Extended Summary

Leah and Justin are on the balcony at Salt. What good mood Justin has is ended by a phone call from the hospital, about the fact Tori was meant to be having a scan today. He can only tell them that she’s out of town and expresses concerns to Leah about Tori not being near a medical facility, dismissing claims that no-one would let anything happen to the baby.

At the safe house, Tori and Jasmine banter with Scott about food although Robbo doesn’t join in. Lance returns and says the chatter about Robbo has died down. Tori and Jasmine think this is a good thing but Robbo and Lance know it’ll make it harder to catch the people behind it. Lance also admits they’re no closer to finding out who the leak is.

Colby joins Rick in the interview room. Rick tells him Mackenzie came to his house and used his computer to transfer money from his account to hers. He provides bank statements. Colby says it only shows the transfer happened. Rick offers him CCTV footage showing Mackenzie going to his study and texts where she says she took the money because she needed it. Colby asks if it can be sorted in the family. Rick says he’s offered to drop it if Mackenzie returns the money and she refuses.

Alf chats to Leah outside the Diner about Justin, noting sometimes men have trouble talking about their feelings. Justin appears and apologises for biting Leah’s head off. They hug. Meanwhile, Lance finds Robbo chopping logs. Robbo says he can’t stay there and wants to go and flush out the people after him. Lance tries to dissuade him, saying if he goes then he won’t be able to come back and see Jasmine, Tori or the baby. He wishes him luck explaining that to Jasmine.

Colby goes to Salt where Mackenzie tries to talk to him about Dean. Colby cuts her off, saying she’s under arrest for embezzlement and Rick’s made an accusation. Mackenzie tries to refuse but goes with him when he explains he’ll have to cuff her otherwise.

Leah, Justin and Mason are at the Diner. Justin gets a text from Ava with a link to a flower festival she wants them to go to. Justin admits he’d forgotten he was meant to go and see her on Saturday and feels he should stay in Summer Bay in case there’s news of Tori. Leah warns him Ava will be disappointed and Mason points out this could last years.

Colby tries to question Mackenzie. Mackenzie asks if she should have a lawyer. Colby says she has that right but it would take until the morning to get one, so she’d have to spend the night in a cell. Mackenzie protests she used the money to buy a business. Colby stops the recording and says stealing from her father is messed up. Mackenzie says Rick doesn’t care about the money, he just wants her and her mum to disappear. Colby accuses her of taking the money to punish Rick and says Dean knew to stay away from him. Mackenzie says Dean never knew what he was missing: When she was growing up, her parents and her were a family, and now he won’t acknowledge her.

At the safe house, Robbo tells Jasmine about his plan to leave. Jasmine tries to forbid him but Robbo says he couldn’t protect Lauren and his children and won’t let that happen again. Jasmine says in that case she’s going with him. Robbo tries to refuse her but Jasmine reminds him he promised to stay with her and tells him to make it happen.

Colby gets Mackenzie to sign papers, saying she’ll have to report to a police station until her court date. Mackenzie asks when that will be and Colby, without looking at her, says she’ll be notified. Mackenzie apologises that he’s in the middle of this. In the same detached manner, Colby says it’s fine.

Colby calls Rick round to see him at the flat and tells him Mackenzie’s been arrested, charged and released on bail. Rick is disappointed she isn’t spending the night in the cells. Colby tells him he’s a friend of Dean, and that Rick can’t just pretend Dean and Mackenzie don’t exist because they’re inconvenient to his campaign. Rick makes to go and Colby asks him if he cared for Mackenzie once. Rick insists he loves her. Colby advises him to tell her. Next morning, Mackenzie meets Colby on the beach after he’s had a swim and tells him that Rick has asked to meet her. She isn’t keen, suspecting he just wants to gloat. Colby advises her to go.

Mackenzie meets Rick at Salt. He notes she should have told him Colby was a friend of Dean and makes insinuations about why Colby spoke up for her. Mackenzie tells him to leave. Rick apologises and acknowledges he crossed a line getting the police involved. Mackenzie acknowledges she did steal from him and Rick notes she’s put the money to good use.

Justin is walking Leah to work and says he’s decided he will go and see Ava. Colby appears and starts to tell Justin he’s had no news. Justin says he knows Colby will contact him if he does. Mackenzie arrives as Leah and Justin leave, and tells Colby that Rick’s agreed to drop the charges if she pays the money back. Colby is surprised there wasn’t any more but Mackenzie knows there’s never going to be a declaration of love. She thanks him for his help and says she’s going to make things up to Dean.

Scott arrives at the safe house with a spare bulletproof vest; he and Lance are preparing to reinstate Robbo in the federal police for the duration of the investigation. Tori and Jasmine watch from a distance; Tori doesn’t understand why Robbo’s doing this but Jasmine understands he has to and that she can’t let him go alone. Robbo recites the oath and is issued with a warrant card and a gun. Lance and Scott welcome him back.

Back in the Bay, Justin finishes a phone call with Brody, who is also worried. Mason tells him he’s going to cancel his internship. Justin tells him not to and they have to go on as normal. He says Tori will be safe if Robbo and Jasmine are with her. At that moment, of course, Robbo and Jasmine are saying goodbye to Tori. Tori worries she won’t see Robbo again but he insists he’ll be there for her and the baby. He and Jasmine are driven away.
