Extended Summary
Previous episode: Sally’s uncle (Ross Keating) arrives on the Fletcher’s doorstep.
Fisher looks at Viv’s homework (at home) and they talk. She doesn’t think she’ll go to the surf club dance.
Ross is talking to Pippa. Sally is also at the table but she is not paying attention to her uncle. She’s upset he’s never had any contact before. Tom gets back from his business trip. Sally goes to bed early so she doesn’t have to talk to Ross.
Adam asks Matt if he wants a hand organising the surf club dance. He says yes. Vicki tries to crack onto Matt but he’s not interested.
Ross and his wife want to take Sally permanently but Pippa explains that they don’t want to let her go. In the end it will be Sally’s decision where she stays. Sally sits in her room alone. Carly walks in and tells her she’ll get sick from the paint fumes if she stays in there. Sally tells Carly that she wants her uncle Ross to go away and that she’s scared. Tom promises she’ll always be with them.
Morag gives Adam a $200 bill for her services. When he tells her he can’t pay it, she offers him a painting job at her new office. She will ironically pay him $200 if he does it, so he accepts.
Viv gets the highest mark in her class so Vicki picks on her.
Adam does the painting job. When Morag goes out, Adam answers the phone. He tells the person he thinks Morag used to be a judge but can’t be sure. The person hangs up.
Steven talks Viv into going to the dance, but she chooses to go with Matt since he asked her out.
When Adam tells Morag what happened, she tells him off for being a receptionist rather than a painter.
Pippa and Tom talk to Sally about adoption. The best way might be to apply for permanent guardianship. This would also involve changing Sally’s last name to Fletcher by deed poll. Tom and Pippa know they might not be able to do this if Ross gets involved.
Ross goes to Morag for advice on how to get Sally. He wants to adopt her. She tells him he should get close to the Fletchers, especially Sally. Morag will prepare an objection to guardianship application. Adam listens in the next room. He tells Steven and Carly what he heard. Steven tells Tom and Pippa. Adam says he doesn’t care if Morag finds out he was listening in.
Tom and Pippa will probably need to get legal advice. Pippa tells Tom she won’t go out of her way to get Sally to visit Ross.
Vicki finds out Viv will be going to the dance with Matt. She approaches Viv and tells her to back off because Matt’s taking her. Otherwise she’ll make sure Viv has it tough at school.
