Extended Summary

Logan, outside the surf club, calls up to Mackenzie on the Salt balcony, telling her he’s had his final shift and asking her to hang out with him. Mackenzie was meant to be going to see Dean and suggests Logan come with her. Logan would rather go to the beach but ends up agreeing. At the farm house, Dean is on the phone to Jai, who asks when he can come and visit. Dean asks Ziggy, who is fine with it, but tells Jai in a few weeks. Logan and Mackenzie turn up with Dean’s things, as Dean is suggesting Jai give him some different drawings. Logan and Mackenzie leave as Dean suggests to Ziggy that Jai might not like the place since it’s far from the beach.

Justin re-enters the Diner and Leah tells him Theo took off. Justin thinks Theo was causing trouble but Leah points out Ryder went for him and thinks he needs their support. She tries to suggest that Theo should move in but Justin refuses and walks out. Leah follows. Justin says it’s just the two of them and they should be happy about that, calling Theo a troublemaker. Leah insists he’s family and won’t change her mind but Justin similarly won’t change his mind about Theo moving in.

Later, Leah relates the matter to Alf, but Alf feels Theo’s had too many chances and Leah has a blind spot about him. Leah sharply says Theo didn’t force Ryder to get drunk and Alf leaves. Leah turns to Irene, wondering why everyone’s judging Theo. Irene says only her and Justin’s opinions matter. Leah says Justin’s had a second chance but Irene helps her realise he might be missing his family. Meanwhile, Logan and Mackenzie are approaching the surf club. Logan tries to talk her out of going back to work, saying she has staff to handle things. Mackenzie says there’s more work to do sorting out the fundraiser but eventually asks for an hour. Logan suggests twenty minutes so she agrees to half an hour and a free drink.

Ziggy looks through the boxes of Dean’s things, finding Jai’s drawings and a photo of him and Dean with Amber. Ziggy pins one of the drawings up on the fridge, which Dean doesn’t seem entirely keen on, although he refuses to discuss his worries in detail. He does assure her Amber doesn’t have a problem with her. Later, Ziggy finds Dean looking at Jai’s drawings. She offers to talk to Amber herself but Dean says it’s not about her: The pictures all show him surfing or kicking a footy, and Jai will expect him to be like that now he’s out of hospital. Ziggy assures him that Jai won’t mind.

Justin is sat on his own at Salt. At the bar, Mackenzie tells Logan she’s ready to go and they head off. Leah comes in and joins Justin. They exchange apologies and agree to talk. Mackenzie and Logan arrive back at the flat in a clinch and, after checking Bella’s not home, head to the bedroom. Logan asks Mackenzie to run away with him. Mackenzie looks shocked and Logan says just for a few days, before they decide to discuss is later.

Leah admits to Justin that she hadn’t thought much about how Tori going would affect him. Justin says he’s never really been without her: He’s always been the big brother, yet now they’re all gone. He accepts it makes logical sense for Theo to move in but says he’s rocked Grace to sleep in her room, Tori’s room is empty and he even goes into Mason’s room expecting to see him. Next morning, Logan and Mackenzie are lying in bed exhausted. Logan returns to the subject of the trip, suggesting a beach shack on the coast or taking a helicopter into the mountains. Realising Mackenzie isn’t grabbed, he suggests a five star resort.

Leah and Justin arrive outside the bait shop. Leah starts to talk to Alf about yesterday but he says to forget about it. Leah heads to work and Justin tells Alf they’ve agreed it’s not the right time for Theo to move in. Inside, Leah notes Irene was right about Justin missing his family. She’s put the idea of Theo moving in on hold but observes Justin has already said it makes sense so is waiting for him to come round.

Dean tells Ziggy that he’s spoken to Amber and everything’s sorted: Jai should be there by lunch. Ziggy is shocked that they only have a few hours to prepare, saying she needs to get food and hurrying out. At the Diner flat, Mackenzie emerges from the bedroom. Logan is still keen to get the trip locked in place. Mackenzie says she gave up everything for a guy once before and doesn’t want to do it again. Logan suggests it’s only a few days’ break and suggests they find a week on the calendar. Mackenzie says maybe once Dean’s better.

Dean shows Jai into the farm house, as he wonders if there’s cows and horses. Dean says he’ll get him a glass of water. Jai wonders why Dean lives there; Amber didn’t tell him anything other than that he was going to stay with Dean. He asks for some ice cream and Dean says water first. Meanwhile, Ziggy runs into Logan and Mackenzie near the surf club. Mackenzie sends Logan off to the beach before telling Ziggy he’s hot, irresponsible and unemployed. She isn’t keen on going away with him, saying since he stayed for her, she feels obligated to keep him entertained. Ziggy explains about Jai visiting and how she’s got gelato. Mackenzie assures her that Jai will love her.

Later, Ziggy has brought the groceries back but Jai doesn’t respond when Dean tries to get him to talk to her. Ziggy says she’ll go and set up Jai’s room but lingers in the hallway as Dean asks Jai what’s wrong. Jai asks if Ziggy has to be there.
