Extended Summary

Marilyn is approaching the wharf when she sees the fight at the end of it; Robbo is overpowering one of the thugs but another is taking a swing at Hunter. She runs into the Diner and tells everyone. Leah, John and Mason rush out, leaving her to phone the police. Hunter is on the ground and John has to restrain Leah from going to him as Robbo knocks the thug responsible into the water. Robbo holds Gus at bay with a fishing rod as Mason runs to Hunter’s side. Gus surrenders and John gives Robbo some rope to tie him up. Mason says they need an ambulance. Meanwhile, at the farm house, Maggie is trying to tie the head scarf around her head and tells Ben she needs to do it herself. He wonders if she’s okay with going to school tomorrow. She wonders if she looks like a pirate and says it’s okay as long as he likes the way she looks, but continues to make a mess of fixing the scarf.

Gus is taken away by the police as Hunter is taken to the ambulance on a stretcher. Olivia joins Leah as Mason explains he has a head injury. Hunter starts fitting and the ambulance officer gives him medication. Mason goes in the ambulance, leaving Leah and Olivia to follow on. John tells Robbo the police need a statement from him but Robbo just walks away. At the hospital, Mason hands Hunter over to Doctor Genner. He admits to Leah and Olivia that there’s a danger of a bleed on the brain. Irene arrives and Leah leaves Olivia with her while she sorts the paperwork. As Hunter is taken for a scan, Olivia says she can’t lose him.

Marilyn is on the phone at the Diner checking on Hunter and shares the news with Roo, who decides she needs to go to the hospital herself. They wonder why Hunter took on the thugs and conclude he takes working for Alf seriously. John comes back, having been with the police, and says the villains are unlikely to be seen again since they all have long records. He comments on Robbo taking off and Marilyn points out John hasn’t been very welcoming to him. John says he needs to tell him the police want to see him so he’ll apologise at the same time. Robbo is doing press-ups on the beach, but when John calls out to him he ignores him and sets off on a run.

Leah, Irene, Roo and Olivia are all crowded around Hunter’s bed in the hospital, with Mason waiting in the doorway. Genner tells them there’s no sign of a bleed. Hunter is conscious now and asks about Robbo, being told that the men were already known to the police. Olivia wants to take Hunter home and look after him but Genner says he needs to be kept in for observation. Leah says they should leave Hunter alone but Olivia fails to take the hint so Irene stays with her. Olivia says that Hunter needs her. Later, Olivia appears with toothbrush, toothpaste, a teddy and money for the chip machine. Irene and Mason discuss her behaviour. Olivia talks about staying the night there but Irene says Mason’s been told to clear her out and Mason goes along with it. Olivia says she’ll be back first thing but Irene says she has a shift first. After they’ve finally gone, Mason tells Hunter she just cares.

Robbo comes home to find Lance waiting in the flat; he says Colby let him in. He knows about Robbo’s heroics and comments on the fact he didn’t stick around to be congratulated. Later, Robbo gets him a beer. Lance fanboys a bit about Robbo’s handling of things and points out he asked him for help and then didn’t take it. Robbo wants to overcome his instincts to get involved, saying he just wanted to stop someone getting hurt. Lance says he used to love it and can make a difference.

Ben asks Maggie about meeting Baz in the morning and is slightly worried when she says she’s got Roo to do it. Later, as they’re going to bed, Maggie examines her reflection with mixed feelings. She says she was right to take control but now when everyone looks at her they’ll see that she’s sick. Ben assures her that the cancer isn’t her and they cuddle.

Next morning, Maggie fits the head scarf perfectly by herself in the bathroom. She goes into the living area where Ben has just finished a phone call. He tells her to get dressed because they’re going out. They head to the balcony at Salt where a breakfast buffet has been set up. Ben assures her he’s booked the whole thing out, having had a word with the owner, so they won’t be disturbed. Maggie still seems nervous but he says they’ll start with this and then move on to meeting people.

At the Diner, John is chatting to Marilyn as Lance comes in and orders an egg bacon roll from Irene. Robbo enters but he and Lance don’t react to each other. John approaches Robbo and apologises for not welcoming him back to the Bay, saying he’s entitled to keep his secret and is obviously a good man. Lance watches with interest. At the hospital, Mason goes to see Hunter who complains he keeps getting texts from Olivia. He says he just needs to rest but he can’t because he’s scared Olivia will turn up with balloons. Mason suggests Hunter needs to tell her how he feels. Hunter suggests Mason do it for him.

Ben and Maggie arrive home. Maggie is still uneasy and says she knows Ben loves her and will stand by her, but she’s not sure if he’s still attracted to her. Ben says he’ll still be attracted to her when she’s eighty. Maggie says by then her hair will have grown back and he’ll probably be bald. Ben carries her into the bedroom. At the Diner, Olivia quizzes Mason about Hunter and decides to leave straightaway and take a basket to him. Mason and Irene point out he’ll be out of hospital soon. Mason tells Olivia Hunter doesn’t want visitors. Olivia asks if it’s any visitors or just her.

Lance joins Robbo in his flat. He says the feds have a job for him. Robbo says Lance doesn’t know him. Lance says he was there when he married Lauren, the first person he phoned both times he found out he was going to be a father and when he found their bodies. Robbo admits he remembers. Lance says he helped him become Beckett Reid and “Robbo” is no more real than that. He shows him a file on the men he encountered on the wharf: Part of an operation smuggling contraband in from an international ship. He says they have more information if Robbo’s ready. Robbo says he is.
