Sad - Seasonal Affective Disorder

My doctor recently suggested to me that I might be suffering from SAD, which considering i always go downhill in the winter makes a lot of sense. I bought a light lamp yesterday which will hopefully be delivered this week.

Does anyone else here suffer from SAD, how do you cope with it and do you find light therapy works?

I'm the same. Apparently it's something to do with not getting enough of whatever vitamin comes from the sun (k? I think?) Anyway my doc always said to get outside and either go for a walk in the sun or just sit in it for a while, neither of which is very easy in winter.

Vitamin D. :) Only way to get it in our climate would be to drink Sunny D. :P

I find overcast cold weather depressing, I actually feel less motivated to do anything and just prefer to bludge around basically. I sleep in for much longer in crap weather aswell.

Yup one of my sisters has it. Basically she tries to keep as busy as possible - and go on a sun holiday around the time of winter in England.

I'll ask her more about it for you... [hug]

Yes, I get this too. I had a light box, it was BRILLIANT, but I had to lend it to a friend cos my toddler daughter just fiddled with it all the time and tried to break it. But when I get it back after she gets older, I will be so pleased! You will find your light box such a good thing to have.

How do they work? Do you just put the box on your head or something?
