Extended Summary

Justin joins Leah on the wharf and works out that there’s a connection between Irene being at the police station and the person who put the John Doe in a coma being caught. After a bit of pushing, Leah tells him the person who was in a coma is called Thomas O’Reilly; he groomed and tried to assault a teenage girl and Irene stopped him. Justin realises it was Bella and Leah confirms Colby knows. Justin warns Leah not to post anything about it online and says people will understand when they know the whole story. They head back to the Diner where Ben and Maggie are making a flying visit although Alf and Roo try to get them to stay for a coffee. John reads the newspaper report on the arrest; Alf says there might be more to it and Maggie says sometimes the police get it wrong. John says sometimes the evidence is staring you in the face, then regrets the remark when Ben gets upset and leaves.

Jasmine joins Robbo in the bedroom and they exchange apologies. Robbo accepts that when there’s no name or face to the threat it’s hard to believe it exist, while Jasmine promises not to cross the line and send him back to a dark place again. She says she might have more freedom if she’d stayed at the safe house but she wouldn’t be with him. She goes to make pasta while Robbo calls Lance. He speaks to Tori for a bit and she says that the doctor came and she and the baby are all right and to tell her family that. Lance takes the phone back and tells Robbo there’s been no further chatter, which may mean they have a leak. He’s going to leave Tori with Scott and go take charge of the investigation again. Robbo asks him to send him the files from the investigation so he can look over them again. Lance jokes about not knowing what Jasmine sees in Robbo and Robbo retorts that Lance has never married. Robbo gives Jasmine an update. Jasmine wonders if it could be a false alarm and dreams of going outside again. Robbo says he’s going to make another call.

Ben and Maggie arrive home. Maggie tries to cheer Ben up despite them not getting much positive information from their lawyer, suggesting calling the barrister she recommended. Ben asks how they’re going to pay for it: The last of their money went on supplies, yet they still have to pay rent and pay back Dean and refund Scanwell’s deposit. Maggie tries to suggest it might not even go to court. Ben decides to head for a nap. Meanwhile, Robbo shows Jasmine into their bedroom and tells her to change into her work-out gear: They can go out for a bit. Jasmine is slightly unnerved when he retrieves his gun from the safe, with him saying it’s just a precaution.

Robbo leads Jasmine from the flat to their vehicle. Leah appears and Jasmine tries to talk to her about Irene but Robbo calls her into the vehicle and drives off, ignoring Justin calling out to him. Leah is unable to tell Justin anything more and Justin wonders if them going out means Tori can come back. Meanwhile, Lance tells Tori and Scott about the new plan. Scott assures Tori he was trained by the best and Tori says he wouldn’t say that to Robbo’s face. Scott notes he still isn’t used to hearing Ryan called that, while Lance assures Tori Scott won’t let her down.

Maggie brings Ben a drink in their room. Ben says they need a plan: The people who set him up knew what they were doing and the police aren’t going to suddenly find them. Maggie thinks they should get a barrister and fight it but Ben thinks he should plead guilty rather than bankrupt them. Maggie refuses to consider it, saying Ben didn’t let her give up when she had cancer, but Ben walks out. Near the surf club, John is over-supervising Alf cleaning a vehicle and wonders if they should have another card game to cheer up Ben, regretting his comment earlier. They are surprised when Robbo and Jasmine come past, with John wondering if it’s safe.

Mason is running the gym when Robbo and Jasmine arrive and Robbo tells him to clear everyone out, calling it a security drill. Mason tells them to come back in an hour. Robbo tells him about speaking to Tori; Mason is annoyed that Robbo can but not them, but softens a bit when Jasmine asks him to help her with a session. Robbo goes to sort out the wages. Later, Mason finishes Jasmine on weights and she and Robbo dream of going for a pizza and beer once it’s over. Robbo asks Mason to do the rosters, saying he’ll make it up to him and Willow. Jasmine asks for ten more minutes and gets Mason to do some boxing with her.

Lance is preparing to leave the safe house. Tori isn’t sure about staying with Scott but Lance says he was there with them from the start, when Robbo’s family were killed and at the funeral. Tori muses she didn’t expect her pregnancy to end like this. As Lance drives off, Scott promises her he makes a mean lasagne. Meanwhile, Leah and Justin meet at Salt and see Ben propping up the bar. Justin offers him a drink and Leah suggests having him and Maggie round for dinner, before they retreat to a table, musing on how life can be unkind. Marilyn is covering for Irene again and Justin thinks she will understand when she hears why. He has also heard from Mason about Robbo speaking to Tori.

At the Diner, Maggie chats to Roo about Ben’s despondency and the lack of money. She is determined not to let Ben plead guilty. She says a bank wouldn’t lend to them and their only assets are the house and the pier complex: It may come down to selling the latter. At Salt, Ben asks the barman fir another beer. He gets a text from Maggie asking if everything’s okay. He ignores it and carries on drinking.

Robbo and Jasmine emerge from the surf club. Jasmine asks about going to see Irene, saying Colby’s often there checking on Bella. Robbo says they’ll ring ahead and if he’s there they can go. As they talk, someone takes photographs of them.
