Sam’s life hangs in the balance as her past catches up with her. Jack’s loss leaves him utterly devastated. Tony is left reeling when he discovers the Bar has been robbed!

Extended Summary

A panicked Sam charges through the bush with a fiercely determined Rusty in pursuit. He wants to finish her once and for all. The soccer game continues at the picnic site, none of them realising what’s happening to poor Sam. Everywhere she turns the bushland looks the same – then Jack props, wondering where Sam got to? Sam continues to run for her life as Jack smiles, telling Kim about how she agreed to getting a place with him – and for Rory too of course. Kim’s stoked for him – you’ve scored yourself a family mate! Jack’s beaming, but that changes when Rachel returns, with no sign of Sam. She manages to hide at the side of a tree – safe for the moment. Meanwhile Jack is getting increasingly worked up – its’ nearly time to pick up Rory from school, she wouldn’t forget that. Clocking the stress – Rachel suggests that Jack pick up Rory from school, while she and Kim wait for Sam. He heads off – call me as soon as she turns up! Sam turns to run from behind the tree, but Rusty lunges and grabs her necklace. It falls to the ground as Sam kicks him hard, in the groin. He’s down on his knees in pain, giving Sam the chance to bolt further away.

At the Surf Club, Tony is trying his hardest to communicate with Martha, who is lost in her thoughts of Ash’s betrayal and her abortion. Tony is concerned to leave Martha to do a shift alone after last weeks stuff up – but she promises it was a wake up call and that it won’t happen again. They’re interrupted by Jack’s arrival with Rory in tow. He asks Tony if he’d mind watching Rory – Sam’s missing. Concerned, Tony agrees to help and as Jack heads out, Colleen enters and mentions that a man was looking for Sam, but seemed to think her name was Kylie. Panicked, Jack tells Tony Sam is in danger and calls the Police before racing off.

McGrath and the troops move off to help find her as Rachel & Kim head off to help Tony with Rory. Rory soon figures out that something is wrong and they all try their best to calm him. In the bush, Rusty is catching up to Sam, as in the distance Jack hears her screams and races toward them. Sam begs for Rusty to leave her be, but he’s backed her to a rock face with no escape. He’s about to finish her, when Jack appears behind him – Rusty turns, Jack launches at him and tackles Rusty to the ground. A fight ensues, but Jack comes out on top as the other police arrive, allowing Jack to comfort a reeling Sam. Rusty lets her know that Shane’s got plenty more friends on the outside – it’s only a matter of time before one of them gets you. Jack heads to the station with Rusty as Sam returns to Rory, who is relieved to see his mum is safe.

By the time Jack arrives home with dinner, the house is empty, accept for a note left by Sam. A goodbye letter explaining that she will never be free of her past and has to keep moving to keep her and Rory safe. Jack is devastated, he’s lost his new family forever.

Having a drink after the long day, Rachel & Kim realise how lucky they are to have one another, hoping that Sam & Rory can leave the past behind them now. Kim gives Rach a loving kiss – grateful for what they have. Meanwhile, Tony checks that Martha is okay to finish the shift, reminding her to put the money from the till in the safe before closing. Frustrated, Martha says she has it under control – relax. Tony leaves as Cam glides in. He smooth talks Martha, asking for a beer and invites her to a VIP club in Yabbie Creek. He eventually wears her down – she’ll go out with him for a drink if he stops hassling her. It’s all light and fun. She starts cleaning up as the patrons all leave – Cam convinces her to finish the clean up tomorrow morning. A tired Martha agrees and is lead out by the smiling Cam. The next morning Tony moves through the Club to open the Bar – then props to see the door lock has been forced open. With apprehension he swings it open to discover the bar has been completely trashed! The till is hanging open, empty! Tony is left reeling…
