Extended Summary

At the Diner, Marilyn is talking to Irene about arranging afternoon tea for Jett; his and John’s plane has just landed. She says she’s only spoken to him briefly since the funeral and John said he was very quiet. Nearby, Leah serves Justin a large mug of coffee. He notes Ziggy hasn’t been turning up for work. They attempt to make plan to catch up but then Tori arrives and says she’s messed up. Before she can go too far, she gets a call from Robbo and leaves. She joins him at the beach house where he explains Jasmine freaked out and locked herself in her bedroom. Tori knocks on the door and Jasmine, although looking fragile, calls out that she’s fine. Tori says she needs to see her and Jasmine says only if Robbo goes. Tori convinces him to leave. Jasmine opens the door and she and Tori hug.

Leah and Justin have a private chat outside the Diner, arranging a time to meet. Justin is meeting an accountant in the evening and Leah has a pest inspection at lunch. She says to give her ten minutes. Robbo comes along and Justin asks if everything’s all right, explaining he was with Tori when Robbo called. Robbo says he tried to talk to Jasmine but she seemed afraid of him. At the beach house, Jasmine admits to Tori that Robbo didn’t do anything and says it wasn’t even about the kiss he mentioned. Tori notes it sounds like a panic attack and suggests ruling out a physical cause. Jasmine goes to lie down instead. Tori encounters Irene coming home. Irene wonders if Robbo’s to blame but Tori doesn’t think so. She asks Irene to stay at home with Jasmine.

Marilyn has set up the afternoon tea as John and Jett arrive back. John says the flight went okay. Jett is initially quiet but, when Marilyn asks how the service went, he says as well as these things can. John says Chaplain Wilson did a good job. Jett notices the set-up and awkwardly says Marilyn didn’t need to go to any trouble. Later, John tells Marilyn there were hundreds of people at the funeral and a parade of soldiers. He thinks Jett coped well, talking to the family and friends of the dead soldiers, and it might help him to move forward.

Tori finds Justin loitering outside the Diner and asks if he’s seen Robbo; Justin says he went upstairs. He tells her Robbo and Jasmine can sort out their own problems and Tori admits Leah said the same thing. She wonders why Justin’s there but he is saved from answering when Robbo appears. Tori tells him Jasmine had a panic attack. Robbo wonders what caused it and whether it was him, asking what she was like while he was away. Tori admits she didn’t spend much time with Jasmine then. Robbo worries about what he’s done to her. Later, Robbo goes to the beach house and tells Irene he wants to talk to her, asking if she meant it when she said he should stay away from Jasmine. Irene admits she might have gone a bit far. Jasmine listens in on the conversation as Robbo says he’ll leave if it’ll help but doesn’t want to abandon her. Irene can’t give a proper answer but does say Jasmine was better until he came back.

John and Marilyn are discussing the graffiti. John is relieved it wasn’t Raffy; Marilyn has some sympathy for Bella but John says it led to the resignation of a teacher who was helping them both. Jett is in the living area and says he’s going to sit up a while. John says to give him a call when he needs help going to bed. Marilyn offers to keep Jett company but he politely declines. After they’ve gone, he takes out the order of service for the funeral of Private James David Simmons. He “hears” someone giving the exhortation and playing the last post. At the beach house, Jasmine is in bed, looking upset; Irene looks in on her. Robbo is leaning against a wall in his flat while Jett stares into space.

Next morning, Irene wakes up on the sofa as Tori knocks on the door. Irene says Jasmine isn’t up yet and explains she slept down there in case she was needed. Tori asks to see Jasmine. Irene knocks on the bedroom door but finds she’s gone. Meanwhile, John finds Jett still sitting up and wonders if he got any sleep. Marilyn joins them as Jett says he simply lost track of time. John notes the order of service. Jett, somewhat distantly, says it was a good service, then asks Marilyn if he can have pancakes for breakfast. John looks slightly worried.

Leah finds Justin waiting outside the Diner and notes she opens in five minutes. He says he just wants the first coffee of the day…unless she wants to open late. They see Jasmine on the wharf and Robbo joining her. Robbo says he got Jasmine’s text. Jasmine tells him not to sit too close and that she overheard him and Irene. She says he can leave if he wants to. Robbo says that’s not what he meant but Jasmine is barely listening, saying there have been times over the years she wanted him there but she can cope without him. Robbo is puzzled by the reference to years and says he doesn’t want to go. Jasmine says she wants him to. Later, Jasmine is at home, dressed for work. Irene says Leah mentioned seeing her with Robbo. Jasmine says it’s all sorted. Irene suggests she call in sick but Jasmine says she wants to move on.

John and Marilyn make plans to take Jett to physio, then go for lunch in Yabbie Creek and maybe sign Jett up to the RSL. Jett says he’s not going. They initially think he wants a day off but he says he shouldn’t be there, he’s the one that should be dead.
