Can John and Marilyn repair the cracks in their fragile family? Ziggy sacrifices her honeymoon to be with Maggie in her time of need.
Extended Summary
Raffy sees Ryder outside the surf club. She looks like she’s going to walk on but then Ryder calls out to her. Raffy tells him about Maggie being back in hospital, suggesting Coco could use support. Ryder thanks her and Raffy makes a pointed remark about friends telling each other important things. At the hospital, Coco watches from the doorway as Ben helps Maggie take a drink and says she should be feeling stronger soon. Coco gets a text from Ryder offering help.
Brody surfaces from the water and tells Ziggy he can’t find the fuse. He ends up pulling Ziggy (who is wearing a bikini) into the water with him. As they splash each other, her phone registers another missed call from Coco. At the Palmer house, John and Marilyn steal themselves before going back in to see Ty, who is making himself a snack. Marilyn asks if he’s all right while John somewhat mechanically says that they accept his choices regardless of sexual orientation. John takes Ty’s snack away and offers to make them all lunch. Marilyn would rather have leftovers. Raffy arrives, saying she needs to get some books. Ty tries to apologise but John interrupts to ask her to stay for lunch. Raffy leaves and Ty goes to his room. John agrees to Marilyn going after Raffy while he chats to Ty.
Marilyn finds Raffy and initially tries to make small talk about Brody and Ziggy, before trying to talk about Ty and Raffy needing to come home. Raffy doesn’t want to talk about it to Marilyn however, saying things are easy with her family. Back at the house, John asks Ty to connect his bluetooth, which Ty does straightaway. John bewilders him by saying it’s important that all parties have access to communication paths. Less formally, John says he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing but he and Marilyn are in Ty’s corner. Ty is grateful but says he needs time.
Ryder sees Coco at the surf club and Coco tells him about Maggie refusing treatment. She again makes a call to Ziggy. Brody and Ziggy have just made it up on deck and Ziggy hears the phone vibrating. She answers and Coco tells her about Maggie collapsing and still refusing treatment. Ziggy says she’ll be there once they get the engine started. After ending the call, she berates herself for stranding them there while her family need her. She searches unsuccessfully for a spare fuse, while Brody tries with the same lack of success to call the owner. Ziggy is frustrated that this happened because of Maggie wanting to be at her wedding.
Coco has told Ben and Maggie the situation with Ziggy. Both understand. Coco suggests they also need to call Diana but Maggie isn’t keen, saying she wouldn’t cope. Coco gets a text from Ziggy with an update and Ben says he’ll sort it. At the Diner, John and Marilyn tell Alf about their differing success over Raffy and Ty. Marilyn wonders if John should talk to Raffy but both John and Alf think he wouldn’t have more luck. Ryder, who has been sat nearby with a friend, notes Raffy is still angry with him and Ty isn’t answering his calls either.
Ben heads out in a small boat, eventually reaching the house boat and collecting Ziggy while Brody stays to wait for the owner, who he’s finally got hold of. Back at the hospital, Coco tries to convince Maggie to keep fighting. Maggie doesn’t want to give up but wants to be strong for whatever moments she has left. Ben and Ziggy eventually show up. Ziggy reminds Maggie she promised to reconsider treatment after the wedding and Ben backs her up. Ziggy says if Maggie really wants to stop treatment they have to support her, but if she has any doubts she should continue. Maggie agrees.
John notices Ty working on his songs and suggests he talk to Ryder, before realising Ty still has feelings for him. Ty says he knows there’s no hope. John suggests rejection’s the same for everyone. There’s a knock at the door. John admits he said Ty was ready for a visit and offers to send Ryder away. Instead, Ty answers the door to him. After an awkward greeting, they head to the Diner. At the hospital, Ziggy thanks Coco for calling her. Coco says not to keep her in the dark again, asking how Ziggy would have felt if she’d been left on the house boat in ignorance. Ben offers to take them home but Brody turns up and says he’ll do it. After the others have gone, Ben calls Diana.
Outside the Diner, Marilyn stops Raffy and tries to get her to go back inside. Raffy is upset that she fell in love and got her heart broken, wondering if it’s always going to be like this. She is surprised when Marilyn comforts her. On the veranda, Ryder and Ty discuss Raffy feeling rejected. Ty says he knows what that feels like, adding that he’s mostly over Ryder. Ryder jokingly agrees that he’s amazing before saying he wants Raffy and Ty to sort things out.
Marilyn has Raffy propped up on the sofa with a drink, calling it just like old times. Ty arrives back and tries to clear the air with Raffy but she is angry that he made her think he liked her. She announces she’s moving back to her old home permanently. John arrives and he and Marilyn convince her to stay the night, although she says it won’t make a difference. As Raffy goes to her room, Marilyn worries about losing her.
