Extended Summary

Justin grabs a tool as a weapon and sneaks further into the garage. Outside, Cash and another officer draw up in a police car. Justin approaches the office and yells out a warning, only to find John sat in there. Cash also comes in shouting out a warning and Justin and John hurriedly placate him. He notes that the security company called to say that the alarm had gone off. Down on the beach, Ryder is finishing off teaching a surfing class. Chloe joins him, asking how it’s going, and he admits he’s not having much time between the classes, work and TAFE. Chloe notes that Ari and Mia are talking again, and wanted the place to themselves, and Nikau is awake, so suggests they hang out at his. Ryder admits he has a shift at Salt soon but suggests she come with him for a coffee. Chloe reluctantly agrees and helps him with the boards.

At the Diner, Leah has got a call from Justin explaining about the situation at the garage and Marilyn recalls John was meant to be hands-off. Nearby, Irene is chatting to Jasmine, who complains that Cash hasn’t called her since their date which she didn’t even want to go to in the first place. At the garage, John is insisting he was just testing the security system. Cash asks who’s in charge and Justin says it’s his business. John says he owns it but Justin says it’s not been completed yet and is annoyed that the landlord gave John the keys. Cash tries to calm them but after a moment Justin goes back to insisting John’s in the wrong.

Alf meets with Martha and Roo at Salt. They explain that they met with Bella’s contact in the city and arranged the gallery. Ryder and Chloe come in and Roo asks Ryder for help. Ryder is busy but volunteers Chloe to help them. Back at the Diner, Jasmine is still obsessing over Cash. Irene suggests that she could call him. Jasmine says she doesn’t have his number. Irene points out it’s on the touch footy notice on the board.

Justin continues to insist that John’s in the wrong. Cash offers to charge him with breaking and entering and John suggests that might result in a rent increase. Cash gets Jasmine’s call but, not recognising the number, rejects it. Jasmine tells Irene and Marilyn that it’s gone straight to voicemail and leaves a message saying that she’s tired of him ghosting her and fed up with his game playing. Irene drily notes that that will get his attention. Back at the garage, Cash manages to convince John and Justin to go their separate ways and talk things over later. He listens to Jasmine’s voicemail and is utterly bewildered by it.

Back at Salt, Roo and Martha are talking about publicity. Ryder suggests they use the same person for the flyers that he and Chloe used. Chloe says she’s just getting the details. Roo realises Alf has nothing to do. Ryder jokingly suggests a life model and Martha says he can hang the artwork. Chloe reels off ideas: Contact artists on social media, tag influencers, get local businesses to donate prizes and catering. Later, she is on the phone to someone trying to arrange cheap catering because it’s for charity. Ryder is watching her, repeatedly ignoring Roo’s attempts to order a red wine.

At the Diner, Justin complains to Leah and Marilyn about John’s behaviour. Leah suggests he’s going to have to find a way to make it work. Nearby, Jasmine admits to Irene that she might have overreacted with Cash but declines to call him. Later, Marilyn, Justin and Leah continue their discussion outside. Marilyn suggests that Justin does what Alf does: Sets John boundaries. Leah agrees that they just need ground rules, pointing out John bought the garage to help Justin out.

Chloe rejoins Ryder, Roo and Martha and says she’s come up with an idea: She and Ryder can do the catering for free so long as the ingredients are provided. Roo and Martha readily agree and Ryder is convinced to get someone to cover for him. Down on the beach, Cash runs into John, moments before he sees Jasmine. He tells her he got her message and doesn’t understand what he did. Jasmine says he did nothing. Cash and John both look confused.

Cash follows Jasmine into the surf club and tries to get her to tell him what’s going on but she just heads into the gym. John also appears and Cash plays him the voicemail. John asks what ghosting means. Cash starts to explain, then the penny drops. He heads into the gym as John gets a call from Justin. Cash tells Jasmine that they agreed to just one dinner so he didn’t want to pressure her: He was going to talk to her in a few days but didn’t have her number. After he makes a bumbling attempt to retreat, Jasmine agrees to a drink.

Ryder tells Chloe he’s getting off early and joins her in working out a menu. John comes in and sits with Justin. Justin suggests that they should set ground rules as to how John should contribute. John says he’s got some ideas to run past him. Meanwhile, Alf, Martha and Roo arrive at the Diner. Alf is predicting that things will end badly between John and Justin. He asks the others how things went. Martha wants to make some calls to try and source artwork. Alf worries about her getting stressed but Roo assures him she’s keeping an eye.

Up in Salt, Cash asks Jasmine about her family. She tells him about her mother dying when she was young and her father not sticking around, and that she has no siblings but is close to her in-laws and Irene. Cash gets a call from someone called Felicity but doesn’t answer it. Meanwhile, Ryder and Chloe arrive at the empty Parata house. Ryder wants to sit and watch a movie but Chloe is busy pricing things for their takeaway business. Ryder appreciates the idea but points out they don’t have the start-up money.

Jasmine and Cash have moved to the balcony at Salt and he notes this is the longest they’ve spent together. They go to kiss but Cash gets a text alert: It’s a message from Felicity saying she needs him. Cash fumbles an apology, saying he needs to go and will call her.
