EPISODE/CHAPTER 3

PREVIOUSLY IN SUMMER BAY

PETER:

I know. But I can’t choose who I love. I really thought I stopped feeling like this, but… I never did.

LEAH:

Look, now isn’t the time to talk about this. Not with Sally and Dan waiting for dessert. Meet me on the beach tomorrow, I’ll text you.

MATILDA:

This is what I want, Ric. I don’t know how much clearer I can make it.

RIC:

All right… but I want you to be sure…

MATILDA:

I am sure. I don’t want to be stuck in a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. I love you and I want our relationship to go to the next level.

PETER:

He just seems a little distant.

SALLY:

It could be a girl, you know.

PETER:

Yeah, it probably is. Women do strange things to us men. One minute you’re fine and the next…. Your whole life is turned upside down. And you just want to be with this person. No matter what.

SALLY:

If there’s something you want to talk about…

PETER:

Is it wrong to have feelings for someone who is married, Sal?

PETER:

Cassie… A guy who has it in him to hit a woman is dangerous. Trust me, okay? I’ve dealt with these type of guys. There’s no telling in where they will stop

FITZY:

Michael MacKenzie, I arrest you on the charges of domestic violence and recurring assault on a female. You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say might be held against you in a court of law.

AT THE POLICE STATION.

Fitzy and Jack are standing next to each other, busy with some paperwork. Jack looks up and touches Fitzy’s arm.

JACK:

Will you call Martha?

FITZY:

I would. But she needs to hear this from you, Jack.

JACK:

I guess you’re right. This is just not the type of news I really want to share with my ex-wife.

FITZY:

Do you still love her?

JACK:

A part of me will always love Martha. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not able to move on.

FITZY:

Oh? So there is someone?

JACK:

I might have my eye on someone.

FITZY:

You should call Martha.

JACK:

Yeah, you’re right. I don’t want her to hear this through Stereo Smart.

FLETCHER HOME

Sally, Alf, Cassie, Ric and Matilda are sitting in the living room.

RIC:

I swear if I get my hands on him I will…

SALLY:

Do nothing, Ric! He’s in jail now, just let it go.

MATILDA:

I can’t believe he messed his second chance up like that. What was he thinking?

RIC:

He wasn’t.

CASSIE:

I’m going to bed. Excuse me.

SALLY:

We’ll stop discussing this, we can talk about something else, Cas.

CASSIE:

I just need to be alone for a while. I have a lot to get my head around.

RIC:

Cas… if you need to talk… we’re here for you.

CASSIE:

Thanks, Ric.

She smiles sadly and walks upstairs.

AT THE POLICE STATION

Martha runs in. She ignores Jack and walks straight to Fitzy.

MARTHA:

I want to see him. Now.

FITZY:

Okay, follow me.

They walk in to where Macca is sitting. He stands up when he sees Martha.

MACCA:

Martha…

MARTHA:

How dare you? How dare you even speak to me?

MACCA:

Martha, please…

MARTHA:

How could you do that to Cassie? After you promised everyone you’ve changed! And Sal? She put all her trust in you, convinced me to give you a second chance! Is this how you thank her?

MACCA;

I didn’t mean to…

MARTHA:

I can’t believe you’re so pathetic! You’re an embarrassment to me!

MACCA:

If you could just…

MARTHA:

I hope you rot in jail! It’s where you belong!

She storms out again.

ON THE BEACH.

Peter and Leah is sitting next to each other, looking at the ocean.

PETER:

I can’t even remember when this started. All I know is that it never ended. I can’t go on like this, Leah. I’m losing my mind.

LEAH:

Pete…

He runs his hand through his hair like a little boy and Leah puts her arm around him. They sit like that until Peter spots Sally and Cassie walking along the beach. Peter stands up.

PETER:

I want to hear how they’re doing.

LEAH:

Yeah, so do I.

He pulls her up and they walk up to Cassie and Sally. Sally looks a little taken aback to see them together, but smiles brightly.

SALLY:

Hey guys.

PETER:

Hey Sal. Cassie. Leah and I just wanted to see how you were doing.

SALLY:

We’re doing okay, thank you.

Cassie looks over her shoulder and sees Martha sitting on the beach, crying.

CASSIE:

I’m just going over to Martha.

She leaves. Leah looks at her watch.

LEAH:

I’d better get to the diner. See you guys later.

Cassie sits down next to Martha. Neither of them says anything, they just hug each other tightly.

Sally and Peter slowly walk along the beach talking to each other. They don’t notice someone taking pictures of them…

NEXT IN SUMMER BAY...

Something's bothering her... but what could it be?

DINER

IRENE:

Is everything all right, darl?

LEAH:

Hmm? Oh yeah, I'm... I'm fine.

IRENE:

I can see something's botherin' you. If you want to talk... I'm here.

LEAH:

Thanks, Irene. Listen, would you mind if I knocked off early? Actually, you're right, I'm not feeling too good.

Who broke into the Holden house?

POLICE STATION:

Fitzy puts down the phone with a frown

FITZY:

Jack, that was your dad. Someone broke in to the house.

And who is tormenting Sally Fletcher?

SUMMER BAY HIGH.

Sally is standing in the parking area. A rock flies out of nowhere, breaking the windscreen of her car.

SALLY:

Who are you?

Gunshot

Sally starts running

SUMMER BAY HIGH

Sally is on her way to her classroom when she accidentally bumps into Drew.

DREW:

Oh, sorry Mrs Fletcher

SALLY:

It’s all right, Drew.

Cassie approaches them. Sally and Cassie walk away. Cassie tries to duck in behind Sally when she sees Rocco.

SALLY:

Cas? What’s wrong?

CASSIE:

I don’t want Rocco to see me, I don’t want him to think this is his fault.

SALLY:

All right… Come on in, quick.

They swiftly enter Sally’s classroom and Cassie sits down on one of the tables.

SALLY:

Cas… I don’t know if this is just my imagination… but… you have feelings for Rocco, don’t you?

CASSIE:

What? Of course not! I could never have feelings for Rocco, it’s crazy!

She jumps up and storms out of the classroom. Sally frowns.

AT THE DINER

Leah is sitting at a table, staring out in front of her blankly. Irene sits down next to her and puts a hand on top of Leah’s.

IRENE:

Is everything all right, darl?

LEAH:

Hmm? Oh yeah, I'm... I'm fine.

IRENE:

I can see something's botherin' you. If you want to talk... I'm here.

LEAH:

Thanks, Irene. Listen, would you mind if I knocked off early? Actually, you're right, I'm not feeling too good.

IRENE:

Don’t give it a second thought, love! I can handle the diner on my own. You just rest up, okay?

LEAH:

Yeah… thanks, Irene.

She grabs her carkeys and walks out of the diner.

AT THE POLICE STATION

The phone rings. Fitzy picks it up.

FITZY:

Summerbay Police Station, constable Fitzgerald speaking. Are you serious? Okay, sure. Don’t worry, Tony, we’ll be right over.

She puts down the phone and looks at Jack.

Jack, that was your dad. Someone broke in to the house.

HOLDEN/HUNTER HOUSE

Beth and Tony are sitting on a couch. Fitzy and Jack are sitting opposite them. A few other constables are searching the place.

FITZY:

Right, so you got home to find all the windows open and the pictures turned over?

TONY:

Yes.

FITZY:

And nothing was taken?

BETH:

Nothing we’ve noticed. The valuables are still here.

JACK:

I don’t understand this! It’s just odd, who would do something like this?

FITZY:

Well, there’s nothing more we can do here. We’ll get someone to guard the place overnight, but keep the doors locked and give us a call if you notice anything, all right?

Tony and Beth walk out, followed by Jack and Fitzy. Just before they reach the door, Fitzy looks down and picks something up from the ground. It’s a piece of paper. She looks at it and then puts it in her pocket…

The next part!

Thanks for all the comments - keeps me motivated!

SUMMER BAY HIGH

Cassie is sitting outside on the steps. Rocco approaches her and sits down beside her.

ROCCO:

If I hadn't known better I'd think you were avoiding me.

CASSIE:

I'm not...

ROCCO:

Have I done something?

CASSIE:

No. I just have a lot to deal with at the moment.

ROCCO:

Yeah, Matilda told me about what Macca did. I'm sorry, Cassie.

CASSIE:

Yeah, so am I.

ROCCO:

If I'd known that he'd do that, I would never have left you alone with him!

CASSIE:

It's not your fault. What upsets me most is that he hit Sal. She's such a great mum, such an amazing person. She didn't deserve that.

ROCCO:

Neither did you.

CASSIE:

I've done some terrible things.

ROCCO:

You still didn't deserve to be treated like that Cassie. Macca should have treated you like the amazing, special woman that you are.

CASSIE:

Thanks.

ROCCO:

Come to the diner with me, I'll buy you lunch.

He pulls her up by her hand and they walk away.

SUMMER BAY HIGH - PARKING AREA.

Sally is walking to her car. When she reaches it, she discovers that all the tyres have been punctured and the front window is broken. She frowns, looking appaled and scared.

SUMMERBAY POLICE STATION

The phone rings. Jack answers it.

JACK:

Summer Bay Police Station... Hi Sal. Okay, Sally just calm down and tell me what happened. We'll be right over!

He puts down the phone and looks at Fitzy.

JACK:

Someone violated Sally's car.

FITZY:

What?

JACK:

Yeah, it looks like we're dealing with some kind of Stalker here.

FITZY:

Jack... I need to show you something.

She takes the piece of paper that she picked up at the Holden/Hunter house out of her pocket and hands it to Jack.

He unfolds it. The words Tick Tock are scribbled on it.

JACK:

Where did you get this?

FITZY:

At your dad's house. I didn't want to show you there and upset anyone.

JACK:

All right, we can talk about this later. But we have to go to Sally first.

PETER:

(From behind them)

What about Sally?

What a refreshingly wonderful fic! I enjoy the script format of this fic as it's very easy to read, has many twists and turns, angst, drama and a great plot.

Please continue to write more and also to update as I look forward to reading the continuing sagas of the residents of Summer Bay.

My favourite quote from the introduction:

Rachel lives in the city and Kim is anywhere but in the fic.

I hope that Rachel will make a cameo appearance or surprise visit anywhere throughout the fic.

Keep up the wonderful work and please update soon.

/\ /\ Thanx guyz... Yeah, Quiet Achiever - I'm not really a Kim-fan. And yes, Rachel might come to the bay to help a friend in need... Thanx a lot for reading and commenting! I luv it!

Here goes... Stalker stuff alert.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

Sally is standing next to her car. She’s all alone. Suddenly a rock flies out of nowhere, breaking her windscreen.

SALLY:

Hello? Who are you?

A female voice starts laughing insanely.

SALLY:

Come out! We can talk!

A gunshot is fired. It soars past Sally and hits a tree nearby. Without thinking twice, Sally starts running away as fast as she can. Two patrol cars are on their way to the school and both come to a stop when the drivers see Sally. Peter jumps out of one of the cars and Sally runs right into his arms. He holds her closely, stroking her hair.

PETER:

Sally, what happened?

SALLY:

There… someone was shooting at me…

PETER:

Jack, Fitzy – see if you can find something. I’m taking Sally home.

SALLY:

No! I can’t go home, not now… Please…

PETER:

Right, I’m taking you to the diner then. Come on, Sal. Don’t worry – I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.

They get into Peter’s car.

AT THE DINER.

Sally and Peter are sitting at a table. Colleen, Dan, Leah, Ric, Cassie, Rocco and Matilda are standing at their table.

CASSIE:

This doesn’t make any sense. Why would someone want to hurt Sal?

RIC:

I don’t get it either.

COLLEEN:

And to think he was right there and poor Sal was all alone. You don’t reckon it could be that Johnny fella who is behind all this?

At this, Rocco storms out of the diner. Sally jumps out of her chair and runs after him.

SALLY:

Rocco! Wait!

PETER:

No, Colleen, I don’t think it was Johnny. He’s in jail, what can he do?

ON THE BEACH

Rocco is staring at the ocean. Sally walks up to him and puts a hand on his shoulder.

SALLY:

Rocco…

ROCCO:

What if it is him, Sally? What if this is my fault?

SALLY:

Peter doesn’t think it’s Johnny. And neither do I.

ROCCO:

But it could be! If I never came to the bay… then none of this would have happened!

SALLY:

You can’t say that… Besides, if you never came to the Bay… I wouldn’t have had you as my son.

Rocco starts crying.

ROCCO:

I wish… I wish you really were my mum. My life would have been so much better!

Sally and Rocco hug.
