Sally’s pushed to the edge whilst trying to save her relationship. Lucas and Geoff’s dreams are ripped out from under them. Brad makes a horrific mistake.
Extended Summary
After his blow up with Sally last night, Ric leaves town for a camping trip. Sally is dismayed – she feels like she’s driven away Brad, Cassie and now Ric! On top of everything, the plumbers arrive today to fix the septic. When Sally finally makes it to work, she discovers Brad has unexpectedly returned. However, he makes it very clear his anger towards Sally is still strong, and reconciliation is not an option.
Sally later learns some of the students have also borne the brunt of his dark mood. But when she tries to broach this subject with him, a heated argument ensues. Despite apologising to Brad, and reaffirming her love for him, he refuses to let down his barriers. He storms out, leaving Sally reeling…
Meanwhile, both Lucas and Geoff are on the verge of big things in their lives. A selector is coming tonight to watch Geoff play football, and if all goes well, he could land a spot in next year’s under 19s team.
For Lucas, he is only a few chapters away from completing his book. What’s even more surprising for both of them is the fact they actually appear to be getting along. However, things go pear-shaped when a disk containing some of Luc’s work accidentally ends up in Geoff’s footy bag. Geoff eventually finds it in his bag, but not before the disk is broken beyond repair. Lucas is mortified, and whilst blowing his stack, he throws Geoff’s ball in anger.
When Geoff goes to retrieve the ball, a car rounds the bend and runs him down. Geoff lies on the ground in agony. Lucas is horrified, as is the driver of the car – Brad. The dreams of all three appear shattered…
