Extended Summary
Dean is finishing a surf. Willow comes up the beach and calls out to him. Dean tries to walk away, then tries to pretend he didn’t see her. Willow says she wants things to stop being weird so they can go back to being mates but Dean says it’s not possible. Outside the surf club, Raffy and Ty have told Ryder and Coco about John’s rap act but aren’t in the mood to see the funny side since they still think John and Marilyn are arguing. Ryder says he’s going to go and get ready for the “festivities”. A comment from him about Maggie causes the others to ask Coco about her: She says Brody’s going to pick her up so she can go and see her.
Brody and Coco arrive back at the farmhouse but Ziggy tells them to use the hand sanitiser before approaching Maggie and also tells Coco to change out of her school uniform after being around other kids all day. Brody goes to leave, thinking it should be an Astoni affair, but Maggie asks him to stay. With things becoming ever more awkward, Ben invites Brody to help him with the cooking. Meanwhile, Ryder arrives home but is shocked to find Alf there having lunch. He tries to get Alf to agree to go out that evening, suggesting he take Leah and Roo to the RSL and even giving him $5 for drinks. Alf presses him for the reason and he eventually admits he wants to have Coco over. Alf says there’s no way they’ll be allowed alone in the house.
Marilyn arrives home and apologises to John for not calling. John says he understands why she did what she did but thinks they should tell Ty now things are sorted with Jodi. Marilyn admits that they aren’t sorted. Down by the beach, Raffy has filled Ty in on exactly what sort of “festivities” Ryder and Coco are planning, leaving him squirming somewhat. However, he then sees Jodi on the beach and realises who she is. He runs off in a panic, ignoring her calling after him.
Dean arrives back at the flat to find Brett sitting outside. Brett says he wants Dean to do one last job to pay off the debt and it’s right there in the Bay. Once they get into the flat, he outlines the plan: He wants Dean to scope out Salt for a robbery, taking the keys and finding out where the safe is, and act as look-out. Dean isn’t keen but Brett isn’t taking no for an answer.
Ben, Maggie, Ziggy and Coco are sitting down to have cake. However, Maggie ends up rewashing her fork, then says she isn’t hungry and is going to have a shower. Back at the Palmer house, John asks Marilyn if Jodi could be lying. Marilyn says she trusts her. Ty runs home in a panic, saying Jodi’s in town. Marilyn admits she brought her. John gets a call from Raffy saying she’s with Jodi at the surf club, and assures Ty they’re on his side. Marilyn says if she had a son like Ty, she’d be devastated at losing him, and thinks Jodi deserves to be listened to.
Brody meets Willow outside the surf club and asks her about her new living quarters. Willow says it’s less awkward now Justin’s in the city and not watching her all the time. Brody shows her his Narcotics Anonymous token, saying he’s been clean 12 months. Willow is upset about how things are with Dean. Brody tells her to focus on her recovery. Meanwhile, Roo arrives home and is ambushed by Ryder, who tries to get her to go see a French film and take Alf with her. Alf cuts in and explains. Ryder attempts to purloin some caravan keys but Alf sees him and isn’t convinced by his claim that he was going to change the towels.
Ty arrives at the surf club with John and Marilyn. Jodi is sitting with Raffy. Ty makes to leave but John and Raffy both give him words of encouragement. Ty tells Jodi that he doesn’t need to know more than that she left him and didn’t come back. Jodi tells him that he doesn’t owe her anything but she owes him the truth. Later, the two of them are down on the beach: Jodi has obviously filled Ty in. She says his grandparents thought he was better off without her. Ty wonders why she didn’t fight for him. She says she had no money, thought he’d have more opportunities with them and was young and stupid. However, she insists she didn’t forget about him and wants to be there for him now.
Back at the surf club, John thanks Raffy for being there for Ty but makes a pointed remark at Marilyn about being a team. Ty comes back and says he has Jodi’s number and will call her when he’s got his head around it. Marilyn thinks that everything has ended up okay but John isn’t happy that she made decisions without consulting the rest of them. Meanwhile, Maggie has come back from her shower but still refuses to eat or watch movies with the rest of the family, saying she’s going to go to bed and might sleep through. Ziggy and Coco comment on how she’s acting like a prisoner in her own home. Ziggy decides to go and see Brody. Coco asks for a lift to go and see Ryder. After they’ve gone, Ben looks morosely at the “Welcome Home” banner.
Dean enters the surf club, heading upstairs. He bumps into Willow but is reluctant to talk. Willow says she’s sorry for using him to get over Justin and letting him pay off her debts, but he’s a good guy and she wants to be friends when he’s ready. Dean carries on up to Salt, where Ziggy comments to Brody that he looks heartbroken. Dean takes notice of the position of the keys and safe. Ziggy offers him a game of pool while Brody gives him some free food, saying he’d throw it out otherwise, and offers to look for work for him.
Downstairs, Ryder is on the phone trying to book a room, but the other party rings off when he mentions his only ID is a student card. Coco appears and, after initially trying to bluff her, Ryder eventually admits he hasn’t found anywhere for them to go. They are determined to find somewhere however. Meanwhile, Dean meets Brett at the flat and says the job’s off, claiming he couldn’t find the keys or safe. Brett says the job’s going ahead with or without him, and if he pulls out then he’ll go looking for Willow.
