Justin struggles under the weight of Brody’s secret. Raffy’s overwhelmed at the thought of going back to school. Brody works hard to resolve Ziggy’s insecurities.
Extended Summary
Brody and Justin come to blows after his confrontation of Simone, with Brody ordering him to stay out of their business. Mason and John break the pair up. Following Justin into the gym, Mason demands to know what is going on. Mason suggests he might be back on the drugs. Justin assures him it’s not, and that he has everything sorted. At the Diner, Maggie finds a deflated Ziggy getting lunch. John runs into them and explains what just happened, leaving their pair shocked.
Heading up to Salt, Justin asks Simone whether she’s handed in her notice. Brody orders him into the storeroom and the pair have it out. He explains that Ziggy believes he doesn’t love her anymore. He confirms he still does love her, but it’s complicated. Fronting Justin, Ziggy wants to know what is going on with Brody. He deflects, but Brody arrives, wanting to talk to her. Although she’s reluctant to talk to her, he suggests she come to the restaurant, and they’ll have dinner together.
When Justin returns home, he assures Mason that he and Brody have resolved their differences. Mason explains that he is updating his CV because he wants to save lives. He’s applying for a few research companies. Justin explains that while he’s taken some hits, he’s the only one who’s not self-destructing. Meanwhile, at Salt, Ziggy arrives, and Simone is forced to watch the pair enjoy a romantic dinner. As the pair enjoy dinner, Ziggy wants to know what she can do to make things better, but he promises that everything will be okay. Having left not long after Ziggy’s arrival, Simone cries, alone, in her van. Having thought about it overnight, Simone quits Salt. She can’t be Brody’s second option – it’s all or nothing.
After receiving a message from Martha, Alf joins her, Raffy and Ryder at the Diner. They’re back from stationery shopping. When Maggie arrives, Ryder asks after Coco. She explains she’s settled in well. It’s clear that Raffy is a little concerned about school without her. Ryder promises her that everything will be okay. Later, Martha takes out a tea to Alf. When Alf asks after his biscuits, she explains she gave them to Ryder as he shouldn’t be eating them. After leaving Alf & Martha to bicker, Ryder and Raffy go for a walk along the beach where she gets a text from Coco, who says she’s studying. Still upset by her leaving, she rushes off to study as well.
That night, Ryder watches on as Alf and Martha playfully argue. As she calls it a night, Alf walks Martha out to her van. As morning dawns, John calls Ryder over and suggests he distract Raffy from studying – she had her head in the books all night. When Ryder attempts to, she bites his head off. He downloads to Alf and Martha that things would be easier if Roo were around. Martha offers to help and gives him Alf’s breakfast while they discuss. Raffy rushes home and explodes, telling Mason that she can’t understand everything. As she works herself up, she collapses and has a seizure.
