Extended Summary

Coco comes out to greet a minibus that pulls up outside the farm house, with Irene and several others emerging; Irene says John was driving slowly. Raffy and Ryder produce the balloons and go inside with Coco. Hunter and Olivia also appear with Hunter insisting on carrying the cool boxes himself. Irene asks Olivia if something’s going on between them, which she denies. John prepares to follow the others but Irene and Marilyn remind him he needs to move the bus to stop Ziggy finding out what’s going on. Inside, Ben greets Leah and learns Maggie is still in the bathroom. Maggie emerges and Ben compliments her on her appearance. They get a text from Brody saying they’re on their way.

Jasmine arrives at Salt, on the phone to Mason who has been delayed by an emergency at work. She says she’ll wait for him there. She encounters Colby and explains the situation, again stressing that it’s not a date. Colby admits he’s also new to town and wasn’t invited so Jasmine offers to buy a fellow newbie a drink. Later, she asks him what his story is. Colby cryptically says that problems from his past followed him there. Jasmine says her problem that followed her was David and wonders who his is, but Colby says it’s too early to talk about that. Mason turns up and asks if she’s ready but Jasmine says they’ve just got a round in and she can meet everyone another time. Mason is clearly disappointed but covers it up and leaves them to it.

Brody and Ziggy arrive at the farm house with Ziggy convinced she’s walking in on a surprise party. She says everyone can jump out on her now but no-one does. Brody points out she said she didn’t want a surprise party and Ziggy sits down on the sofa disgruntled. Brody suggests they go and drink wine at the gazebo. As they head out, they are greeted by the partygoers gathered around the gazebo, shouting “Surprise!” Ziggy is delighted and hugs Ben and Coco, saving a special thank you for Maggie, realising it’s her idea.

Later, Hunter gets Olivia a drink, commenting on how he knows what she likes. Irene, Leah and Marilyn watch the interaction; Irene asks about Jennifer and Leah says Nick said she’d settled in fine. Raffy, who has been named official photographer, takes a group photo of Hunter, Olivia and Brody, and the adults notice how tactile Hunter and Olivia are. Hunter wonders where Mason is and Brody decides to call him. Although Mason is at home, he tells Brody he’s still at work and won’t be able to make it. He says to wish Ziggy happy birthday from him, then settles down on the couch with Buddy. Back at Salt, Jasmine quizzes Colby who only says that he was born not far away. She asks him what happens when a cop and a nurse go into a bar. The answer: They get drunk together.

Leah joins Maggie inside the farm house, saying everyone’s waiting for the cake outside. She realises Maggie looks scared. Maggie tries to make out it’s nothing or just Ziggy growing up, before admitting she found another lump and the cancer might have spread. She asks Leah to keep it to herself for now and they head outside, where everyone sings Happy Birthday. Maggie passes the cake to Leah and tells Ben they need a family photo. Ben wrangles Ziggy and Coco together and Raffy takes the photo, with Leah looking on worriedly.

Later on, Brody and Ziggy are dancing. Maggie watches them and Ben joins her. They comment on Ziggy being twenty and Maggie says it’s gone so fast. Ben says there’s plenty of time to come. He leads her to join the dancing. John grabs Marilyn and they dance as well. Irene remarks to Leah that you don’t often see love like that. Later, Hunter and Olivia are deep in conversation while Raffy cuddles up to Coco, who is sat with Ryder. Brody leads Ziggy inside and tells her to close her eyes, presenting her with a charm bracelet. He tells her he loves her, checking she knows that. Ziggy says she does now.

Colby and Jasmine head out onto the balcony, commenting on the view and the fact they’ve had fun. Colby kisses Jasmine but immediately backs off, offering to call her a cab. Jasmine says she’s fine to get home. Back at the farm house, Raffy takes a photo of Ryder and Coco, then Coco gets Ryder to take a photo of her with Raffy (and a second one after John gets in the first one). Ryder and Coco sneak off as the adults gather in the kitchen. Irene wonders where Ryder is; despite Raffy feigning ignorance, Ben catches him about to give Coco a good night kiss in the hall and tells them to say good night by text. Irene bustles everyone out. Leah tells Maggie she can talk to her and Maggie says she’ll be fine. Outside, after showing off the bracelet, Brody and Ziggy decide to go inside for some privacy, leaving Hunter and Olivia alone. The pair decide to finish their drinks then get going.

Next morning, Colby is jogging on the beach and finds Jasmine coming back from a swim. She wonders about the previous night. Colby says that since they met when she was reporting a crime, a relationship would be inappropriate. Jasmine checks it’s okay to be friends. Meanwhile, Ziggy comes outside to find Maggie clearing up and says she’ll handle it. Maggie notes she’ll have help: Hunter and Olivia are asleep nearby. Ziggy wakes them and they say they must have fallen asleep talking. They decide to go to the Diner.

Maggie is sitting alone when Ben enters and says he’s got a message from Baz saying the job’s his if he wants it. He quickly realises something is wrong. Maggie says they need to go to hospital now.
