6 Coronation Street Spoilers for Next Week – 29th June to 3rd July

Next week on Coronation Street, the Driscolls finally face Megan in court, Sarah faces a new threat from Jodie, and Leanne’s new romance backfires.

1) Megan sends her mum into battle

Megan (Beth Nixon) resorts to a new tactic next week, in the final days before her trial for the grooming of Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), by bringing her mum Janine (Melissa Jacques) into the escalating situation.

ITV

Recent episodes have seen Will, who had been secretly talking with Megan via his games console, meeting her in a car park and making it clear that he can’t carry on with their conversations.

Megan insisted that she really loved him and begged him not to let her go to prison, but Will questioned whether that could be true when she’d previously planned to run away without him. He then walked away.

ITV

Despite this setback, Megan isn’t ready to give up.

Next week, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), Ben (Aaron McCusker) and Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) are stunned when Janine arrives at the Rovers and introduces herself as Megan’s mum.

Janine claims that she’s sorry for everything her daughter has done and says she wants to help, but the Driscolls are in no mood to hear her out and angrily send her packing.

ITV

It soon becomes clear that Janine hasn’t come to Weatherfield of her own accord, as she returns to Megan’s car and admits that she couldn’t find Will.

Megan then turns on the waterworks for her mum, claiming that Will exploited her at a vulnerable time and that she now risks being sent to prison because of him.

Janine falls for Megan’s sob story and later manages to seek out Will, leaving him with yet another obstacle to face just as he’s preparing for court.

2) Will faces Megan in court

The pressure on Will continues to build as the day of Megan’s trial arrives.

At the Rovers, Ben, Eva and Maggie fuss over Will as they try to support him ahead of court, but he’s clearly struggling with the weight of what’s expected from him.

ITV

ITV

Will’s opted not to give evidence in person, so his pre-recorded statement is played in court instead as the trial begins. His family are left emotional as they listen to his account, but the ordeal isn’t over.

ITV

When his barrister starts questioning him, Will is forced to face Megan in the courtroom. As Megan fixes him with a cold stare, will he begin to falter?

ITV

The following day, Ben takes to the stand himself, where he faces a tough cross-examination from Adam (Sam Robertson). From the dock, Megan tries to present herself as the victim and casts doubt on Ben’s parenting.

ITV

ITV

He is really worried, especially after Megan’s testimony about what she claimed Will said about Ben,” Aaron McCusker tells us. “Ben loses his temper in court, which I understand but then he feels like he has let his son down and might have made things a whole lot worse.

ITV

Ben does let emotions get the better of him. What Megan says about Will feeling under pressure from Ben really sticks in his head and he is not in a good place when it is his turn to give evidence.

ITV

With the day having gone badly, Will calls at No.4 and breaks down to Tim (Joe Duttine), admitting that he’s messed everything up and doesn’t know what to do.

This proves to be a turning point, as Will later tells his family that he wants another chance to speak in court. If the judge allows it, he intends to return to the witness box and tell the full truth about what happened.

ITV

As Will prepares to give evidence again, he comes face-to-face with Megan once more. He’s determined to be honest this time, but whether he can find the strength to go through with it remains to be seen.

ITV

The Driscolls later return home and update Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike), revealing that Megan’s fate is now in the jury’s hands.

This is a huge moment for them all but they don’t want Will to feel under any more pressure so they are trying to be very pragmatic about it and accept that it might not go the way they want it to,” Aaron adds.

They feel they have done enough and she has been exposed for the sort of woman she really is but it is all in the hands of the jury. We all know Megan is a master manipulator, let’s not forget she had the whole family fooled.

3) Sam’s fears resurface

Away from court, Megan’s trial also has a major impact on Sam (Jude Riordan), who remains in the mental health unit following his recent crisis.

ITV

Nick (Ben Price) and Toyah (Georgia Taylor) are relieved to hear that Sam’s recovery is progressing well enough for him to potentially be discharged by the end of the week.

Sam then explains that he wants to attend court, believing that facing the situation head-on could help him move on from everything Megan put him through.

Nick, however, is worried about how much his son can cope with after everything that’s happened.

ITV

Later in the week, Sam remains fixated on the case and fears that if Megan is found not guilty, she could come after him for revenge.

As the court case takes a difficult turn, Nick decides to shield Sam from the truth. Trying to protect his son, he instead claims that everything went to plan.

Hope (Isabella Flanagan) later visits Sam at the unit, but when he asks her about the trial, she struggles to cover for Nick and Toyah.

ITV

Sam quickly realises that he’s not being told the full story, and when Hope admits what really happened, he’s furious to learn that Nick and Toyah have been lying to him.

4) Sarah faces a new threat from Jodie

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) faces fresh questions over her attack at No.8, as her suspicions about Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) continue to grow.

Sarah is already under huge pressure after finally confessing to Todd (Gareth Pierce) that she killed Theo (James Cartwright), explaining how she hit him with a metal pole during a confrontation on the scaffolding, sending him plummeting to his death.

ITV

Todd was horrified not only by what Sarah had done, but by the fact her silence had allowed Summer (Harriet Bibby) to go to prison and robbed him of any chance of seeing Theo face justice. Although Todd ultimately chose not to report her, he made it clear that he doesn’t want Sarah in his life anymore.

ITV

Sarah also has another worry hanging over her from that night, as the attack at No.8 happened directly after Theo’s death.

Revisiting the details of her movements is the last thing she wants, but Jodie recently gave her reason to be suspicious by making a careless comment about David the dog barking during the incident.

ITV

Sarah is left wondering how Jodie could possibly know that detail, particularly as she’d also spotted Jodie’s open trinket box shortly before she was knocked unconscious.

ITV

But Jodie now has leverage too. Sarah’s claiming that she was knocked unconscious at No.8 at 9:10pm, giving herself an alibi for when Theo died approximately 50 minutes later.

As the person responsible for attacking Sarah, Jodie secretly knows the timing doesn’t add up—and that Sarah’s lying about her movements that night. But does she suspect the reason why?

ITV

ITV

Next week, Sarah spots Jodie outside and decides it’s time to press her for answers.

Before she can get very far, Lisa (Vicky Myers) approaches and asks Sarah to go through her account of the attack again. Jodie invites them inside, where Sarah repeats that the attack happened at 9:10pm and insists that David the dog was barking loudly at the time.

ITV

ITV

Jodie listens with keen interest.

ITV

Jodie later unsettles Sarah further by pointing out that her timings don’t stack up. Knowing that Sarah’s hiding something, Jodie seizes on the rumours surrounding her supposed affair with Gary (Mikey North) and suggests that perhaps he was part of the reason she lied.

Sarah then turns the tables by questioning Jodie about the trinket box, leaving Jodie rattled. Before Jodie can respond properly, David (Jack P Shepherd) arrives and angrily reveals that the gate has been left open—and David the dog has gone missing.

ITV

When Kit (Jacob Roberts) and Sarah later call at the café, Jodie approaches them with a smile, leaving Sarah struggling to hide her discomfort.

The tension doesn’t go unnoticed. David calls at the factory and quizzes Sarah over the strange atmosphere between her and Jodie, realising that something is clearly troubling her.

As David’s concerns grow, he shares his worries with Kit in the Rovers, explaining that Sarah has been acting weirdly around Jodie. Kit promises to keep an eye on the situation, but with both women hiding dangerous secrets, it remains to be seen who has the upper hand.

5) Summer’s behaviour causes concern

Meanwhile, Summer’s attempts to enjoy her freedom start to raise alarm bells, as Asha (Tanisha Gorey), Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Amy (Elle Mulvaney) grow concerned by her behaviour.

ITV

After everything she’s been through with Theo’s death, and her three weeks in prison before being proven innocent, Summer decided against going to uni in the US. Todd has already been worried by her heavy drinking since her release, and it soon becomes clear that alarm bells are ringing for her friends too.

ITV

After Summer raised eyebrows by going clubbing with a girl she’d only just met, Asha, Nina and Amy grow even more wary next week when they arrive at the bistro and find her already tipsy with a group of people from her night out.

Later in the week, Asha, Nina and Amy summon Summer back to the bistro, with Mary (Patti Clare) also joining them, and gently explain that they’re worried about her—hoping she’ll realise that she’s overdoing it and that her behaviour’s starting to concern the people closest to her.

But the conversation is soon derailed when Sienna (Charlotte Tyree), Asha’s paramedic colleague, arrives at the bistro.

ITV

When it becomes clear that Sienna has been stood up by her date, Nina and Amy urge Asha to seize the moment and make a move.

6) Leanne gets swept away by Idris

Also next week, Leanne (Jane Danson) and Idris (Junaid Khan) grow closer, as he pulls out all the stops to impress her.

The pair have already been enjoying each other’s company, despite Alya (Sair Khan) previously warning Leanne to be careful where her cousin is concerned.

ITV

Next week, Leanne is thrilled when Idris invites her out for lunch, before treating her to a pampering session at the Chariot Square.

Their date goes so well that they decide to stay overnight at the hotel.

ITV

The following morning, Leanne and Idris enjoy a late breakfast in bed, and Leanne is made up when he goes ahead and books the room for a second night.

However, Idris’s romantic gesture comes at a cost elsewhere. Sam later tells Toyah that Leanne failed to turn up for her visit, leaving Toyah furious.

ITV

When Toyah tries to call Leanne, Idris spots the phone ringing whilst Leanne is in the bathroom and quietly switches it to silent.

But Idris can’t keep the outside world away for long, as Toyah soon turns up at the hotel and starts hammering on the door.

Has Leanne been so swept up in her new romance that she’s taken her eye off the ball with Sam?
