Maggie’s life takes another disastrous turn. Dean gives Ash a dangerous solution to his subpoena. Will Olivia & Hunter get back together?
Extended Summary
Ben and Maggie arrive at the hospital. Ben says Maggie should have told him earlier but Maggie says twenty-four hours didn’t make a difference. Ben softens as Maggie says she was just pleased to see everyone happy. Later, Ash is chatting to Dean about being subpoenaed. They run into Tori coming out of the lift; she asks if Ash is going to dialysis and he bitterly asks what does she care. He leaves in the lift and Dean has a go at Tori for making Ash testify for the person to blame for his son’s death. Tori says she tried to stop it. She is approached by Ben, who takes her to Maggie and says she found a lump.
At the Diner, Irene frets to Marilyn about Olivia not coming home but at that moment Olivia and Hunter come in. They explain they’ve just got back from the farm. Olivia asks for coffee but Hunter says he needs to get home to shower and sleep. Irene is worried something happened but Olivia says they just talked. Meanwhile, Hunter arrives home to questioning looks from Alf and Leah. He says a bunch of them kicked on around the campfire, stressing Brody and Ziggy were there as well as Olivia. They warn him that things ended badly with Jennifer and he shouldn’t move on to another train wreck, but Leah notes it’s good he and Olivia are friends again.
Tori is examining Maggie, who explains about the pain she felt when reaching up and the lump she found while changing. Tori freezes somewhat when she feels the lump and says they need to run more tests. She adds that it could be an infection or it could be lymphoma. They need to do a biopsy, check her bloods and do a scan. Leaving Maggie and Ben, she finds Ash and offers to give him his results: His kidneys are nearly back to normal so he can go home and come in as an outpatient. She adds that she told Dean that she and Robbo both tried to stop the subpoena but Ash isn’t interested.
Tori comes into the Diner, where Irene and Marilyn question her about Ash. Tori gives them brief details but doesn’t know where Ash is going to be staying. When Irene notes that Tori can’t look after both Ash and Robbo, Tori gets affronted. Justin comes in and offers to join her but Tori says she’s going to eat outside. Irene admits she put her foot in it. Justin follows Tori down to the beach. Tori says Dean had a go at her but adds that he was right: She’s been saying all along that she was helping Robbo for Ash’s sake, but all she’s done is hurt him. She notes they were close to getting back together. Justin says the trial will be over in a few days but Tori thinks it’s too late.
Olivia turns up at the Diner having got changed. She asks Leah if Hunter said anything about her and Leah says he’s happy they’re friends again. Irene realises Olivia wants more than friendship. Olivia says she’s happy with it for now. Irene thinks she should tell him how she feels. Down on the beach, Ash and Dean are looking out to sea. Ash says he’ll be surfing again in a week and Dean gives him three days. He mentions having a go at Tori. Ash says he shouldn’t have done but is grateful. Dean suggests they go and get food.
Ben and Maggie arrive at the Diner. While Ben gives his order to Irene, Leah checks with Maggie that she’s told Ben about the lump. Maggie confirms she has and is waiting for results. Meanwhile, Olivia meets Hunter near the beach and realises he took so long to meet her because he fell back asleep. She tells him that she’s been reminded of what they used to have and wants it back. Hunter says he doesn’t. Olivia goes to walk away and Hunter stops her, explaining that she’s helped him through a lot of tough times but he doesn’t need her that way any longer and they’ve both changed. Then he walks away.
Maggie looks through the photos from the party, stopping on the family photo she requested. Leah checks on them and Ben remembers he never rang Baz about the job so steps outside to do it. Irene tells Marilyn she’s heading home but Maggie tunes out the conversation, focusing on the photos. Irene runs into Ash and Dean on the headland. She asks Ash where he’s staying and he says he’s back on the van. Irene points out he shouldn’t be on his own and Dean points out that he’s there. Irene offers to give him his old room but Ash says Alf, Leah and Roo are close by and Dean repeats that he is too. Irene accepts it.
Ben is on the phone to Baz out on the wharf, accepting the job. Alf approaches and wonders how Ben will cope with working for someone else. Ben says his main worry is Maggie and explains about her tests. Leah and Maggie approach; Tori has called asking Maggie to go back in. Ben and Maggie meet Tori and Maggie asks if her cancer’s spread. Tori says the cancer markers are up, meaning the chemotherapy wasn’t as affected as they hoped, and the biopsy indicated an aggressive form of lymphoma. She says they’ve thought of another treatment: Stem cell transplant. She asks if Maggie has any siblings and Maggie mentions her sister in London but Tori’s face falls when she mentions she’s diabetic. She says there’s a transplant register. Ben wants to get tested even though it’s unlikely there’d be a match and asks about the girls. Tori says they’d only be half matches and Coco’s too young. Ben wants to get Ziggy tested but Maggie says to check the register first.
Justin runs into Ash and Dean at Salt. He tells Ash Tori isn’t entirely on board with Kurt but Dean is unforgiving. Justin says Ash should call him if he needs help but Dean says he’s keeping an eye on him and they exchange barbs before Justin leaves. Ash is more concerned with the subpoena: He’ll be charged if he doesn’t turn up or doesn’t talk, which with his record could mean jail time. Dean points out they can’t control what he says. At the Morgan house, Justin greets Tori and admits he gave Ava pizza again. Ash turns up and says he’s going to stop fighting: He’ll testify for Robbo. Ash leaves and Tori thinks things are looking up but Justin thinks it was too easy.
