Extended Summary

Maggie is walking rapidly away from the surf club. Ben hurries after her, trying to get her to talk, but Maggie says she wants to go home first. Ziggy sees them and apologises for not being at the board shop sooner. Ben calls back to her that there’s been a change of plan. Soon after, Maggie strides into the farm house with Ben still trailing by some distance. He gets a phone call from Marco but Maggie tells him not to answer it. She says she loves him and hopes he loves her enough to forgive what she’s about to tell him: A long time ago, before they were married, she slept with his brother.

John and Marilyn are sat outside the Diner. Marilyn notes it’s a long time since they had a proper conversation and John agrees it makes a change not to be at each other’s throats. Marilyn says she was wrong to invite the Paratas to move in without asking him and apologises. John says he hasn’t been at his finest lately and things might have been different if he hadn’t overreacted at the start. Tori arrives with Grace and wonders if she should wait inside but John is happy for her to leave Grace and Marilyn agrees. Tori heads to the hospital and is surprised to find Jasmine there already. Jasmine says someone called in sick so she agreed to come in early. She’s in a good mood, saying she hasn’t had any morning sickness lately and wouldn’t mind if she had.

At the surf club, Roo asks Ziggy if she knows why the gym’s closed. Ziggy says Willow’s gone away with Dean but she had arranged cover. Roo decides to call Jasmine. Marco arrives and wonders why Ben and Maggie didn’t turn up at the bank for the meeting. Ziggy tells him about seeing them before, looking freaked out. At the hospital, Jasmine prepares to eat a packed lunch at the reception desk. Tori comments on eating for two and Jasmine notes Robbo always had a big appetite. Tori offers her Grace’s crib, since Robbo made it, and Jasmine recalls how she didn’t want children at the time. Tori is pleased Grace is going to have a sibling, recalling how her brothers were a big part of her childhood, and says if it’s a girl Jasmine can have Grace’s hand-me-downs. Jasmine is convinced it’s a boy which she’ll call Ryan. She gets a call from Roo and rushes off to the gym, leaving her lunch behind.

Ben sits in silence as Maggie says she was young and stupid and devastated over their break-up. Ben asks when it happened. Maggie says it was at a party: She arrived late, Ben didn’t know she was there and was laughing with a random girl, and she thought she’d lost him. She started drinking, then Marco told her that it was all right, she was gorgeous and deserved better, and she made the biggest mistake of her life. She says she didn’t tell Ben because she knew how he’d feel. Ben walks out. Soon after, Maggie gets a call from Ziggy wondering what’s going on. Maggie tells her to go and find Ben. Marco insists on going with her. Jasmine arrives at the surf club, telling Roo and the other customers that a trainer got her shifts muddled so she’ll cover until they arrive.

John and Marilyn walk through the caravan park, with Marilyn pushing Grace. She notes that she probably should have discussed with John before offering to look after her but John says she’s doing a good thing for Tori. Marilyn says she’s still coming to terms with what happened at the hospital and to Mason, and how people could be that evil. She says she thought only someone who was there could understand and bonded with Ari because they’d been through it together: Helping the Paratas was helping herself. John understand she has things to work through but suggests they talk about their marriage afterwards. Later, John finds Roo outside the house while paying his rent. He tells her about speaking to Marilyn but doesn’t think he’ll vacate the van any time soon: He needs to give Marilyn space so asks Roo to keep an eye on her. He adds that they’re lucky to have friends like her.

Jasmine arrives back at the hospital and tells Tori she’s still got three seconds of her break left. Tori wants to take her to get something to eat but Jasmine says she got something on the way back. Tori notes that Jasmine looked after her during her pregnancy so she wants to do the same. Jasmine thanks her. Tori leaves to deal with a patient. Later, Tori finds Jasmine asleep in an armchair in one of the rooms. She drapes a blanket over her and tells a nurse to make sure no-one disturbs her.

Ziggy and Marco are near the surf club and see Ben sitting on the beach. They go over and Ziggy asks Ben what’s going on. Ben is initially vague, but when he sees Marco, he grabs him as if he’s going to hit him and asks if it’s true he slept with his wife. He lets him go and walks away. Ziggy follows, stopping Marco from going with them. She asks Ben if it’s true and Ben points out Marco didn’t deny it. He says it was over twenty years ago, when he and Maggie split up for a time, He makes it clear it’s not about the sex but about how Maggie lied for so long, all the time they’ve been married. Meanwhile, Maggie goes into Salt but turns around to go out when she sees Marco nursing a beer. Marco sees her and asks why she told Ben. Maggie says she was fed up of being blackmailed and wasn’t going to let him use Ben. Marco says she used him and if he’d got the money he’d have gone: He blames her for the pain Ben’s in.

Marco exits the surf club and bumps into Ziggy, asking after Ben. Ziggy isn’t interested in his explanations. Marco says he’d liked Maggie for a long time and thought it was over between her and Ben: Next thing he knew, she was back with Ben, they got married and nine months later Ziggy was born. Ziggy asks how long after the hook-up she was born. Marco is flustered and Ziggy walks away. Marco finds Ben on the beach and asks if it’s safe to approach. He confirms it was just once. He can’t say exactly which party it was but confirms it was before Ben hit him and that was what he and Maggie were arguing about when he interrupted them. Ben says Marco slept with his girlfriend and he got charged with assault. Marco protests that they weren’t together but Ben retorts that his brother shouldn’t sleep with his girlfriend or his ex-girlfriend. He refuses to discuss it and ignores a phone call.

Maggie arrives home, leaving a phone message for Ben asking him to let her know she’s okay. Ziggy arrives home and Maggie asks if she found her father. Ziggy says that depends on who her father is and asks if Marco is her father.
