Extended Summary

Colby follows Bella back into the Diner flat where Willow and Dean are waiting. Bella insists she’s not staying there, going to her room. The others conclude she can stay with Irene for a bit longer, where Willow can keep an eye on her. Colby tells Willow and Dean about Bella wanting all the details on Ross’ death and agrees that he can’t go to the police until things are sorted. At the school, Simone approaches Maggie, who is extremely cold towards her, and asks about Bella leaving school and whether she’ll be back in tomorrow, since Simone has work planned. Maggie says she’ll find out, adding that if she isn’t then Simone can work from home.

Ben comes home and finds Ziggy lounging on the sofa, rewatching a movie. He tries to get her to go shopping or for a surf. Maggie also comes home and express similar surprise about Ziggy’s lack of movement. Ziggy says she’s going to her room. Maggie tells Ben that she’s having a hard time dealing with working with Simone. At that moment, Brody meets with Simone at the caravan park. Simone tells him about her hard time at work and Maggie’s hostility towards her, predicting that she’ll wait until the last minute before telling her whether Bella’s in or not. Brody suggests that at least she’ll get a day off work.

Willow approaches Bella on the balcony at Salt. Bella says she was terrified of Ross coming back but now she knows she’ll never see him again. She says Irene’s working late. Willow suggests Bella come downstairs with her, since she’s back at work but not a qualified trainer yet. Bella agrees. At the Diner, Justin runs into Ben and awkwardly asks him about Ziggy coming back to work. Ben says he has no idea but softens slightly as he says he’ll let him know. After Justin has gone, Irene asks Ben what’s going on. Ben says he’s just there for takeout.

Willow gets a text from Colby asking how Bella is. She joins Bella in the office where she’s folding towels. Bella recalls how she was scared Ross would come back and hurt Colby, and instead Colby hurt him. She wonders if Ross might have changed and Colby denied him the chance. Willow tells her not to romanticise Ross. Bella says she both loved and hated him. Willow insists Colby did it to protect her. At the flat, Colby joins Dean on the balcony. Dean is shocked to learn Colby still intends to hand himself in in the morning, reminding him what happens to cops in jail. Colby says he’ll fight the charges and argue it wasn’t premeditated. Dean says he’ll still go to jail and they might not believe him after everything Ross did. Colby gets a text from Maggie asking about Bella being in school and ruefully notes that she won’t be because he’s confessing to murdering her dad.

As Maggie gets Colby’s reply, Ben admits that he understands Justin’s point of view, having just gone through the same thing with Dean. He notes if Ziggy doesn’t go back to work she’ll lose her apprenticeship. Maggie wonders if she could do it somewhere else but Ben thinks she has to either go back or just stay on the sofa. Next morning, Brody and Simone wake up together in the caravan. Simone asks if he has any regrets. Brody says his only regret is waiting so long to tell Ziggy. Simone gets a text from Maggie telling her not to come in so they decide to take the day off together.

Ben and Maggie sit down beside Ziggy and tell her she needs to go back to work. Ziggy doesn’t want to have to deal with Justin. Maggie tells her that if she gives up her apprenticeship then Brody wins. Ben drives Ziggy to the garage where Justin is working. He asks if she’s back and Ziggy sarcastically says she put on her overalls because they’re in this season. Justin directs her to do a grease and oil change. Ben tells Ziggy to call him if she needs anything and exchanges awkward farewell nods with Justin.

Colby and Dean walk near the surf club; Colby says he’ll be back and Dean says Bella will be thirty by the time he is. Willow and Bella appear and Bella demands Colby take her to Ross’ grave. Colby refuses. She then asks Dean. Colby tells her to look after herself and Willow realises he hasn’t changed his plan. After he’s gone, Bella demands Willow and Dean tell her what’s going on. Back at the flat, Colby has changed into smart clothes. Bella turns up and asks if he was just going to go without telling her. Colby says he thought it would be easiest and Dean and Willow will look after her. Bella says he promised he would and if he goes to jail she’ll have no-one.

At the Diner, Ben and Maggie chat about Ziggy returning to work. Brody and Simone come in holding hands and Ben and Maggie immediately get up to leave; when Brody says they don’t have to, Maggie says they do. Irene, in a disapproving tone of voice, notes that the rumours are true. Brody simply orders two flat whites. Upstairs, Bella recalls how Ross used to treat Colby badly. Colby says he was thinking more of what he’d done to Michelle, Chelsea and Willow and that he’d never stop if he didn’t kill him. Bella insists Colby can’t take the easy way out: He has to stay and deal with what he’s done because she needs him. Dean and Willow arrive and Colby says he’s changed his mind and isn’t going to turn himself in. They banter about ordering pizza.

Brody and Simone walk into a park area with a picnic basket. Simone thanks Brody for sticking up for her. Brody says he doesn’t want people to treat her like the other woman, since she’s the only woman. They sit down on the ground and he insists on kissing her in public. Back at the garage, Ziggy gets frustrated as she fails to unscrew a bolt but refuses Justin’s offer of help. She tells him they’re not friends anymore: She’ll finish her apprenticeship and then leave.

Ben and Maggie arrive back at the farm, both annoyed at Brody and Simone’s behaviour. Ziggy arrives back soon after and thanks them for getting her to go back to work. Ben convinces her to go for a surf with him. As they’re walking to the beach, they come across Brody and Simone kissing. Ben wants to walk away but Ziggy storms over, pushes Simone out of the way and punches Brody. Justin also arrives as Ben drags Ziggy away.
