2015 AWGIE Nominations

The nominations for the 48th annual AWGIE Awards have been announced, with Home and Away receiving two out of the four nominations for the Television Serial category.

The AWGIEs are the Australian Writers Guild’s much respected accolades for excellence in screen, television, stage and radio writing. The awards are based solely on the writer’s original intentions in the script, as opposed to the final product seen on screen.

The two episodes of Home and Away put forward for the award are as follows:

Episode 6057 by Louise Bowes

6057 - Casey's Funeral

Summer Bay gathers for the funeral of Casey Braxton.

Episode 6202 by Romina Accurso

6202 - Alf opens up about his PTSD

Alf makes a breakthrough with his PTSD by finally opening up in a session with counsellor Maria. Meanwhile an imprisoned Brax meets his son for the first time.

Both episodes are up against Episodes 6943 & 6962 of Neighbours, written by Emma J. Steele and Nick King respectively.

Home and Away has a strong history of AWGIE success, and won the award for 9 years in a row from 2005-2013, a run which was broken last year when Stephen Vagg took the award for Episode 6857 of Neighbours.

This year’s ceremony will take place in Sydney on Friday 11th September 2015.
