Extended Summary

Brody is showing Ebony how to use the till at Salt and she tries out his suggestion of asking customers if they want anything else when it’s quiet on a rather uncommunicative Colby. Ziggy rushes in and tells Brody about Maggie being in hospital. Brody says he’ll take her there after checking Ebony is okay on her own. Ebony offers to buy Colby another drink. At the hospital, Jasmine is telling Ben and Coco that they’ll have to wear masks and gowns when they see Maggie again. Tori is in with her at the moment. Brody and Ziggy turn up and get filled in. Brody tries to suggest pneumonia isn’t hard to recover from. Ben reminds him he couldn’t go near Maggie with a cold.

Ryder is picking at his food and tells Roo that he doesn’t blame Coco for dumping him. He decides to go to his room. Alf comes home unexpectedly and Roo ends up giving him Ryder’s food before starting to fill him in. Back at the hospital, Ben, Ziggy and Coco have all got masked and gowned up to go in and see Maggie. Jasmine tells them she’s getting off but the night staff will look after them. Ben says he shouldn’t have let Maggie go into work, since she was likely to catch something off the students, but Maggie insists it was her choice. Ziggy steps out of the room and tells Brody he should go back to work.

Back at Salt, Ebony tries to draw conversation out of Colby before remarking her brother used to work in a bar and she isn’t as good at the sympathetic bartender act as him. Colby relaxes a bit and ends up telling her about Bella and that it was her birthday. Ebony proposes a toast. He also tells her he and Jasmine are just casual. Jasmine comes in and is surprised to see Colby there when he said he was having a quiet night. Colby says he just came in for one drink but it snowballed. He asks her about the Astonis and she says it’s a waiting game for them. Jasmine collects a takeaway pizza and Colby ends up agreeing to share it with her. He thanks Ebony as he leaves and she smiles to herself. Soon after, the pair have finished the pizza at Colby’s flat and Colby is giving Jasmine a massage. However, Jasmine is still disconcerted by Colby being with Ebony and ends up calling it a night, surprising Colby who expected her to stay over.

Next morning, Jasmine has finished a swim on the beach and Colby approaches with a board. He jokes that he’ll get her out on one some day and Jasmine replies that she needs to work on her tan. Colby kisses her but then comments on having privacy. He goes out into the water and Ebony approaches Jasmine, asking how Colby is and explaining he told her about Bella. She checks Jasmine knows, saying Colby said they weren’t serious, then pretends to realise she’s being indiscreet and leaves. When Colby comes back, Jasmine asks him about Ebony. Colby doesn’t think it’s a big deal and wonders if she’s jealous. Jasmine says that even though they have no claim on each other she thought they weren’t looking at other people. She then hastily backs off and suggests they meet at Salt that evening.

At the Diner, Irene asks Ziggy and Coco how things are and they admit they didn’t sleep much. Roo and Ryder come in and Roo asks them about Maggie. Ryder takes Coco aside and tells her she can talk to whoever she wants. Coco isn’t interested in placating him however. Later, as they’re gowning up at hospital, Ziggy accuses Coco of being hard on Ryder. Coco retorts that Ziggy hasn’t got Brody there because no-one can help. Ben interrupts the argument and takes them in to see Maggie, who has had her antibiotics changed. Maggie suggests Ben go into work and, after a bit of prompting from Ziggy, he admits he quit the job. Maggie says she’d have liked to have seen that. However, she then starts coughing uncontrollably. Ben calls for help and he and the girls exit the room as Tori and the nurses rush to help.

Ebony and Colby meet up at the surf club. Ebony apologises if she’s complicated things between him and Jasmine, saying that no strings usually results in someone being hurt. Colby mentions that they’re going to the gig at Salt later. Ebony says she might see them there, before smirking when Colby’s gone. Later, Colby and Jasmine meet up outside the surf club; Jasmine has got dressed up but tries to play it down. Olivia is joining them later. Ebony appears, remarking she thought she’d go to the gig even though she doesn’t know anyone. Although she clearly doesn’t really want to, Jasmine ends up inviting Ebony to sit with them.

Brody joins the Astonis at the hospital. Tori emerges and says they haven’t had to intubate Maggie. However, they’re still waiting on test results. Coco panics that kids at camp told her this is how their parents deteriorated. The Astonis go in and Brody asks Tori if Maggie’s likely to get better. Tori can only say she hopes so. Later, Roo pays a brief visit and tells Ben the board have sorted out a temporary principal. Ben thanks Brody for being there. Later still, Ben, Ziggy, Coco and Brody are in the corridor and Ziggy recalls a time Maggie broke her arm and ended up on painkillers in hospital, complaining about the hotel. The reminder amuses everyone but then Tori appears and tells them that not only has the pneumonia not improved but tests show the cancer is getting worse: The stem cell transplant, with Ziggy only being half a match, must have failed. She admits that if there’s no improvement in the next 48 hours Maggie will have to be placed on life support.
