Home and Away Spoilers – Is Mackenzie and Levi’s baby in trouble?

This week on Home and Away in Australia, Mackenzie and Levi might be set for heartbreak after their latest baby scan, while there’s a criminal on the loose in the bay!

Mackenzie (Emily Weir) has had plenty of misfortune since she arrived in Summer Bay back in 2019, and recent promos for upcoming episodes suggests that there could be more on the way.

She and Levi (Tristan Gorey) are currently expecting a baby, but Mac’s journey towards parenthood has been far from easy.

In March 2021, her flourishing relationship with Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) fell apart when his ex-girlfriend Mia Anderson (Anna Samson) turned up with her daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett).

Ari had been a father figure to Chloe during her childhood, but when he was locked up for a decade, Mia had moved her and her daughter away in search of a fresh start.

When Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) bumped into Chloe on a trip to New Zealand, it brought the pair back into Ari’s life, and Ari was soon forced to admit that he still loved Mia.

Their reunion brought an end to Ari and Mackenzie’s relationship just as Mac learnt that she was pregnant with Ari’s baby!

She kept the pregnancy a secret from her former flame, and the truth only came out when she lost the baby due to an eptopic pregnancy.

Years later, now with Levi, the cardiothoracic surgeon who’d saved her life when she was diagnosed with Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), Mackenzie decided to try again for a baby.

She and Levi initially struggled to conceive despite their best efforts.

While Levi reassured Mac that it was early days, a chat with her mum Tanya saw Mackenzie learn that she’d been conceived via IVF after Tanya had suffered difficulty conceiving too.

After embarking on a difficult IVF journey, Mackenzie and Levi were delighted in September last year to learn that Mac was pregnant.

However, alone in the farmhouse less than two weeks later, Mac suffered shooting abdominal pains and realised that she was losing the baby.

The traumatic event left Mac devastated, and she pushed Levi away as she struggled to cope with her grief.

The ordeal nearly ended the pair’s relationship, with Mac departing Summer Bay for Queensland shortly after, but they eventually found their way back to each other.

The pair eventually embarked on another round of IVF, and in January of this year, Mac learned that she was pregnant again. This time, they kept the news from their loved ones until after their 12 week scan confirmed that everything was going well.

Over the past few weeks, news of Mac’s pregnancy has been spreading, and Mac felt the baby kick for the first time.

Meanwhile, Levi has been trying to try to keep Mac’s stress levels low, as she focussed her efforts on trying to clear Tane’s (Ethan Browne) name.

Meanwhile, the pair have been locked in discussions over the sex of their baby, with Levi sure that they’re having a girl, but Mackenzie certain that they’re having a boy.

Last week, Abigail (Hailey Pinto) tried to talk a reluctant Mac into having a baby shower – and, with Mac and Levi agreeing that they’d find out the sex of the baby at their next scan, she suggested they combine the shower with a gender reveal party.

Mac was having none of it, but when Abby then presented her with a scrapbook of ideas for the party, she knew she was going to have a hard time saying no.

Then, a conversation with Harper (Jessica Redmayne) made her realise that you only get one chance for that kind of milestone event, and she agreed to the party – gender reveal and all.

However, with Eden’s (Stephanie Panozzo) involvement, Mac wants to ensure that they organise her something much more low-key.

Eden’s first idea, an official baby shower mocktail, is much more up her street.

Having managed to escape the party planning, Mackenzie heads to Northern Districts Hospital for her scan, where she and Levi will find out the sex of their baby.

When Levi finds himself caught up with a work emergency, she’s forced to head to the hospital with Tane (Ethan Browne) instead, but thankfully Levi turns up just in time.

He apologises for his tardiness, but Mackenzie is full of joy as she tells him “it doesn’t matter, you’re here now.”

As sonographer Magda (Deepka Ratra) puts the jelly on Mac’s stomach and the image of Mac and Levi’s unborn baby appears on screen, Mac eagerly asks if they can hear the heartbeat.

“Just one second,” Magda replies as she continues to look at the screen.

Mac asks if everything’s okay, and as the sonographer asks for a moment and leaves the room, Levi’s face drops, perhaps cognisant of what’s coming.

Shortly after, Magda returns along with Dr Sinclair, who warmly greets the pair and asks them how they’re doing.

“Dr Sinclair! Is there a problem?” Mackenzie asks nervously.

While the show hasn’t yet confirmed the fate of Mackenzie and Levi’s unborn child, a recent promo for upcoming episodes showed the pair in tears.

The promo focussed on the question of which Summer Bay favourite will be shot in upcoming episodes, but it seems the scenes in question may in fact be related to the couple’s pregnancy woes.

We see Levi in tears, seemingly at the hospital, in the same shirt as he’s wearing during the baby scan.

Meanwhile, the promo showed Mackenzie in tears on the beach.

Spoilers for this week’s episodes tell us that on Tuesday, “Mackenzie blames herself,” while “Tane breaks some devastating news.”

The promo also saw Mali putting his head in his hands whilst on the phone – has he just heard the news?

In Wednesday’s episode, “Mackenzie needs space,” while next Monday 1st June, she “struggles to process her trauma.”

Will Mackenzie and Levi be able to get through this latest trauma?

Elsewhere in Summer Bay this week, it seems there’s a criminal on the loose!

TV Week reports that this week, a string of car break-ins sweeps the bay, as Sergeant David Langham (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) orders his constables to get on the case.

New arrival Probationary Constable Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) is keen to impress his boss, and starts searching online for the stolen items to see if the crims are trying to flog them for a profit.

While Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) continues to be frustrated by Richie’s over-enthusiastic nature, David continues to warm to the new recruit.

“David’s impression of Richie is one of patience,” Jeremy explains to TV Week. “He can see that he is eager, which brings a new energy to the station, not such a bad thing in his opinion. He mentors him.”

However, David becomes concerned when he finds out that Richie is in the market for a gun, when he spots him looking up storage safes.

Richie has already expressed an unusual interest in firearms when he went to hang up his shooting range target in the station.

With a recent promo revealing that one Summer Bay favourite gets shot, with Richie seen running after someone before giving chase in his car, will the shock new storyline involve Yabbie Creek’s newest recruit?

Meanwhile, Lacey (Sophea Pennington) arrives for her shift at Summer Bay Fit in the early hours, to find the doors open.

With noises coming from inside the gym, it seems that whoever’s broken in has been caught in the act.

She calls David, who rushes over to the surf club looking to catch the intruder. Are they connected to the recent break-ins, or is there more to the story?
