heather offers a toast to forgiveness before shooting a triumphant look at the camera.
Justin arrives at the surf club and is accosted by John, who wonders why Alf isn’t around and Irene, Leah and Marilyn are all away from the Diner. Justin notes John wasn’t invited too, saying Marilyn invited the likes of Alf, Irene and Roo out of town to a swanky brunch. John is disappointed he wasn’t included, despite Justin suggesting he dodged a bullet.
Alf, Irene and Roo are all out cold and tied to their chairs. Leah is still holding onto consciousness as Heather ties her legs. She asks if Marilyn’s okay. Heather says she wouldn’t hurt her own mother and this should be a sign that people shouldn’t come running when Marilyn snaps her fingers. Leah feebly reaches for a knife which Heather takes from her without difficulty, finishing tying her up as Marilyn continues to watch frantically.
Heather goes back up to the room where Marilyn is tied up, quipping that her friends are dragging down the mood. She offers Marilyn some water, assuring her it’s not poisoned because she doesn’t want her passing out. She says she never had friends like Marilyn does but it’s all fake because they don’t know what Marilyn’s really like. She says they have to get to know each other and Marilyn’s friends have to see the truth.
At the Morgan house, Justin gets Leah’s voicemail. He shows Theo and Kirby the video then posts it. It gets likes from their followers but Theo is disappointed with the sound quality. Justin suggests they record the song. Kirby says that’ll be difficult with Eden and Remi not talking but Theo suggests they could lay their tracks separately.
Roo is the first to come round. Her calls to Alf initially go unheeded but Irene stirs and Alf soon follows. They and Leah wonder what’s going on, with Roo realising Heather put something in their drinks. Leah wonders what happened to Marilyn. Heather comes back in and cheerily says she’s taken them hostage. Alf asks what she wants and Heather says she wants the truth and they could all use a wake-up call.
Later, Heather sits eating. She notices a call from Justin on Leah’s phone and asks if she should send a message. Leah tells her to let them go and Heather reminds her about giving her lectures. Roo realises she trashed Leah’s house and Heather says she also slashed John’s tyres. Alf says he has heartburn and Irene realises what they were given is affecting his heart. Roo asks to be untied but Heather says it’s up to Marilyn, addressing her via the camera. The others realise Marilyn is watching them.
At the hospital, Doctor Ward tells Ziggy and Dean there’s no Astoni on the list for today and they should have been here yesterday. Dean says they got the date mixed up. The doctor says she can fit them in Monday and Dean asks her to do it today. The doctor relents and takes them in, saying the due date will only be approximate and they might not see much at twelve weeks. Ziggy is overawed at the sight of the baby, saying they made that. The doctor notes it’s not a twelve week foetus: The baby’s healthy but Ziggy’s eighteen weeks pregnant. Ziggy realises they’ll be meeting the baby sooner than they thought.
Theo and Kirby listen to the recording they’ve just done prior to Eden and Remi adding their bits. Kirby notes she thinks of the lighthouse when she hears the song and Theo suggests recording a visual, like a proper music video. By the beach, Ziggy rambles about the fact she has six weeks less to get ready for the baby, wondering why she isn’t bigger, why she can still surf and why the nausea didn’t end with the first trimester. Dean doesn’t know but says now they can tell people. He calls Jai and tells him he’s going to be a big brother and they can’t put the baby back in if it’s a girl. Ziggy feels the baby kicking and lets Dean have a feel.
At the surf club, John makes an appointment with Justin and asks if Leah’s sent any photos of the gathering. Ziggy and Dean come in and Ziggy shows them the scan. John calls it a dinosaur and they both congratulate them. John says the drinks are on him upstairs. Justin thinks he’s trying to compete with Marilyn’s brunch.
Upstairs in Salt, John hands out the drinks and proposes a toast to endless sleepless nights, saying they’ll have four years of dirty nappies, insomnia and caffeine and the first twenty years are the hardest. Theo and Kirby turn up and tell Justin their idea to produce a music video, which delights him. He suggests they talk it through over dinner and tries to call Leah to check in.
Alf seems worse and Roo suggests they need to get out of there. Heather returns with Marilyn and tells her she needs to tell the truth about Heather herself and about who Marilyn really is. Marilyn doesn’t seem to want to, despite Heather saying they can take Alf to hospital if she does. Marilyn says they’ll never forgive her as Heather urges her on. She says she was working as a housekeeper in the outback and got close to a man named Tim, adding she was young and vulnerable. Heather shouts that that’s incorrect and to start again. Marilyn says Tim was her boss and he suggested they spend time together. Heather again says that’s wrong and to tell the truth. Marilyn shouts out that Heather’s her daughter.
