Extended Summary

Tane is going for a swim on the beach. He has flashbacks to telling Ziggy he loved her, seeing her and Dean together at the surf carnival, her assuring him that there was nothing between her and Dean, and then seeing them kissing. Outside the surf club, Cash is on the phone to Felicity, assuring her he’s on his way. Jasmine watches from the balcony, looking both confused and annoyed. Cash bumps into Tane and says he heard Nikau’s awake but Tane doesn’t seem to understand why he’s commenting on it.

Jasmine comes into the Diner, complaining to Irene and Marilyn about Cash ditching her mid-date. She speculates that the mysterious Felicity is a girlfriend or even a wife, then wonders why Irene and Marilyn aren’t arguing with her. They point out that they don’t really know Cash. Later, Jasmine returns to the surf club and finds Tane coming out of the gym. She wonders what he was doing in there, since he’s not dressed for a work-out. Tane rather irritably says that he was using the changing room, since he didn’t want to go home and face up to Ari.

At the Parata house, Ryder is pouring cold water on Chloe’s plans, saying that they’ll need an industrial kitchen with licensing and insurance. Chloe points out they still have the money they were lent, despite Ryder insisting they need to pay it back. At the Diner, Alf chats to Irene and Marilyn about how Martha’s doing with the event organising. Ryder and Chloe come in and Chloe thinks this is a good time, since Alf’s in a good mood. She asks how urgently they need the money back. Marilyn says there’s no rush with her and Alf says, since Kieran’s doing most of the work, he doesn’t really need it for the renovations. Ryder still thinks Chloe is being unfair.

Cash pulls up outside the house where Felicity is arguing with the neighbours, Mrs Williams, accusing her of reporting them to the landlord and saying her husband perves on her. She tells Cash they’re being evicted. Cash has to drag her inside away from the argument. Felicity thinks Cash can use his position as a police officer to get them out of it but Cash says she can’t play loud music throughout the night and abuse the neighbours. Felicity is annoyed that he isn’t on her side. Cash rings the landlord and learns this is their third notice and Felicity didn’t tell him about the others. Despite his protests, Felicity announces that she’s going out with friends.

Irene and Marilyn are preparing to close up for the day. Chloe looks as though she’s suddenly had an idea and tells Irene she’ll close up. Irene isn’t sure but Chloe insists she knows what’s she doing so Irene agrees. Chloe goes into the kitchen and looks around before ringing Ryder. Cash comes in and asks if they know where Jasmine is. Irene isn’t impressed with him ditching her. Cash says he knows he owes her an apology, and he can’t do that if he doesn’t know where she is. Irene says she’s at the gym but warns him not to mess her about.

Cash arrives at the surf club just as Jasmine is closing up. She says she doesn’t care if Felicity is his girlfriend, wife or ex. Cash says she’s his sister. They head up to Salt where Jasmine wonders why he didn’t tell her. Cash says he didn’t expect Jasmine to look at his phone and explains that he and Felicity live together. He says she was young when their parents died: Their foster parents always had problems with her and now she’s his problem.

Tane has arrived at a club and is looking around at the other patrons. Felicity comes over and says her friends think he’s hot and want to know if he’s single. Tane is sceptical that it’s her friends that think that and suggests they have a drink together. They head to the bar and down tequilas. Felicity tries to attract the attention of a barmaid but doesn’t succeed. She ends up climbing on top of the bar and dancing: Most of the patrons are into it, but Tane looks as though he doesn’t know what to make of it. Felicity clambers behind the bar and tells Tane she works there. He accepts anything she has on offer.

Chloe sees off the last customer and Irene reluctantly hands over the key. Ryder turns up as she’s leaving and Irene assumes he’s there to help Chloe. Ryder confirms he brought the ingredients and Chloe tells him they can use the Diner kitchen after-hours. Ryder doesn’t think Irene and Leah would go for it but Chloe claims Irene has already given her permission in exchange for closing up. Much later, they have the kitchen full of dishes which they photograph for their website. Although both of them are exhausted, Irene will be there in three hours, so they have to tidy up before then.

On the dance floor, Tane and Felicity are kissing passionately. Tane suggests they get out of there and Felicity agrees. As dawn is breaking at the Diner, Ryder and Chloe have finally finished clearing up. Chloe tells Ryder to take the rubbish out. Marilyn turns up moments later and Chloe claims she thought she had to be there to let her in. Marilyn says she has her own key and is impressed by how clean the kitchen is. She smells spices and Chloe says it’s a cleaning method. Marilyn tells her they have a coach coming in later. Ryder returns and he and Chloe note La Cucaracha is back in business…but they won’t call it that this time.

Tane and Felicity are curled up in bed together. Tane manages to extricate himself and pull his trousers on. He sees a police car pulling up on the drive and tries to slip out of the house, only to run into Cash outside. Felicity emerges and notes Tane’s met her brother.
