Ziggy struggles to hide her pregnancy. Will band manager Justin fail before he begins? Tane wants to call it quits.
Extended Summary
Dean, Ziggy and Mackenzie are on the beach with Ziggy determined to go surfing once her nausea has passed. Mackenzie is excited that Ziggy is carrying her niece or nephew and wonders if it could be twins. Dean tells her go to work and Ziggy tells her she can’t tell anyone, not even by accident. Dean wishes they could tell someone but Ziggy says it’s the rules.
At the Diner, Alf fills Leah and John in on Marilyn’s arrest and says Heather convinced Cash not to press charges. Leah asks who called the police and Alf says that was Heather too and she heard someone in her van. John says Marilyn must have a reason. Alf says she won’t tell him or Roo so they backed off. Leah says that’s for the best. Alf wonders if she knows something but Leah says Marilyn won’t tell her something she wouldn’t tell Alf. She decides to give Marilyn a call.
Leah arrives home on the phone to Marilyn, saying to call her if she needs to. Justin comes in and Leah quickly realises something is wrong. He says it’s band stuff then asks if she knows what it’s like to really want something, get it and realise you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. Leah asks what he’s done.
Felicity, Nikau and Tane arrive home. Felicity says she’ll let Cash know they’re done. She thinks they should celebrate but the other two aren’t in a celebratory mood. She decides to head to work. Tane says it’s done and no-one knows what really happened. Nikau thinks nobody knowing is the problem.
Justin explains to Leah about volunteering to be Lyrik’s manager. Leah says it’s a lot on top of running the garage. Justin says it won’t give them much time together and he’ll understand if she doesn’t want to do it. Leah thinks music is his dream and he’ll be great at it. She says she’ll go for a workout and jokes about telling people she’s dating a band manager.
Outside the surf club, Dean finds Ziggy looking at an article about the girl who got the sponsorship deal after she turned it down. Ziggy jokes she wishes they’d given her address so she could hire a hitman before saying the money will still be there afterwards. Seeing Justin approaching, Dean asks if Ziggy’s going to tell him about the pregnancy as her boss. Ziggy asks to talk to Justin but is happy to leave it to later when he says he’s got something on. Dean looks bemused.
Tane asks Nikau if he’s going to catch up with Heather. Nikau snappily says she’s not his girlfriend and complains they’re both on good behaviour bonds despite doing nothing wrong. Tane says they needed that to stop the bikies getting suspicious. Nikau worries that mud will stick. He heads down the beach where John pulls up next to him in the buggy and asks his opinion on the rip before asking about the court case. Nikau says it’s over but his lawyer told him not to talk about it. He assures John he doesn’t have a record. John says they should move on. Nikau volunteers to help him out. John orders him out of the driver’s seat.
At the surf club, Ziggy’s phone rings with a call from Maggie. Dean asks if she’s going to tell her, saying he’ll tell Karen if she does. Ziggy ignores the call. Dean wants to tell Jai but Ziggy says no because Amber would know. Dean says to write down a list of who can know and Ziggy says it would be a short list. John overhears the last bit and asks if she’s writing a list of Dean’s good points. Ziggy and Dean agree he’s not on the list. Up in Salt, Felicity gives Mackenzie what information she can about the court case. She notices Justin and realises he has a problem, saying there’s always a solution. Justin asks to pick her brains about band stuff.
Tane is standing around the surf club, looking lost in thought. John gives him his mail from the gym. Tane asks what the committee will do now the court case has finished. John says they haven’t met yet but he thinks it won’t be a problem. Nikau arrives and briefly chats to Tane before Leah appears from the gym and tells Tane that there’s someone at the counter asking questions about membership.
Up in Salt, Felicity is telling Justin that bands often get ripped off by people giving them a flat fee and not thinking about their expenditure. Mackenzie wonders why he’s asking just as Leah appears and explain he’s Lyrik’s new manager. As Justin and Leah walk away, he admits he might have stuffed up.
Tane is finishing off a class near the beach. Felicity appears but only gets a muted reaction from him. She says Cash was pleased and she thought Tane would be too. Tane says he thought he would but everything’s the same but different. Felicity advises him to give time for it to get back to normal. Tane agrees it’s just a bad day but doesn’t seem to have convinced himself or her.
Back at the Morgan house, Justin tells Leah about the pitch he wrote but says in his first phone call he agreed to a fee less than half the band’s rate. He says he wishes he hadn’t taken the job. Leah realises he wanted her to give him a way out. She asks if he knew how to take an engine apart the first day he became a mechanic and says he’ll learn how to do this job as well. She tells him to ring the guy back and tell him the fee and the conditions.
At the surf club, Nikau apologises to Tane for being in a bad mood before, saying John was fine with everything. Tane though thinks Nikau was right about things not being the same and isn’t sure he wants them to be. Nearby, Dean is doing board shop admin while Ziggy tells him she has to go now. Mackenzie appears and says they should be gone. Ziggy warns her not to say any more. Mackenzie says she’ll close up and to call her afterwards because she’ll worry.
Up in Salt, John has bought Nikau a drink. He asks about Heather. Nikau again says she’s not his girlfriend and that he doesn’t know much about her. Felicity appears and asks to borrow Nikau, telling him she’s worried about Tane. Meanwhile, Justin is on the phone to one of the manager’s staff, saying he’s already left a message and wants to be called back. Leah suggests he try calling another venue to get some confidence but Justin wants to do this one first and says he’ll pay the band’s shortfall himself. Leah says to give her the phone.
Nikau arrives home and Tane says they need to talk. He says Nikau was right about people seeing them differently. Nikau says he doesn’t feel that way anymore but Tane says he wants to sell the gym.
