I don't think Celeste's/Melody's exit was shocking or bad at all... it was fitting to her character and how she was in her first months of her stint. But a lot in between with her good introduction and exit was extremely badly written and exaggerated. Melody's diagnosis was all over the place and her reaction to certain incidents was over the top and not consistent or believable, and her mother went from a realistic far too strict mother to a completely unrealistic cartoonish psycho.

But that is the writers fault, not Celeste's, and she did a good job with the material she had. In a way it is a shame that they aren't casting more girls (or boys) like her. She was very natural.

I wish her a lot of success. The business needs more natural people like her in general. :)

No, the exit was terrible. After building up the fact she had an abusive home life that had messed her up, they should never have...sent her back to that abusive home life with a vague promise that things would be different this time. But Celeste played it well, as she played everything well, and she was fantastic in the episode at the weekend. It's nice that not everyone who comes out of Home and Away heads straight for Hollywood expecting to be a big success, and some are happy just to be acting even if it's not particularly high profile.Found a couple of online reviews with photos of her.(Well...the same photo of her.)

Melody's exit was absolutely dreadful. It was insulting to the viewers and to the actors who had created Melody and Christine.

Christine's descent into semi-madness was slow and made perfect sense. She didn't seem cartoonish at all, she seemed extremely layered and sympathetic (while remaining utterly dislikeable). It was the half-assed explanation the writers came up with when they wrote Melody out, that Christine's own mother had been quite nasty to her as a child, that made zero sense. "Oh that explains everything, Even all the terrible stuff you did that can be in no way attributed to that. I better come home and live with you then". Awful.

I had the pleasure of meeting Celeste (Melody) at National Theatre in London 2 years ago, she spoke briefly about her time on H&A; saying that it was a HUGE learning curve for her. She mentioned she is half English / half Australian and was accepted into drama school in London so she left the show to do her studies in the UK. She mentioned she was also an extra in Downtown Abbey.

Good to see she has bagged herself a decent agent and enjoying regular acting work in the UK.
