Justin discovers Brody’s secret. Ash tries to hide his growing feelings. Is Tori telling the truth?

Extended Summary

Ben and Ziggy have just finished a surf together; Ben complains about Ziggy dropping in on him. Maggie approaches and explains she is supervising the Year 10s learning CPR at the surf club. She invites Ben to have coffee with her afterwards. Ben is reluctant, suggesting she should be doing admin instead. After Maggie has gone, Ziggy wonders about Ben’s attitude while also hiding a text from Brody asking to meet, telling Ben she’s going to counselling. Brody is outside his house, while inside, Justin and Tori berate Mason for attacking him. Brody passes through the conversation, saying it’s obviously not going to be resolved. Justin tries and fails to order Mason to forgive Brody.

Justin and Tori go for a walk on the wharf. Tori thinks they can’t force Mason to change his mind and suggest they talk with him when he’s feeling calmer. She adds that she keeps wondering what Kate would say if she could see them. Ash approaches and tells them he’s moved out of the flat. He invites Tori for a coffee but she thinks they should stay out of each other’s way. Ash heads back to the beach house. Irene checks he will be okay sharing the nursery with Luc and wonders if he’ll be sleeping alone, fishing for information about Tori. Ash says the skinny-dipping didn’t even happen and he’s just going to concentrate on Luc.

Ben has joined Maggie for the coffee at the Diner but the conversation is sparse and awkward. Maggie wonders when Ben is going to start making boards and he says he’s going to have to get them right before selling them or he’ll lose his customers. He decides to go for a surf but insists on paying. John and Marilyn are sat nearby and John fails to stop Marilyn going over and inviting Maggie for a drink. John protests that they were meant to be weeding the garden. Marilyn pretends to agree to forget about the drink and go with him, then puts him straight. At the beach house, Ash tells Irene Tori thinks he started the rumour. Irene attempts to give him a lecture about talking to her.

Brody and Ziggy are on the beach as he fills her in on how badly things went with Mason. Ziggy thinks he should stand up for himself. Tori approaches and the pair act innocent, with Ziggy quickly leaving. Tori asks Brody to come back to the house, since Justin is talking to Mason. However, Justin is having no success and when Brody and Tori appear, Mason groans in frustration at being stuck around Brody again, saying he should never have come home. Justin tells them all to go to the car, making it clear it’s not a request.

Marilyn and Maggie are drinking at Salt. Maggie thinks it was naïve to think Ben would get over the redevelopment and get on board with the surf shop idea so quickly. Marilyn suggests they need to remind themselves of how much they love each other. At the Diner, Ziggy gets a text from Brody confirming Tori doesn’t suspect anything. Ben enters and asks her about her counselling; she is evasive and says she’s going to the movies. John tells Ben about their wives going off together and asks him about the surf shop. Ben says it’s his dream but he was hoping to provide for his family with the redevelopment. John suggests he talks to Maggie.

Ben arrives home with Maggie’s favourite food and wine…to find she has his own favourite meal and beer prepared. Both are impressed and conclude they have to talk…“after,”they add as they kiss. Meanwhile, Justin drives the rest of the family, ignoring Mason wondering where they are going. He takes them to a secluded spot in a woodland area where they find two graves marked by plain crosses: Their parents, with Tori explaining places like that are set up for people in witness protection. Justin says they’ve already lost so much and asks if Brody and Mason are going to tear them apart. The two are left alone at the grave; Mason notes he’s still angry with Koby for what he did to them. Brody says he wasn’t thinking straight. Mason asks him about seeing their parents die, understanding the effect it had on him. Brody holds out his hand and after hesitating, Mason accepts it and hugs him. Justin and Tori, watching, breathe a sigh of relief and also hug.

Ben and Maggie are curled up on the couch, wearing very little. Ben admits that he’s felt like he’s not pulling his weight but Maggie tells him it’s not about who brings in what. They kiss…just as Ziggy comes home and quickly closes her eyes, saying she left the movies when she found it wasn’t Cheap Tuesday. She adds that she’ll be at Olivia’s. Instead, she goes to see Brody, who is alone (bar Buddy) with the others having gone for dinner. Ziggy kisses him, partly to congratulate him on sorting things with Mason, partly to erase the image of Ben and Maggie. Brody gives her a pendant and thanks her for keeping him sane. After checking they’ve got the house to themselves for a while, they start getting passionate.

Tori goes round to see Ash and they exchange apologies. Tori says she wasn’t angry with Ash for seeing her naked but for telling people. She says she just wants to move on, forget about her crush and be friends. Ash is silently disappointed but agrees. Tori rejoins Justin at the Diner and fills him in; he is somewhat surprised at the outcome. Mason joins them but Justin decides to go home and leave them to it. Mason thanks him for what he did.

Justin settles himself down at home with a computer controller but then notices Ziggy’s top on one of the chairs. Moments later, Brody and Ziggy enter from the bedroom in a state of undress. Justin holds up the top and asks Ziggy if she’s looking for it.
