Extended Summary
Neve is walking through a park area, having a panic attack. Logan comes up and she tells him to give her a head start before calling it in and to give her some cash. Logan says either she calls it in or he will. Neve thinks he won’t do it but Logan insists he will. At the surf club, Justin is giving Theo a pep-talk before his community service. John says he’s not going off to war, just picking up litter on the beach. Justin asks John to go easy on him and John suggests that Justin watching him isn’t helping. One of the girls, Shayla, tries to convince Theo to slip away with her but he wants to just put his hours in. Cash starts to give an intro speech but John asks to do it instead.
At the Diner, Alf offers Irene more food but he says he’s full and admits things aren’t much better at home. Justin arrives and confirms Theo’s at community service. He asks Irene for some moussaka for tonight. Alf wonders how Leah feels about it and Justin admits neither she nor Theo’s parents know. Alf recalls Dimitri being a hard taskmaster. Meanwhile, John is finishing his spiel. Shayla implores him to shoot her and he replies the death penalty was abolished in 1973, a joke she’s heard before. Cash asks everyone for their paperwork: Shayla complies but Theo hasn’t got his, even though it should have been posted to him. Cash says he’ll look into it but Theo still has to do the session. He sees Jasmine walk through, ignoring him, and John asks him about it, saying a woman saying things are fine means they’re not.
Upstairs, Jasmine tells Mackenzie about Cash not wanting to move in with her and her trying to pretend it hasn’t happened. She asks what would have happened if Logan hadn’t wanted to live with Mackenzie. Mackenzie says it might have helped things, given she ended up inviting the ex-girlfriend along. Back at the flat, Neve is packing her bags and tells Logan to look the other way. Logan says she’s already spent two years on the run and that’s no life. Neve says if he wants to send her to jail, he’s the one that will have to do it.
John asks the community service attendees for their phones. Cash explains Theo didn’t update his details so the paperwork was sent to his address in the city. Theo looks worried, especially when Cash says it was marked as coming from the court. Cash goes to get the magistrate to re-issue it and then talk to Jasmine. Theo asks John if he can make a phone call before they start but John says the rules are clear: No phones until they finish. Upstairs, Mackenzie is filling Jasmine in on Neve without mentioning anything incriminating. She admuts being annoyed at first but she’s accepted that helping people is what Logan does. Jasmine agrees she’s dating a doctor and Mackenzie points out Jasmine’s dating a cop. Cash arrives and asks Jasmine if they can go and talk.
Mackenzie finds Logan sat near the Diner and notes he didn’t lose his phone. Logan says Neve’s upstairs, that he thought they had a breakthrough but he’s threatened to turn her in: He’s dialled the number five times but not done it. He says he wishes Mackenzie had known Neve before. Mackenzie suggests Neve might do it herself but Logan thinks she won’t. Mackenzie goes upstairs and tells Neve she doesn’t know what she went through but she can see that Neve’s in pain and so’s Logan. She thinks Logan will never forgive himself if he has to turn her in.
Cash tells Jasmine that he’s serious about them but didn’t want to move too quickly. He doesn’t want things to change but just wants to put the brakes on a bit. Jasmine accepts that Cash is used to protecting Felicity: She might not think she’s an issue but she is to Cash. They agree to forget about her asking. Back at the Diner flat, Mackenzie says “they”’ve just pulled up outside. Logan tells Neve she’s doing the right thing and promises she’s not losing him. They go downstairs to where a military police vehicle is waiting. Neve hugs Logan and thanks him before the soldiers take her away.
Justin is sat outside the house, a takeaway bag next to him. He is on the phone to Leah, unsure of the time difference, and says Theo isn’t there but is all right. Outside the surf club, Theo is on the phone to his mum asking about the letter and is relieved that she’s got it and his dad hasn’t seen it. John has come up in time to hear part of the conversation and asks what’s going on.
John and Theo head up to Salt where Theo notes his dad was always strict with him and his mum covered for him. He says when he started at high school, his dad had a go at him for coming home late and he told him to get stuffed: Dimitri flattened him, saying if he wanted to be a man, he’d treat him like one. John argues that men don’t treat each other like that. He asks about Theo’s mum. Theo says Dimitri never hit her and she didn’t feel it was her place to intervene. John encourages him to talk to the police but Theo refuses and tells John not to tell anyone. Soon after, Justin greets Theo on his return home, surprised it’s so late. He tells him to reheat dinner but Theo says he’s just going to shower and go to bed. He goes to the bathroom and leans against the sink, looking haunted.
