Pippa grows frightened of losing Sally, and Carly gets her own back at Vicki.

Extended Summary

Carly, Sally, Steven and Pippa are having breakfast at the table. Carly goes on about her news from last night and losing the job offer and how unfair it is. Steven asks to change the subject as it’s the only thing that Carly has talked about since the night before. Sally, when asked if she wants orange juice tells them how Ross and Louise make real orange juice leading Pippa to try and compete. Steven starts to stir the pot about how close Sally is getting them, leading Pippa to lose her cool and tell Steven to get to school.

At Fisher’s, Viv and Fisher are getting ready for school. Fisher walks in with a postcard from Bobby. Fisher starts talking about the surf club dance and how he’s much happier that she’s going with Steven instead of Matt. Viv, with none too great a conviction, say that she is too.

At the diner Adam and Matt are sit at the counter commenting on Carly’s less than cheerful demeanour leading to Carly letting them know about how she had missed out on the job and how unfair it all is. Vicki comes into the diner with her usual sarcastic manner leading to a sparring session with Carly. She then tries to ask one of the boys to the dance, leading to them making a quick getaway. Carly comments to Vicki how she has managed to empty the diner.

Lance at Alf’s store buying his groceries. Alf is looking through a magazine and comments that if they took the make-up off one of the guys in it, it could be Lance. Lance tells Alf that it is him, though he doesn’t anyone told and that he’s not happy with the way things are going.

Louise Keating comes around to see Pippa who is alone with Christopher. They sit at the table where they talk about how she is getting on with Sally and how they still want Sally to come live with them. Lance is back at his mobile home and he’s still in his rather stroppy mood about how everyone is taking advantage of him and sits down at the table to eat a tub of ice cream.

At the school Vicki tries to wind Viv up about how she’s now going to the dance with Matt, probably. Once Vicki has left, Steven who saw the whole thing says he can see from Viv’s face that she would rather go with Matt. Viv denies this.

Pippa and Louise are still at the house talking about how Louise can’t have kids and then they talk about how the Fletcher’s got into fostering when they thought they couldn’t have kids. She says it can be both very rewarding and very heartbreaking.

Steven talks to Adam about hypothetical situations involving relationships. Adam tells him that he would hand the girl over on a silver platter. However, Steven appears to ignore this advice and heads over to the diner where he tells Matt that Viv wants to go to with him (Matt) and arranges it with Matt that he’ll meet Viv so he can ask her out.

Sally runs over and asks Lance if he’s in a magazine. She’s super-excited and heads over to tell Pippa. She is immediately drawn to Louise however.
Fisher talks to Alf about how Roo and Frank are getting and how things are going well with their relationship. Down on the beach Steven, Viv and Matt surprisingly meet where Matt asks Viv to the dance again. She says she can’t, Steven is taking her, but Steven says she can go and Viv’s demeanour immediately becomes a lot cheerier.

At the diner, Vicki walks in. Carly tells her that Matt said he will take her to the dance.
