Colby, Dean and Willow must rely on their old friendship to face a bigger threat. Maggie retakes control of her life and family.
Extended Summary
Dean is home alone when Colby turns up. Colby says he has to prep for his tribunal. He adds that Robbo’s in the city trying to get the DPP to drop the charges against him after Ebony’s confession. However, Ebony’s arrest doesn’t help Colby, since everything she told the police and the press about him was true plus he then accessed police files. Dean goes to leave but Colby realises he’s hiding something. Dean admits he’s stuffed up. At the surf club, Brody and Ziggy approach Willow and invite her to have dinner with them. Willow thinks they’re following Justin in keeping an eye on her but they insist it’s not that. Colby turns up and tells Willow he needs her help with Dean, calling it a “Mr Chang’s fish bar” situation, which is enough to make her agree.
Maggie emerges from the bedroom to discover Ben’s the only other one home. She suggests calling the girls back but Ben says they’ve probably already made plans. Maggie notices he’s taken the “Welcome Home” sign down. Ben admits they thought her coming home would be more of a celebration. Maggie feels like she’s driven both the girls away. At the Diner, Ryder bemoans the fact they can’t book a room without a credit card. Coco says they don’t need a room, just a blanket under the stars. They go to leave but encounter Alf. He tells them they can’t go for a walk because there’s a storm coming, plus he has jobs for Ryder at home. Coco offers to come and help but Alf says he’ll take her home.
Willow and Colby arrive back at the flat. Willow is annoyed that Dean told Colby about her gambling problem, only to discover that she’s just done that herself, since Dean just told him about the one bet. She says she couldn’t go to Colby for help since he was either accusing her of setting him up or in a coma. Colby wants her to get the keys to Salt from the Morgans, but assures her they’re not robbing it. Dean gets a text from Brett and Colby tells him to text back that he’ll meet him there. Willow refuses to help unless she knows the plan. Later, with the storm raging outside, Colby chats to Murray on the phone. He tells Dean that the police will arrest him with the others so no-one will know he was the one that spoke to them. Dean isn’t happy being a dog, saying it’s against the River Boy code. Colby says there’s no time to think of anything else.
Ziggy and Brody are both at Salt late. Ziggy brings Brody a drink. Downstairs, Dean lets himself in. He is shocked to hear Ziggy turn the music on and comes up to find her and Brody dancing. Moments later, he hears Brett and the others arriving so ushers the pair into the store room, telling them to trust him. Back at the farm house, Maggie and Coco run into each other in the hall, both dressed for bed, and chat briefly about it being Maggie’s first night back. Maggie finds Ben sleeping on the couch. He says he thought it was what she wanted. Maggie asks if he thinks she’s being over-cautious and Ben says she’s been through the wringer. Maggie doesn’t think that’s an answer so Ben says she knows her body and he’ll take his lead from her.
Brett and his gang are taking Salt apart, stealing cash and booze. Brody and Ziggy listen from the store room but neither have their phone to call the police and Ziggy refuses to let Brody play hero. Dean initially claims he doesn’t know where the safe is, but when Brett is about to go in the store room, he says it’s in the kitchen. At that moment, Murray turns up with other police officers, who arrest everyone in sight. After the others have gone, Murray lets Brody and Ziggy out. Colby and Willow are waiting at the police station. Colby wonders what happened between Willow and Dean. Willow admits she was using him and still loves Justin. Colby is unimpressed. The police bring in Brett, Dean and the others, taking them through to the cells. Murray tells Willow and Colby that no-one suspects Dean.
Brody and Ziggy arrive home and manage to disturb Ben. They tell him about the robbery. None of them notice Maggie listening from the doorway as they agree she shouldn’t be told and needs to concentrate on getting better. Next morning, Ziggy fills Coco in but also swears her to secrecy. Brody and Ziggy go to make their statements and make an excuse when Maggie emerges. Maggie tells Ben she wants to go down the beach and watch him surf. Later, Ryder turns up and suggests to Coco that they go down the boat sheds. Coco tells him they don’t need to: They’ve got the place to themselves.
Willow and Colby run into Dean near the Diner. He explains that one of Brett’s gang cracked and told the police he was in charge, so no-one thought anything of Dean being released. However, he seems reluctant to talk about it. Later, Colby is getting ready for the tribunal in the flat. He comments to Dean on how Willow used him. Dean thinks it wasn’t all Willow’s fault: He knew she wasn’t as into it as he was but thought he could change her mind.
Ben rejoins Maggie on the beach after his surf. Brody and Ziggy join them and Maggie reveals she knows about the robbery. She says she made them feel like she didn’t want to be bothered by them but it stops now, asking them how married life is. Back at the house, Ryder paces nervously in the kitchen. Coco appears and says the bed and music are sorted and they just need to light the candles. However, everything goes wrong: They close their eyes to kiss but miss, Coco takes her top off but it gets stuck, and when they try to walk to the bedroom they trip over. They admit it feels forced and think the universe is telling them they’re not ready.
Dean arrives at Salt and asks Brody if he’s OK. Brody says he and Ziggy could have been hurt but he knows Dean protected them and offers him a half-price special. Willow sits with Dean and suggests he buy her lunch. After a few awkward moments, Dean agrees. At the police station, Colby has a brief phone conversation with Robbo. Murray warns him that McCarthy knows what happened the previous night, including that he was working with Dean. Colby dryly notes it’s going to be fun.
