Slim pickings on the Logies front this year. No Most Popular Actress nods despite big stories for Georgie Parker. Good news is Ray Meagher is up for Most Popular Actor - first nod since 2010?

Sophie Dillman up for Most Popular New Talent and the show for Most Popular Drama.

No Gold Logie nods either

Logies nominations 2018: Channel 10 stars snubbed in Gold category

THE nominations for this year’s Logie Awards are out — and it’s not great news for Ten’s star presenters.

TWO of Channel 10’s most high-profile figures have failed to make the cut in this year’s Logies nominations in a surprising snub which is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Star recruit Lisa Wilkinson and Waleed Aly — who won the Most Popular Presenter award last year — have both been left out of the running for the 2018 awards which will be held on the Gold Coast on July 1.

This year’s Gold Logie nominees are: The Living Room’s Amanda Keller, actors Jessica Marais and Rodger Corser, A Current Affair host Tracey Grimshaw, Family Feud’s Grant Denyer and Love It Or List It presenter Andrew Winter.

Winter’s inclusion marks the first time a Foxtel presenter has been nominated in that category.

The Project and its hosts have long been Logies favourites.

Carrie Bickmore won the Gold Logie in 2015, her co-host Waleed Aly followed in her footsteps the following year, and Aly and Peter Helliar were both nominated for it last year — although actor Samuel Johnson took out the prize.

While the show has been nominated for Most Popular Entertainment Program and Bickmore for Most Popular Presenter, the fact that none of its stars has made the cut for Gold Logie will no doubt come as an unpleasant surprise for Ten bosses.

Late last year, Wilkinson sensationally jumped ship from Nine’s Today show after a decade alongside Karl Stefanovic and was quickly snapped up by Ten’s The Projectin what was considered to be a major coup for the network.

Certainly, Ten had considered her one of its best chances at winning a Logie this time around. When initial voting opened up, questions were raised about why popular Studio 10 host Sarah Harris — or any of her co-hosts — weren’t even in the running to be nominated in the Most Popular Presenter category.

As TV Week explained to news.com.au, each of the TV networks decide who will be eligible for nominations each year: “Each network works to a set number of entries per category and every year we have programs or talent that do not make the final shortlist.”

In the Most Popular Presenter category each TV network was allowed to nominate 15 people this year that they felt were “most deserving” of that award.

Channel 10 chose to put forward The Project co-hosts Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore and Lisa Wilkinson. They also put forward Peter Helliar, who told news.com.au in March that he thought Lisa Wilkinson was a certainty to win the Gold Logie this year.

“I think it’s got Wilkinson written all over it to be honest,” Helliar said.

“I hope Lisa wins it. I think she deserves it and I was genuinely surprised she wasn’t nominated last year [2017].”

Other notable nominees include former Bachelor Matty J, aka Matthew Johnson, who’s up for Most Popular New Talent for his hosting stint on The Living Room, and Sam Frost, who’s nominated in the same category for her role on Home And Away.

Live voting for the “Most Popular” categories will reopen on June 25 and will close an hour before the Logie Awards broadcast gets underway on July 1.

I would love for Ray to win as it would be a great nod his firs Silver after thirty years

I do like Ray the character of Alf has always made me laugh But his not really done that much this year and that's surprising given the promos claiming its a big year for Alf I blame Robbo

I voted for Ray. Would love to see the very hard working Amanda Keller win gold i remember being a kid watching her on Beyond 2000.

I don't see how Jake Ryan's storyline with Robbo is to blame for a lack of plot lines for Alf. ITs only May. Theirs still the 30th Anniversery episode to come. Which well prob feature Alf heavily.

Good too see Sophie Dillman get a nom. I think shes got alot of potential. With better storylines.

There’s whispers of Cornelia being posthumously awarded a Logie at this year’s ceremony which would be a lovely gesture

Ray Meagher has won the flamin Logie! Well deserved and a great anniversary present to bring back to the bay!

I'm happy for Ray.It was well deserved and a lovely tribute to Cornelia.

I'm also confused about Grant. Why'd his show get cancelled if he's so popular.Amanda was robbed.
