Extended Summary

Grant arrives at Summer Bay House to tell Pippa he’s moving out of the caravan. Sally arrives home and hands Pippa the post. The cheque from Tom’s life insurance has arrived. She is relieved and tells Grant there were times she and Tom thought they’d made a big mistake buying the caravan park, also mentioning the job he took at Macklins’ to make ends meet. She doesn’t know how they’re going to run the place without him.

Adam pulls up on his bike next to Emma outside the surf club and expresses his admiration for Steven’s genius in clearing her name. Emma doesn’t feel like celebrating going back to school with a bunch of dorks who think she’s a cheat. Adam discusses it at the diner with Carly who can understand the way Emma is feeling. Sally complains that there aren’t many empty cans for her to collect; she’ll never be able to pay Alf back. Adam offers to pay her $2 to clean his bike. Ben arrives after his first day working at the garage but Ted may have to sell it because he’s got to have surgery. Carly thinks they should buy the place.

Pippa cries as she looks at her wedding photo, which has had her new head pasted in since we last saw it. She phones her mum and tells her the insurance money has brought everything back.

By the beach, Marilyn tells Emma she’s excited about her coming back to Summer Bay High so they can work together. Emma bites Marilyn’s head off; school is a drag and a waste of time. Marilyn reports this to Grant and Alf at the store.

Pippa has arrived at the Diner and gives Ben and Carly the money she owes them. Carly excitedly tries to talk her into investing in the garage. Pippa heads to the store to ask Alf about it and he offers to come to the house later. He opens a bundle of newspapers and looks at the headline; the bloke from the car accident Jane attended has died. He apologises to Pippa for reminding of Tom yet again.

Sally washes the bike outside the beach house and asks Adam for a ride home when she’s done. Adam is concerned about the helmet being too big but Sally talks him into it and climbs into the side car. Pippa is horrified when they arrive and sends Sally to her room. She shouts at Adam for being irresponsible and tells him if she sees Sally near the bike again there will be trouble. Later, she admits to Alf that she overreacted. They discuss Carly’s idea of buying the garage and Alf doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Ben arrives home and assures Pippa that Carly will have a new idea next week.

At the surf club, Adam tells Grant about Pippa’s outburst. Grant tells him not to take it personally and fills him in about the insurance money.

Back at the house, Pippa apologises to Sally and tells her she has been sad about Tom today. Carly arrives home and continues trying to talk Pippa around instead of listening to Alf. Pippa tells her the caravan park takes a lot of money to maintain and she has got to buy two new caravans when Floss and Neville take theirs.

Alf finds Emma on the beach and tries to encourage her not to leave school. Emma tells Alf it’s not just school… she wants to leave Summer Bay, and she’s not going to change her mind.
