Extended Summary

Robbo continues to hit the punchbag while Jasmine watches, ending up holding it with one hand while viciously pummelling it with the other, before collapsing to his knees. Jasmine asks if he’s all right. Back at the caravan park house, Roo comes in and tells Leah that she just saw Hunter and he looked like a man on a mission. Leah admits that she thinks she’s made a mistake.

Hunter and Christina meet up on the headland at Hunter’s suggestion. Christina says that they’ve crossed a line and he doesn’t need complications after working hard to get into uni. Hunter says that Leah shouldn’t have said anything and convinces her to join him for a coffee so he can put his side. Back at the house, Leah has filled Roo in. Roo says that relationships between lecturers and students aren’t encouraged but they happen. She suggests that Leah is trying to make up for missing VJ. She also points out that Leah and VJ got on better when she trusted him with Billie, so she should trust Hunter.

Marilyn offers John pancakes for breakfast but he says he has to get to the surf club. When Marilyn suggests they meet for lunch, he says he has an important meeting. Marilyn points out that he’s had important meetings for the last two days but John simply says he’s been busy. Down on the beach, Jasmine waits for Robbo as he comes back from a swim. He says he didn’t mean to get that worked up. Jasmine says he can talk to her any time if he needs someone. She goes to walk away but Robbo says what about now.

At the Diner, Marilyn is filling Alf in on the silent treatment she’s getting from John and also fills Roo in when she turns up. Alf confirms that there’s no surf club meeting. Marilyn says she couldn’t ignore a mother who wanted to see her son. Outside, Hunter and Christina are having their coffee. Hunter says he likes her and doesn’t want it to end before it’s started. Christina says she’ll get him a good mentor for the placement but Hunter says he’s excited about them as well and she isn’t taking advantage of him. He takes her hands but she pulls away, saying she can’t and she’ll see him at uni.

Robbo and Jasmine are walking on the beach. Robbo says he’s not one for sharing and Jasmine wryly comments on a guy not wanting to talk about his feelings, which gets a smile. He says he’s been operating on fight or flight for a long time. Jasmine mentions her ex and the circumstances that brought her to the Bay: The accident changed things for both of them. Robbo agrees that the life he’d planned with Kat was gone in an instant. Jasmine says coming to Summer Bay brought her friends that look out for her and they want to help Robbo too. She heads to the Diner on her own in time to have Irene tell her, Roo and Marilyn that Olivia’s leaving and they have to throw a farewell party quickly; Mason is setting up Salt but they need something special. Jasmine asks what Irene’s like at public speaking. Irene asks the others how they feel about dressing up.

Mason notices Hunter looking miserable in Salt and thinks he’s heard about Olivia. Hunter doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or why he’s putting up balloons, explaining that things didn’t work out with Christina, and after being with Olivia a long time he thought it was a new chapter. Olivia comes in and tells Hunter she’s leaving and about the job. A group of women led by Irene, Leah and Jasmine come in; they are all dressed in Olivia’s designs. Downstairs, a similarly-dressed-up Marilyn finds John in the office instead of a meeting. She tries to get him to come up to the party but he says he’s busy. After she’s gone, Alf approaches and makes similar comments, telling John Marilyn was trying to keep the family together.

Irene makes a speech in Salt, while Leah, Jasmine and Marilyn do catwalk turns in Olivia’s outfits. She talks about how Olivia always used to be making clothes at home and about the various trials of setting up Liv Design. She says she’s proud of her and Chloe would be too. Olivia hugs her, before noting there were even more dramas than Irene said. Irene points out she got through them. Later, John and Marilyn meet up on the wharf. John says he won’t be having any more “meetings” but was scared of losing his family and still is. He says Marilyn knew he didn’t want her to go but went anyway and didn’t even tell him how long she’d be: They didn’t feel like a team. However, he also wants to move forward. They hug.

Olivia finds Hunter alone on the balcony. He assures her she’s not the reason he’s upset. Olivia encourages him to believe in himself and follow his dream. She says she’s got a second chance and wouldn’t be there without him, and he should go after what he wants. Jasmine interrupts them but Hunter says it’s okay. He hugs Olivia and kisses her on the forehead, saying goodbye. Olivia asks how Jasmine’s “project” is going. Downstairs, Robbo volunteers to help Alf move some boxes. Alf offers to get Robbo some work at the bait shop. Roo comes over and says she’s had an emergency call from Duncan: Caroline’s in hospital so she’s going to go and help him look after Bryce.

Leah finds Hunter at home and notes he left the party early. She suggests they get something to eat and talk but Hunter says he’s going out. Leah backs off asking where he’s going, saying she was worried about him but he’s an adult and makes his own choices. Back at Salt, Irene tells Olivia they need to get to the airport. She exchanges goodbye hugs with Jasmine, Mason, Marilyn and John, quietly telling Jasmine to look after Irene. With one last lingering look at the group, she follows Irene out.

Hunter is waiting at a motel room when Christina turns up. Christina isn’t sure if she should be there but they kiss and close the door behind them.
