Extended Summary

Ben has given Dean a short tour of the board shop and confirms that he relies on word of mouth rather than foot traffic. Dean gives a critical opinion of a board Ben has made to order before quietly excusing himself to go and sign forms. Alf says Ben’s taking a chance on him but Ben says Dean knows his stuff and Ziggy’s vouched for him. Meanwhile, Colby arrives back at the Diner flat and tells Chelsea he stayed behind after his shift to look for leads on Bella again. He thinks Neil’s either a magician or a liar. Chelsea doesn’t think he was lying and suggests they think outside the box: Instead of looking for Bella, they look for Ross.

At the Diner, Jasmine talks to Irene about the implantation. She says Robbo is meeting her there afterwards but probably taking Tori home first. Moments later, Robbo turns up with Tori still with him. Jasmine seems a bit put out but doesn’t object to her joining them. Leah enters and asks Tori how it went. Robbo is confident. Up in the flat, Chelsea asks Colby what Ross was into. Colby can only think of gambling. Chelsea asks about Bella; Colby says she was a good runner but Ross never let her join athletics clubs. Chelsea wonders if he has any family or property he could go to. Colby suggests he’d get as far away as possible so Chelsea wonders if he could have got a forged passport. She senses she’s annoying Colby but he says she’s given him an idea.

Ziggy runs into Ben on the beach and jokingly accuses him of slacking off. Ben says he’s trying out a board for a customer and has Dean at the shop. Ziggy looks horrified but Ben thinks having Dean there is a good idea, since he can surf and help Maggie with the fundraiser. Ziggy says she has to help Brody with a garlic emergency at Salt. In fact, she goes to the shop where she finds Alf but no Dean. He returns a few moments later, pointing out the snack he’s brought from the Diner as the obvious answer to where he’s been. Ziggy asks why he brought everything outside and Dean explains it’s to attract passing trade. He says Alf was keeping an eye on it and there’s a low crime rate in Summer Bay. Alf mutters that it’s got higher since Dean’s been around. Ziggy tells Dean not to mess up.

Tori says she’d better get home and leave Robbo and Jasmine to it. Robbo wants to drive her but Leah says she will and Irene comments on Robbo crowding her. Jasmine suggests she and Robbo go down the beach and Robbo goes to get changed. Tori chats to Leah about how good Robbo was supporting her. Jasmine is surprised to hear he went into the room. Upstairs, Robbo is greeted by Colby and Chelsea. Colby asks him to get Lance to find out if Ross has taken Bella overseas. Robbo says that since Ross is Bella’s father it isn’t a crime if he has, so Lance wouldn’t be able to get subpoenas. He says to let him know if he gets any more evidence. Jasmine comes up and Robbo leaves with her.

Leah and Tori pull up at the Morgan house. Tori wonders if she should warn Robbo and recalls that he hesitated before coming in. She says she didn’t realise it could be a problem. Down by the beach, Robbo is telling Jasmine that he wanted to help Colby. Jasmine asks him about the embryo transference, asking some very leading questions, but Robbo is evasive and says the afternoon is about them.

Dean wonders why the board shop isn’t nearer the surf and Ziggy explains that her family own the pier so don’t have to pay rent. Dean says there are two things he knows about. Ziggy asks if one of them’s beer so he amends it to three: Beer, picking up chicks and surfing. Ben comes back and, to Ziggy’s shock, gives Dean the keys and asks him to close up while he does fundraising stuff. He also compliments him on bringing the stuff outside. Colby and Chelsea come past and Dean jokes about “trading up to something sexier”, before explaining he meant the board. Colby isn’t amused and Chelsea confirms to Dean that it’s about Bella. Later, Chelsea is on the phone to her mother but she refuses to go against Neil and says Chelsea chose Colby over the family. Chelsea tells Colby she wanted her mum to look at Neil’s files but not only is she not doing that, she isn’t coming to the wedding.

At the surf club, Robbo takes a call from Tori who tells him Jasmine knows he went in with her. Jasmine comes over and asks Robbo why he didn’t tell her. Robbo says he didn’t want to make things weird and upset her but Jasmine isn’t happy he hid something. Meanwhile, Ziggy is checking Dean is dropping the keys back. Dean gets confirmation from Alf that he did a good job, although Alf declines a hug. Dean tells Ziggy he’s got a chance to talk about and make boards and sell them to hot chicks: He’s not going to mess it up. Ziggy agrees to stop keeping an eye on him. Dean thanks her for the job.

Alf collects some food for Ryder from Leah at the Diner and they discuss how he’s only got computer studies left and is studying hard. Tori and Jasmine come in separately. Tori apologises, saying it was her idea for Robbo to come in, but Jasmine says it’s not her fault and Robbo should have told her. Tori goes to the gym and tells Robbo they won’t know for a week so his focus can be elsewhere in the meantime. She encourages him to make up with Jasmine; Robbo thinks they’ll work through it.

Dean enters Salt where Colby is insisting to Chelsea that Ross isn’t smart. Dean says he’s good at playing people but Colby insists he never fooled him. They explain about Neil’s information. Dean wonders about breaking in, before assuring Chelsea that he knows it would be dumb. Colby admits it’s tempting and says he has no idea of his next move. Dean says he’s going to get more beer but instead goes onto the balcony and calls Taz, asking about the PI he hired when a scumbag ran off with his missus. At the gym, Jasmine comes in and Robbo apologises to her. Jasmine says she wants to be involved but they can’t be together if he isn’t honest.
