Brenda was VJ’s teacher at Summer Bay Primary School. Along with Leah and Elijah, she accompanied the class on a trip to the caves. However, they were forced to shelter from the rain and were told by a Ranger that the caves were closed. When they attempted to return to the bus, they found that a pair of backpackers had stolen it and were left trying to walk back to town. They took shelter in a barn where Brenda noticed a strange smell but Leah dismissed it. In fact, gas was leaking into the barn and the party were overcome by fumes until they were rescued by Miles.

Some time later, Brenda was taking the class when Elijah came to give a parent’s career talk and introduced his speech on being a missionary.
