^ Probably because it would have cost a ton and Rachel probably thought Bridget would sell it and get the money instead. I don't think she knew Alf was going to follow Bridget to the States either so she had to tell him so he didn't go.
-
Sorry I probably came across wrong. I wasn't blaming Tony at all, I understand why he reacted the way he did. I think it's a difficult situation for both of them and neither of them are at fault here. With ultrasounds though you can't just reschedule them, especially if it's her 12 week one. The foetus has to be checked at certain stages to make sure there aren't problems with its development. I think it's such a difficult situation in. The best thing for Tony to do is try to look at the positive things in his life and focus on those to help him through and I think that's what Rachel's trying to do for him.
-
Wow, I love this thread so much more right now haha. I've managed to watch half the episode and was getting ready to have a go at Rachel to be honest after reading the comments but seriously. She told him TWICE he didn't have to go to the ultrasound if he didn't feel up to it. And then I think the thing that upset her was that instead of going to the ultrasound, he went and had a few beers with Alf at the Surf Club. It's not like he was sitting at home crying his eyes out. Therefore, I'm sorry to say, but I really don't think she was selfish at all in this instance.

I agree Zetti. I think she maybe went about it the wrong way, outing her in public but she never intended to do it that way the pressure just got too much. She tried telling Alf privately and he threw her out of the Surf Club. She allowed herself to get emotionally blackmailed by Bridget and anyway, Alf would have found out when the cops arrived AND she never told everyone, she made Bridget. Plus she went to see Alf because she was worried about him and to apologise for not telling him sooner, she didn't go there expecting to be thanked. The only reason she kept it from Alf was because he was grieving over Jack and she didn't want to hurt him even more so she actually tried inadvertantly helping Bridget in an effort to save Alf's feelings. I can't comment on the Tony situation yet as I haven't seen the episode but I shall later

I love the little bump What's really sad about Rachel's situation at the minute if she's really trying to do the right thing by other people but maybe not going about it the best way. She tried to tell Alf in private and he chucked her out of the Surf Club so he can't really blame her for the way she had to tell him. Anyway she didn't tell him, she forced Bridget to tell him. If she was truly interested in the "glory" of finding it out, she'd have told him the minute she found out, not allow herself to get blackmailed in order to spare his feelings. It must be awful to have to keep a secret like that, not knowing what the best thing to do is. I do feel for her to for tomorrow's episode. Even though I'm not blaming Tony (he can pretty much get away with anything at the minute because I know his feelings are just because he's grieving over Jack) it would be really hurtful for Rachel to hear that. I wont comment much on it until I've seen the whole episode but I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a lovely make-up scene. I'm just glad they're talking. (Sorry this should probably be in the Tony and Rachel thread)

Yer, even if she'd have revealed about Bridget, doesn't mean Brian would have been caught. He would have still kidnapped VJ to get the money. I'm glad she did it, Bridget deserves to face the consequences.

I agree with you emmasi! I think it's the fact that Tony needed the time with Gina to set up this brotherly/sisterly relationship which we didn't even know he had then spend time introducing the rest of the Austin's as individual characters with their typical family secrets that they just couldn't fit in scenes with Rachel and Tony and we had to sort of fill in the gaps ourselves. I love that they've brought in some family for poor Tony BUT like you I don't want them to be there just to replace Jack and Lucas. They've had a totally different upbringing and that should reflect in their personalities.
-
I'm equally annoyed - a total waste of one of Rachel and Tony's days. What was the point? There was absolutely no aftermath to Tony finding out about Jack being 'murdered' by Angelo, no ACTUAL conversation has happened between Tachel since Jack died. They've not said one thing to each other. I understand that the writers need to juggle with a lot of characters but surely they deserve one scene? I'm really hoping for more next week. One scene doesn't count as an episode in my opinion.

Haha hattie, you're truly a member of the Tachel obsessiveness now you've started analyzing clothes (I noticed the same thing hehe) The one good thing to come out of the lack of Tachel is it's portraying firstly how depressive Tony is becoming and pushing himself away and also how helpless Rachel is feeling. It's so difficult to know what to do in a situation like this and you can tell she's struggling and doing her best. Did anyone notice the little cuddle they were having when Xavier and Hugo were having their little argument. Well she had her hand on his chest and he was holding it. Liked the end as well, awesome acting from Jon and so unTony like - Rachel's face was priceless. You could tell she was just completely shocked with her hands were on her head and screaming his name I was hoping she'd come over and give him a cuddle at the end when he fell to the floor Soooo pleased to see they have scenes tomorrow like you said hattie!!

Haha I must have watched Tachel scenes so many times that I've started talking like Rachel now I'd like for there to be another storyline with her Dad, maybe once the baby comes, then Tony can show him what a Dad's meant to be like haha. I think her relationship with her Dad has affected her as well, probably all that effort she put in to trying to please him is the reason she tries so hard (and sometimes too hard) to please people now, sometimes interfering where she's not wanted! It's probably what has made her so desperate for children also, so she can give a child the life she wished she had. I meant to say to you actually that I noticed Amy wears earrings so perhaps it is a Rachel thing. I have my ears pierced but I always forget to put earrings in! She must be reeeally short to be shorter than Jess. Mind you I have noticed the heels she wears being mega at work so perhaps that's why she wears such high heels to work. I never realised she was so short but when I saw those logie pics I really noticed it. My favourite Leah/Rachel scene....hmm. One that stands out to me is the episode after Kim leaves Rachel and Leah comes round to visit just after she gets back from Sallys. There was some really nice dialogue said between them and then Leah kissed her head just before she left and said she'd come and check on Rachel later, then Rachel said "alrriiight thank you" That small but sweet scene just really showed to me how much they're there for each other. Another test of their frienship shows in the fact that Leah is the first person Rachel told that she'd been raped by Henk. That was quite a lovely scene, with leah crying when she realised what happened and she kept coming round to check on Rachel. I do love the consistency of their friendship and I wish it was shown a bit more, with Leah being a very underused character we don't get to see a lot of Rachel helping Leah (only when Dan died if I remember rightly) but more the other way round. We see Rachel helping everyone else though! Haha it must be the accent but I remember liking the way she said Kirsty...she like really accentuated it. I wish I had an Oz accent, so much prettier than English!

Why thank you

Yaay! Haha good to hear Zetti. She does have her faults and as a professional she can come across as a bit condescending sometimes but I think that's just a trait of being a doctor because she's in a caring, authorative profession. She tries to help everybody all the time but it can sometimes be seen as interfering. Overall I love that she's a complex character, a strong personality with a gentle and well meaning personality. I thought today's (five) episode reflected a lot of the 'old' Rachel; it proved how much of a strong figure she is in the community and how everybody trusts her and goes to her when they're struggling. I particularly loved her scenes with Belle (the sweetie line was...sweet haha) and with Martha. The fact that she's now pregnant and has the one thing she's wanted more than anything after a long struggle and heartche to get there yet she hasn't discussed it with Martha or shown any reaction about it despite being so excited out of sensitivity for Martha's miscarriage shows how empathetic and kind hearted she is. Sure she has some bad qualities (don't we all) but I think overall she's a genuine and kind hearted person. That's my character analysis for the evening haha.

I think birth scenes must be some of the hardest scenes to do as an actress. I know I wouldn't want a camera filming me pretending to have a baby haha. I think were going to see more Rachel comforting Tony scenes in the ones coming up over the next few weeks, so exciting! I have loved seeing all the different sides to Rachel this week, being strong, breaking down, being protective of her family, being furious with Bridget. Shows her versatility as an actress, would love to see her get a best actress Logie.
-
I know what you mean Kirsty, it really frustrated me. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a few days later because Alf apologised to Rachel in yesterdays episode for what he said "the other day." He said it to her the night Jack died. I did like seeing her defend her family in today's episode though and she mentioned how Tony's thrown himself into organising the funeral so I guess there's not much she could be doing at home but sitting there watching him. I like how they're staying with Martha at the minute, I think that's sweet.

Feel free to join in, the more the better haha. That was the line that really got me, "I couldn't leave my boy" So tragic, Jon absolutely excelled himself tonight and I couldn't be more pleased with the material as Tachel fans that we were given. Both of them have such powerful eyes that when Rachel came out and saw Tony and they just both looked at each other, it was devestating.
-
I looked at the stethescope, I couldn't make out a name, maybe it was just the make of the stethescope? That little scene Charlene was so powerful because they communicated just through looks and not words. Tony's eyes just looked so lost and desperate. I also thought it was heartbreaking the way Tony jumped up and his eyes sort of lit up when Rachel walked in at J&M's. Did you guys see their hug at J&M's as Tony comforting Rachel? A lot of people mentioned it and I thought so as well at first however after watching it a few times I think she was comforting him to because if you watch Tony, he started crying when she held him to. And this is really freaky but the first few times I watched that hug (haha shows how many times I've seen it) I could have sworn I heard Rachel saying I'm so so sorry. Weird. I think she'd been holding it together for hours and just trying to comfort Tony at the hospital and having to look at his dead body must have been so difficult. I think it just all got a bit too much for her. And it was the first time they'd been alone since it happened. Just to cheer us up a bit, did you all notice that Rachel walked out of Jack's room after *not* pronouncing him dead gloveless and when she hugged Tony she had a glove on her hand?
-
Haha. She has worn it before when Tony brought her mail in all that time ago and there was a letter from the stalker. But it looked way too big on her. Maybe she's just lost weight since then. Aww I can't take in all this Tachelness tonight.
-
^^ She did used to live there, maybe they never changed the locks when she left? Tony also has one to, I know my family all have keys to each others houses in case of an emergency. It was a random black t-shirt but I thought it looked way too big on her, just my random observation Right off to watch it again, the Tachel scenes anyway.
-
I really can't put into words how much I loved the Tachel scenes tonight and what an AMAZING performance both Jon and Amy put in. My favourite scene was without a doubt when they were at J/M's and Rachel broke down and held Tony. I loved how she had been strong all throughout the episode, putting aside her feelings to support Tony and they just held each other and Tony started crying. It was such a beautiful moment. I did notice Tony rubbing her back as well and I thought that was so lovely of him. Despite his own overwhelming grief he knew what Rachel had to do as a doctor and she'd been on a full shift when she just wanted to be home with him. I also adored the hug we saw in the promo, the way Rachel just looked at him to let him know he was gone with poor Tony standing there with all Jack's blood on him. The writers really didn't disappoint with Tachel today and I thank them so much I'm sure I'll have more to write when I've watched the episode again a few times so watch this space

Wow she really was incredible tonight. It must be so hard as an actress/actor to have to do a scene where the second the director says action you just have to cry on scene with no emotional dialogue to build up to it. I give full credit to her and I'm really pleased the writers made her an integral part of today's episode, her acting is just phenomonal. The scene of her outside on the porch was just so beautiful, I think she was trying to compose herself so she could support Tony. I'll post all my thoughts on the Tachel part of the episode in the Tachel thread so will just stick to the Rachel parts. I thought it was lovely how she was the one to cover him up (I'm sure Tony and Martha would be pleased that it was her to do it and not some stranger) and she showed her struggle with trying to be professional yet being devestated herself and trying to support her fiancee. She can communicate so much with just her eyes, the way in which when she declared that she couldn't pronounce him dead and would get someone else and walked out to Tony letting him know he was definetely gone. It was heartbreaking and she really showed her strength as a character and actress. Would love to see Amy get a Best Actress Logie this year, she truly deserved it. Whatever people's thought are on Rachel as a character, I don't think anyone can deny her acting tonight was top standard.

I don't think Lucas lives with Kit/Kim, he stays at Uni. BUT when he first left for Uni he stayed with Kit and Kim for a while I think because when Tony called him he mentioned about Kit taking Archie to the doctors. It is such a weird uncomfortable situation to be in especially if Kit and Kim had wanted to come to Jack's funeral. I think in the long run Tachel will be fine but there will be some problems at first no doubt where he's trying to cope on his own and pushes Rachel away a little bit. I'm sure she'll understand and wont taking anything he says seriously but it will no doubt hurt her. We should have some really good Tachel scenes coming up I'm so excited.
-
I think that's why she's my favourite to, because I really relate to her! She's got a strong personality yet a really gentle kind heart. I'm hoping she gets some really good storylines this year, Amy's an amazing actress so she'll do them justice!

Haha yer that's so funny that line, poor Tony. He must have been so embarassed but it worked because it earnt him a kiss haha. I'm looking forward to them going back to happier times which weve been told they will so looking forward to it!
