Robbie and Kim race down the embankment to help Kit as the others watch on concerned. Kit begins to stir, still dazed from her nasty fall. Kit moans in agony as Kim tends to her broken ankle. He shoots a look of death to Belle, who feels terrible that she is the cause of the accident. Colin straps her ankle but insists the group should keep moving. Kit puts on a brave face but her pain is unbearable as they continue their trek. Kim’s frustrations get the better of him and after another argument with Colin, the decision is made to camp the night and get some rest. Tensions are high and their hope is fading – will they make it out alive?
Matilda is sound asleep on the lounge when suddenly she awakes – horrified by the nightmare she has just had. Lucas tries to calm her and reveals he has made her a special breakfast. Matilda is grateful for Lucas’ support and insists she couldn’t get through this without him. As she picks away at her food, Lucas broaches the topic of Matilda going back to school. Matilda is alarmed, not ready to deal with the thought of everyone making fun of her but Lucas is quick to put her mind at ease. As Matilda moves off to get ready for her appointment at the hospital, there is a knock at the door. Lucas is surprised to find Lee standing there! Lucas insists it’s not a good time but Lee is adamant that this can’t wait. What’s going on? Lucas is stunned by Lee’s revelation and encourages her to tell some one. Lee is adamant no one must find out and seeing how distressed she is, Lucas hesitantly agrees. But what is the huge secret these two are hiding?
Lucas returns home, still rattled by the bombshell Lee has just dropped. He is quick to make an excuse for his whereabouts. Matilda is of the belief he is going out of his way to help her prepare for her return to school and thanks Lucas for his support. Without warning, Matilda moves in for a kiss but Lucas pulls away. This is the last thing he needs right now! Matilda misreads the rejection and races out, deeply embarrassed.
Beth and Tony return home from the Surf Club, neither one sensing the awkwardness that is now between Matilda and Lucas. Matilda and Beth move off to go to the hospital. Once they’re gone, Lucas approaches Tony for some money to buy a new shirt. Tony thinks it’s odd but hands over the money. Later, Lucas approaches Lee with the cash, still feeling guilty for lying to his Dad. Lee is grateful but unbeknownst to them both, Tony has witnessed the exchange from a distance – why on earth is Lucas giving Lee money?
Back at home, Tony confronts Lucas and once again, Lucas has to spin a lie but promises he will not be seeing Lee again. Matilda, who has just arrived home and feeling fragile after her hospital visit, overhears the conversation. She is absolutely crushed that Lucas is hanging out with Lee again. Once alone, Matilda confronts Lucas but his denial that anything is happening between him and Lee just fuels her hurt and anger. Convinced that this is the reason he didn’t want to kiss her, she bolts out of the house, leaving Lucas at a loss of how to deal with the mess.
Back at the Surf Club, it’s all systems go as the search continues. Beth, Tony, Colleen, Alf and Sally are gathered when the topic of Amanda’s funds comes up. Amanda arrives and senses they have been talking about her. They all decide to clear the air and they question Amanda as to how she has managed to find the funds for the search so quickly. Amanda reveals she is using the money she had originally intended to use for her film. The group are overwhelmed by her generosity and their hope of finding their loved ones is renewed.
Matilda is strolling along the beach, wiping away her tears when she spots Lee, she is just about to walk away when she notices Lucas approach Lee. As far as she’s concerned, that’s confirmation they are together and poor Matilda rushes off, absolutely devastated. Lucas reassures Lee her secret is safe and now the question is what will they do now? It is then that Lee removes her jacket and her baby bump becomes evident! Oh my god – Lee is pregnant…but is Lucas the father?
