SPOILER for later on in the fic...

They risked their lives to save Summer Bay from the Stalker.

Explosion at Martha and Jack's wedding.

But this time, the lives at risk are those of the people that they love most...

JACK: (To Tony)

I love her, dad. I haven't felt like this about anyone since Martha and I got divorced. And now it might be too late for us.

PETER:

If anything happens to her, I'll never be able to forgive myself! She was taken because of me!

Two dark-haired women are laying in a small, dusty room.

A cellphone rings

PETER:

Shouting

Bring them back Zoe! They didn't do anything to you!

Jack and Peter run up a flight of stairs and burst through a door.

PETER:

Crying and cradling a brunette in his arms

Come on, you have to wake up! I love you!

Insane female laughter.

Feel free to share your theories and thoughts!

SALLY:

Hey.

PETER:

Hi, Sal! How are you doing?

SALLY:

I’m all right. I’m just glad this thing with Johnny is over.

PETER:

Not yet. He still needs to be sentenced. Which is why I need you.

SALLY:

Sure, I'll testify. But there's not much more I can do though, is there?

PETER:

There is something... You can ask Rocco to testify against Johnny.

SALLY:

Rocco? I don’t know, Peter. It’s his brother… and telling me everything was hard enough.

PETER:

I know that. But if we’re going to put this guy away forever, we need Rocco to talk.

SALLY:

I’ll see what I can do.

PETER:

Thanks, Sal.

SALLY:

Sure. That it?

He nods and she stands up and walks to the door. Just as she opens the door, Peter’s voice holds her back.

PETER:

Sal?

SALLY:

Yes?

PETER:

I’m having dinner at Dan and Leah’s tonight. Would you mind coming with me? I don’t want to be a third wheel with the happy couple.

SALLY:

I… I guess I can make it. Why not? Besides, it’s Ric’s turn to cook and I prefer Leah’s food to be honest.

PETER:

Yeah, I prefer Leah’s food above anyone else’s. So I can pick you up at say half past six?

SALLY:

Yeah, that’d be great.

Sally walks out and Peter picks up a photo of Johnny again. He smiles.

PETER:

You are going down, bastard.

ON THE BEACH

Matilda and Ric are sitting next to each other.

MATILDA:

I like this. Being able to talk to you before school. Thanks.

RIC:

Anytime. I like talking to you. So what’s bothering you? You sounded a little weird over the phone.

MATILDA:

It’s just… Lucas and Belle slept together. And it got me thinking. About us, you know.

RIC:

Yeah?

MATILDA:

I want to. With you. But… I don’t think I’m ready yet and I’m scared that…

RIC:

That I might get fed up with waiting?

MATILDA:

Yeah.

RIC:

Mattie… we agreed to take this slow. And I still feel like that. I want to wait until you’re ready.

MATILDA:

Thanks.

RIC:

I love you.

MATILDA:

I love you too.

They kiss.

IN THE DINER.

Leah is talking to a customer. Peter comes in just as the customer leaves.

LEAH:

Oh, hey Pete! What can I get you?

PETER:

Just a takeaway coffee please.

LEAH:

Right.

She makes and gives him the coffee.

PETER:

Listen, Leah, about tonight… I’m bringing someone – if that’s okay.

LEAH:

You’re bringing… like a date? Peter that’s great! I’m really happy for you.

PETER:

No, Leah! That’s not…

She cuts him off when a woman from a nearby table signals for her.

LEAH:

I have to go, but I’ll see you tonight. Can’t wait to meet your date!

She runs off.

PETER:

It’s not like that.

He shakes his head and walks out.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

Lucas, Belle, Cassie, Matilda and Rocco are sitting in Sally’s classroom.

ROCCO:

I’m also worried about her. She seems weird lately. I hope this isn’t about Johnny.

CASSIE:

I don’t think so, Rocco. She would have said something if it was.

BELLE:

Maybe it’s a guy.

CASSIE:

Not everything is about that, Belle.

BELLE:

Well it’s possible! She’s an attractive woman and she’s been alone for way too long now.

LUCAS:

Okay, whatever this is, don’t you find it a little weird to discuss her like this?

Sally comes in.

SALLY:

Hey guys.

BELLE:

Hi Mrs Fletcher. How are you?

SALLY:

I’m fine, thank you Belle.

BELLE:

Anything interesting happen lately?

SALLY:

Not really. What’s this about?

CASSIE:

Sal! Is it okay if I invited Rocco over for dinner?

SALLY:

Sure, but I won’t be home for dinner. I’m going over to Dan and Leah’s. You wouldn’t mind taking care of Pippa, would you? I’d take her, but she’s a little cranky.

MATILDA:

Ric and I will take care of her.

SALLY:

Thank you, Matilda.

BELLE:

So who are you going with? A handsome guy, I hope.

LUCAS:

Okay, Belle! Let’s take a walk!

She groans but leaves with Lucas.

I'll put the next part on later today! Gotta go watch it now though, starts in 2 minutes in SA!

SALLY’S HOUSE.

The doorbell rings and Cassie answers. It is Peter with a huge bunch of flowers.

CASSIE:

Detective Baker? Hi.

PETER:

Hey Cassie. I’ve just come to pick up Sal.

Sally comes to the front door, looking breathtaking in a short white dress.

SALLY:

Hi.

PETER:

Hands her the flowers

You look great. And these are just to say thanks for coming with me.

SALLY:

You didn’t have to bring me flowers… but thank you, Peter.

PETER:

I guess we need to go.

SALLY:

Yeah… Cas can you put these in water please?

CASSIE:

Sure.

Sally gives Cassie the flowers. Peter and Sally leaves and Cassie stands in the doorway, stunned. Rocco arrives.

ROCCO:

Was that Detective Baker and Sally?

CASSIE:

Yeah.

ROCCO:

Are they…?

CASSIE:

I have no idea.

ROCCO:

That’s just too weird.

AT DAN AND LEAH’S

THE DOORBELL RINGS AND LEAH RUSHES TO OPEN THE DOOR. PETER AND SALLY ARE STANDING THERE.

LEAH:

In shock.

Sal?

EPISODE/CHAPTER 2

Thanks for the feedback!!

Previously in Summer Bay…

ALF:

Is everything all right, love?

Sal?

SALLY:

Hmm? Oh, yeah. Everything’s fine.

MATILDA:

I want to. With you. But… I don’t think I’m ready yet and I’m scared that…

RIC:

MATILDA:

Yeah.

RIC:

Mattie… we agreed to take this slow. And I still feel like that. I want to wait until you’re ready.

ROCCO:

Was that Detective Baker and Sally?

CASSIE:

Yeah.

ROCCO:

Are they…?

CASSIE:

I have no idea.

ROCCO:

That’s just too weird.

AT DAN AND LEAH’S. THE DOORBELL RINGS AND LEAH RUSHES TO OPEN THE DOOR. PETER AND SALLY ARE STANDING THERE.

LEAH:

In shock.

Sal?

XXX

AT DAN AND LEAH’S.

Sal, Peter, Dan and Leah are sitting at the table. Leah stands up and starts picking up the plates.

SALLY:

Oh, can I help you with that?

PETER:

No! It’s okay, Sal. You just relax, I’ll help her.

Peter and Leah share a look and they walk into the kitchen.

DAN:

So Sal… you and Peter? Are you…?

SALLY:

No! He just didn’t want to be a third wheel tonight, there’s nothing going on.

DAN:

Oh. Sorry, I just reckoned…

SALLY:

That’s okay.

DAN:

So you’re just friends?

SALLY:

Yeah, of course.

IN THE KITCHEN.

PETER:

Believe me, I know how… weird… this is, but I can’t help it, Leah. I know I shouldn’t have these feelings, but…

LEAH:

You can’t help what you feel, Pete. I just don’t want anyone to get hurt.

PETER:

I know. But I can’t choose who I love. I really thought I stopped feeling like this, but… I never did.

LEAH:

Look, now isn’t the time to talk about this. Not with Sally and Dan waiting for dessert. Meet me on the beach tomorrow, I’ll text you.

PETER:

Thanks, Leah. I…

LEAH:

Yeah, I know.

They hug and then they walk out with the dessert.

FLETCHER HOUSE

Pippa is crying. Rocco is holding her.

ROCCO;

Hey, Pip. Don’t cry, come on. She stops crying and Rocco smiles. There’s a good girl!

CASSIE:

You’re good with her.

ROCCO:

Yeah well. She’s just adorable, Aren’t you, Pip? Yes!

CASSIE:

I wonder where Ric and Mattie are though. They were the ones who volunteered to babysit.

ROCCO:

I don’t mind watching her! Do you?

CASSIE:

No, not at all. I’ll just start with dinner.

ON THE BEACH

Ric and Matilda are sitting next to each other

RIC:

Matilda, I don’t want you to do this because it’s what I want.

MATILDA:

This is what I want, Ric. I don’t know how much clearer I can make it.

RIC:

All right… but I want you to be sure…

MATILDA:

I am sure. I don’t want to be stuck in a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. I love you and I want our relationship to go to the next level.

DAN AND LEAH’S.

Sally and Peter say goodbye and leave. Dan and Leah stand in the door after they have left.

DAN:

Do you really think they’re just friends?

LEAH:

Peter and Sal? Yeah, I don’t think there’s anything more there. So are you going to help me do the dishes?

DAN:

Yeah, sure. It would be nice though, wouldn’t it? Peter and Sal being together. She’d be good for him.

LEAH:

Dan! He has to make his own relationship choices, you know.

DAN:

Yeah, I know. I’m just saying.

LEAH:

You never just say. Come on, let’s go clean up.

FLETCHER HOUSE

Sally and Peter arrive.

SALLY:

It looks like the kids already went to bed. You want to come in for a cup of coffee?

PETER:

Sure, that’d be great.

SALLY:

Where’s Drew tonight?

PETER:

He’s staying over at Lucas’. Has he been acting strange at school?

SALLY:

No, not that I’ve noticed. Why?

PETER:

He just seems a little distant.

SALLY:

It could be a girl, you know.

PETER:

Yeah, it probably is. Women do strange things to us men. One minute you’re fine and the next…. Your whole life is turned upside down. And you just want to be with this person. No matter what.

SALLY:

If there’s something you want to talk about…

PETER:

Is it wrong to have feelings for someone who is married, Sal?

SALLY:

Well… you can’t help what you feel so having feelings wouldn’t be wrong. But acting on them… might be. Peter, what is this about, who…?

She’s interrupted by Cassie who comes into the kitchen. When she sees Sally and Peter she backs away, but not before Sally sees that she’d been crying.

SALLY:

Cassie, wait! What happened?

CASSIE:

Crying

I really thought he changed, Sal!

Sally stands up and softly touches a red mark on Cassie’s face. Peter joins them.

PETER:

He?

CASSIE:

Macca.

Why did Macca hit Cassie?

What is Drew hiding from Peter?

And who is the woman Peter has feelings for?

AMANDA’S HOUSE

Amanda and Drew are sitting on the couch, holding each other.

DREW:

I think my dad is getting a little suspicious.

AMANDA:

Oh no! No one can find out Drew! You know that – you have to do something!

DREW:

Amanda… I’ve been thinking about this. Maybe if I tell my dad how I feel about you he’ll understand.

AMANDA:

No, Drew! Do you remember Dan’s reaction when he found out? Peter will be a million times worse. He can never know. Never.

DREW:

But Amanda…

AMANDA:

No buts! No one can know, is that clear?

DREW:

Yeah, okay.

AMANDA:

And you have to leave now. Macca is on his way.

AT SALLY’S HOUSE

CASSIE:

Ric and Mattie didn’t show up, so Rocco and I decided to have dinner and watch Pippa on our own. Then Macca came over – to surprise me. Shortly after he came, Rocco left, figuring that we’d want to be alone. Macca went crazy because Rocco and I were alone.

SALLY:

So he hit you?

CASSIE:

Thank goodness Pippa was asleep!

PETER:

You should charge him with assault, Cassie. You can’t let him get away with this.

SALLY:

Peter’s right. Not again.

PETER:

Again? You mean this happened before?

CASSIE:

Yes. But I really thought he changed.

PETER:

Guys like that don’t just change, Cassie! It takes years for them to get rehabilitated – if they ever do. You are going to the police, right?

CASSIE:

I think so… but I want to talk to Macca first.

SALLY:

I don’t think that’s a good idea, Cas.

PETER:

I agree with Sal. It’s not very clever. He won’t take you dumping him and dobbing him into the cops very well.

CASSIE:

I need to talk to him first. Please try to understand.

SALLY:

All right. But then I want to be here – in case he tries something.

PETER:

You’re two women! It’s not like respect for you will stop him from hitting you too Sal! I want to be here as well.

CASSIE:

Fine. But you only come out when it’s necessary, okay? I don’t want him to think I don’t trust him.

PETER:

I’ll ask Jack and Fitzy to wait outside in case he gets out of control.

CASSIE:

Wait, you’re acting like this is some dangerous criminal! This is Macca we are talking about!

PETER:

Cassie… A guy who has it in him to hit a woman is dangerous. Trust me, okay? I’ve dealt with these type of guys. There’s no telling in where they will stop.

POLICE STATION

JACK:

Yeah, we’ll be right over. Okay, Pete. Bye.

He puts the phone down and looks at Fitzy.

FITZY:

What was that all about?

JACK:

It’s Macca. He’s hit Cassie again. Peter want us to go over to Sally’s, I’ll explain his plan on the way.

FITZY:

Are you okay? I mean… it’s Martha’s brother.

JACK:

Yeah, I know. I’m fine… I just… If we have to arrest him…

FITZY:

Yeah, don’t worry about it. I’ll do it.

JACK:

Thanks, Fitzy.

He runs his hand through his hair and Fitzy hugs him.

FITZY:

Hey. It’ll be all right, okay.

JACK:

Yeah. Thanks. I guess we have to go.

FITZY:

Yeah. Come on.

SALLY’S HOME.

Cassie is sitting on the couch in the living room. Peter is upstairs, hiding behind the steps and Sally is standing behind the door in the living room. There is a knock on the door and Cassie jumps up and opens the door. It is Macca.

CASSIE:

Macca… we need to talk.

MACCA:

Yeah. Is this the part where you tell me that you’re so sorry it’s over but you prefer Pretty Boy Cooper?

CASSIE:

This has nothing to do with Rocco. There’s nothing between us.

They walk into the house and Cassie shakes her head.

CASSIE:

I trusted you. I thought you’d never hit me again. But you did. That’s why this is over, Macca.

MACCA:

Come on, Cas. It was a stupid mistake! You can’t just dump me like that.

CASSIE:

Well, I just did.

Peter phone vibrates – he has a text message from Leah. He opens it and doesn’t see Macca grabbing Cassie’s shoulders. Sally however, sees this and rushes over to them She grabs Macca’s arm angrily.

SALLY:

You get your hands off my daughter!

Macca dismissively lifst his arm, hitting Sally across the face. She loses her balance and falls against the couch. Cassie frees herself from Macca and tends to Sally. Peter comes running off the stairs.

CASSIE:

Sal! Sal, are you okay?

Upon seeing Peter, Macca turns to run away, but Peter is too fast and grabs him by the collar.

PETER:

Don’t even think about running away, you creep!

Macca tries to hit Peter, but Peter blocks the punch with one of his own. The two men engage in a violent fist fight. Cassie and Sally jump up and try to get them off each other.

SALLY:

Peter! Let him go!

Jack and Fitzy come running in. Fitzy and Sally manage in getting a hold of Peter while Jack firmly holds Macca. Peter turns to Sally.

PETER:

Are you okay?

SALLY:

I’m fine.

Fitzy walks forward.

FITZY:

Michael MacKenzie, I arrest you on the charges of domestic violence and recurring assault on a female. You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say might be held against you in a court of law.

Cassie sits down on the couch, crying. Sally sits down next to her, holding her.

Episode/Chapter 3 Spoiler will be up later.

Why is Cassie avoiding Rocco?

What is wrong with Leah?

What will happen to shake the whole Summer Bay community?
