H&A Takes Early UK Break

Channel 5 have confirmed that Home and Away will be taking a break in the UK next month.

The final episode will air on Friday 2nd May, and the show will be off-air for 3 weeks before returning on Monday 26th May. The return episode will see the beginning of the Braxtons trip to London which aired in Australia two weeks ago.

It has also been confirmed that this break will take place instead of the traditional month long break that Channel 5 usually gives the show in August, with the show continuing to air over the summer months.

Greg Barnett, Channel 5’ss Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Daytime and Soaps, told Digital Spy:

“We felt the episodes in which the River Boys come to London would make the perfect Home and Away return opportunity, and whilst the boys are chasing the loves of their lives around Britain’ss capital, there’ss drama back in the Bay for viewers to get their teeth into.

Hapless hunk Chris puts poisonous mushrooms in the Diner’ss special risotto. One by one, people start dropping like flies but nobody can work out why. With those affected unaware it’ss something they’sve eaten, the lives of two key characters hang in the balance.

Additionally life isn’st proving kind for Maddy or Zac, one of whom presses the self-destruct button…”

With the UK airings currently 5 weeks behind Australia, the upcoming break will extend that gap to 8 weeks. As the episodes do not start to catch up with Australia until their own extended break at Christmas, it means that UK viewers will be further behind for a considerably longer time than in previous years.
