Extended Summary

The Morgans’ attempt to confront Brody about his drug use backfires when Brody refuses to engage with them. Tori suspects that Brody really is hooked on drugs – for some people, it only takes once. Worried about his future, the family decide to take matters into their own hands. Brody discovers what this means when he realises his business and personal EFT cards have been either cancelled or are missing from his wallet. Justin and Tori tell him he can have access to money again when he is clean and has proven himself trustworthy. Brody is humiliated and furious, but there’s not much he can do about it. Brody resorts to stealing cash from a sale at the restaurant in order to get money to score. He doesn’t have enough for coke, however, and is torn when the dealer (Zannis) offers him much cheaper ice instead. Presented with no other option, Brody makes the deal. Tori and Justin confront Brody about money missing from Salt. He lies, explaining that he didn’t charge Zac for his steak after he messed up the order. They seem to accept this. Brody says he’s been thinking and he agrees, that drugs are messing with his head and he’s done. Tori and Justin aren’t sure whether to believe him. Returning to Salt, Brody throws the now empty baggie of ice in the trash, much happier now he’s had his hit.

Leah is heartbroken over the imminent loss of Luc, and when Zac catches her in a sad moment, she allows him to offer her the comfort of his arms for a few seconds. She quickly recovers, however, and Zac has to go. Zac later shares his fears with Roo, including his pain that Hunter refuses to engage with him. Roo has a quick word with Hunter, reminding him that he knows what it’s like to try to redeem himself after committing a great wrong. Hunter takes Roo’s words to heart and approaches Zac to give him the opportunity to explain. Zac’s patent regret and pain help convince Hunter he deserves a chance, and the two have lunch together. Leah reveals to Roo how uncertain and alone she feels after the events of the past few months. Roo offers advice over tea once Leah has calmed down – maybe it’s time for Leah to get on the front foot and start making decisions for herself instead of simply waiting for life to happen. If Leah doesn’t work on her marriage with Zac now, she could lose him for good. Leah is left with significant food for thought. Zac takes hope from Roo’s reassurance and a text from Leah asking him to come talk. When Leah turns up, however, she tells him this will be quick. Calm and rational, she tells him she doesn’t think she will ever be able to get past his infidelity. Therefore, she wants a divorce. Stunned, Zac tries to argue, but Leah’s conviction is unassailable and Zac is left reeling.

Roo’s moving back into Summer Bay House. Her new man, James is worried this will mean less ‘sleepovers.’ But she assures him that she’s an adult now – she can have house guests. Roo’s self conscious as she introduces James to first Zac, then Leah, defensively pre-empting Leah’s queries about the age difference. Both Zac and Leah are pleased to see Roo so happy. James and Roo finish clearing out the Apartment, still enjoying each other’s company after a big day of hard graft. When Andrew heads out to grab a coffee, Roo picks something off the ground and is overwhelmed with dizziness. She tries to reach a chair, but doesn’t make it, tumbling to the floor unconscious.
