I loved it, so I gave it five stars. The fire and the explosion was done really well, and Jack's death was great too, it was heartbreaking to see Martha looking for Jack and then Tony in the end. Great drama all the way through. It was definately worth the wait.

I was a bit afraid to watch the episode because I had just watched the new Desperate Housewives episode (which btw. was GREAT) and I thought Home and Away, being an ordinary Australian soap whith much lower budget, would look rubbish in the comparison. It didn't, and I think that says quite a lot about this episode. If this episode is something to judge by, the 2009 season will be great.

ETA: Whoooops. I thought 5 was the highest, so I voted for that  Well, guess I should have read the topic more carefully.

I didn't read the first post, and gave it a 4, thinking 5 was the highest. So if 1 is the highest, then I give it a 2. I quite liked it. I hesitate to say I'm glad Jack is dead, but I won't miss him, so I'm glad he's gone. Tony's horror and grief when he discovered Jack was very well portrayed by Jon. Some people thought Tony's high-pitched squeals were weird, but it seemed very realistic to me. Angelo's scene in his apartment was a complete rip-off from Rocco's scenes in the 2007 season opener, so I can't give it a rating of 1 for that. However, being reminded of the lovely Rocco was very nice! As for all the disaster and drama in the formal - whatever, I'm so over the big disaster episodes of Home And Away, they have become so tedious. Miles came across as really pathetic, he thought about Melody for all of five seconds, but all he really cares about is clinging on to Kirsty. Charlie was a real hero, I'm starting to warm to her more and more.

I agree DinerLandlord, Jon was great in that scene. And while I did think the squeals were a little weird I did think they were totally natural. I think it showed how overcome with grief he was.

I voted five thinking it was the highest!! I really liked it. I meant to give it a one.
