Extended Summary
In the motel room, Dean is looking anxious. Colby tries to get him to rest but he says he can’t sleep, wanting to go out to get something to eat or drink. Colby stops him, insisting he needs to get the pills out of his system and ignoring his claim that he already has done. Dean insists on at least choosing what they watch on television but after rapidly flicking through the channels he finds nothing he wants. At the Morgans’ garage, Raffy and Mason have produced a tiny amount of cannabis oil but Mason says that’s fine because they only need one drop at a time. Justin knocks on the door and Raffy hastily repeats that it’s a controlled environment and they can’t let light in. Raffy goes to the door where Justin is momentarily puzzled by the smell before asking if he should get them something from the Diner. Mason says he’ll make something later so Justin goes on his own. Mason notes they’d better start on Raffy’s project.
At the Diner, Leah congratulates Ryder on his work on the epilepsy awareness day. Justin arrives and adds his compliments, suggesting Ryder goes round to see Raffy and takes the last of the cupcakes, paying $20 for them. Justin and Leah quickly usher him out, ignoring his suggestion that he call Raffy first. Leah flirtatiously notes that she has the house to herself…and Jasmine, standing behind her, pipes up that she’s free and suggests a girls’ night in. Leah hastily says she needs to finish up a blog. Jasmine asks what it’s about. Shortly after, Justin and Leah arrive back at the caravan park house with Justin amused that Leah now needs to write a blog on the key to eternal happiness. Leah has arranged to meet Jasmine in the morning as compensation. Justin wonders what to do with his takeaway; Leah says it’s just decoy moussaka and they kiss.
At the Morgan house, Raffy and Mason have set up the actual project in the garage and Mason has the cannabis oil in a bottle. He uses a blood pressure machine to give Raffy a check-up, saying it is an actual trial but also pointing out that, whether it works or not, it’s illegal and Raffy can choose not to do it or to stop. Raffy says she just wants to be normal. After checking her blood pressure is normal, Mason places a drop of the oil in her mouth and says they have to wait. Later, he gives her a diary and says to write down her mood, any side effects and her sleep pattern. Raffy notes she’s a bit queasy but says it could just be hunger. Ryder arrives with the cupcakes; Mason insists she have some proper food first and says he’ll make some pasta. He gets her to write down “Bit queasy” in the diary first.
Back at the motel, Colby is on the phone to Willow while Dean frets nearby. He asks about Bella and gets Dean to talk to her; Dean sarcastically says he’s peachy before handing the phone back and rushing to throw up. Colby says it’s going to be a fun night. Back at the caravan park house, Leah and Justin are in bed having just finished off a session. Leah is amused that Justin is surprised at how good it was. He kisses her and she tells him he’s forgiven. He says that was easy. Leah laughs at Justin’s faux pas and he starts a long ramble about putting his foot in it before Leah tells him to stop talking and they melt into a kiss.
Dean is tossing and turning in bed as the microwave pings. Colby offers him some food but Dean knocks the plate aside, saying he needs something to help him sleep. Colby offers him some water, having to unscrew the bottle for him. Dean says he hates him for this. Later, Colby mops Dean’s brow as he is feverish but Dean pulls away. Dean says this wouldn’t be happening if Colby had listened to him about Ross and apologises for not stopping him, saying Colby was supposed to be the smart one with a future. Colby insists he couldn’t let Ross go. Dean asks him if it was worth it, losing Chelsea and everything that’s happening now.
Ryder and Raffy finish watching their movie and prepare to watch another one. Mason checks Raffy’s feeling better but also suggests she needs to get to bed. Ryder accepts it and Justin walks in on their good night kiss. He notes that it’s getting late and insists on driving Ryder home. Raffy chides Mason for telling her to go to bed in front of her boyfriend. Mason is slightly apologetic but reminds her to write down when she goes to sleep. Meanwhile, Justin brings Ryder back to Leah and they exchange flirtatious looks as Ryder helps himself to the moussaka. Leah tells him to have it in his room, saying she’s not Alf (Justin mouths his agreement). After Ryder’s gone, Leah offers Justin “coffee”.
Justin runs into Mason, who was checking on Raffy, when he gets home and Mason wonders what took him so long. Justin gives a lengthy spiel about a flat tyre and Mason says he wasn’t that interested. Next morning, Mason gives Raffy another blood pressure test. She notes that for once she didn’t wake up during the night and feels relaxed. Justin comes through, with Mason explaining the test without mentioning anything else. After he’s gone, saying he’s going for a surf, Mason tells Raffy she should have another drop after school and then one every twenty-four hours.
Raffy drops round the caravan park house to collect Ryder and gets a text from Marilyn, telling Leah and Ryder that they’ve arrived in Germany and are on their way to see Jett. She hopes things are going to be okay. Leah heads to the Diner and finds Justin waiting for her. He asks what she’s doing later but they are interrupted by Mason, who wonders what happened to Justin’s surf. Justin says he suddenly felt hungry. Leah says she has to go meet Jasmine for a run and Mason calls Justin over to a table, saying he’ll shout him.
Dean is getting increasingly anxious and tries to force his way out past Colby, pushing him. Colby stands his ground and after a brief struggle, Dean collapses. Meanwhile, Jasmine races an exhausted Leah to a flag on the beach. She notes she’s used to a different running partner. Leah hopes he’s back soon, then realises what she’s said and apologises. Justin approaches them from his surf and he and Leah chat while Jasmine gets a call from Colby. She goes to the motel and finds Dean passed out; Colby says it’s been twenty minutes. Jasmine asks if he’s taken anything and Colby admits he’s stopped taking something. Jasmine is horrified to realise he’s detoxing, saying it’s dangerous.
