Episode 8633

Extended Summary

Remi runs into Eddie by the beach. It turns out they have both been summoned there by Sonny, who told them he has news. Sonny, Justin and Dana approach. Sonny and Justin have been in the city and were working out the details when Sonny decided to push for more. Eddie is now performing on the main stage. However, it does mean they now need to find an extra twenty minutes.

Up in Salt, Jo decides it was a mistake meeting Tane and that she is just sending out mixed signals. Tane stops her from leaving, asking why she wanted to meet. Jo says it was because of something David said, but before she can say much more, she gets a phone call from Eddie. Although she doesn’t answer it, she quickly leaves.

Outside the surf club, Remi is going over what he needs to do, with a new set list and backing tracks. He turns down offers of help with Sonny noting he prefers to do these things on his own. Sonny announces that he agreed to help sell extra tickets and has flyers to hand out. Justin quietly asks him not to leave any at the Diner, since he’s hoping to keep it quiet from Leah and doesn’t think she’ll even notice that he’s not there for three days. Jo comes out and bumps into Eddie and Dana. Tane watches from the balcony as Eddie explains about being on the main stage and asks her to join them on the party train. Jo notices Tane watching them and suggests she and Eddie go for a swim. Eddie also notices Tane.

Dana heads up to Salt and comments on Tane being there, since she thought he might be halfway to Mexico given that last she heard Harper didn’t know where he and Archie were. Tane says that’s all sorted but Kerrie’s still around and probably meeting Archie, which neither of them is happy about. Dana offers Tane a flyer but he says he doesn’t like all the acts. Sonny appears as Tane leaves and tells Dana he got another message from Leah. Dana thinks he should block her but Sonny worries that there might be a genuine cry for help.

Eddie and Jo have gone back to the beach house to get things for the beach trip. Jo seems a bit distracted. Eddie starts kissing her and she awkwardly says David will be back any second, just as David himself calls out. Eddie leaves Jo alone to change and goes to chat to David. Eddie wonders what the deal is between Jo and Tane, saying he knows there was a thing but he’s beginning to think it went on longer than Jo said. David simply tells him that he’d be better off asking Jo. Later, David remarks on Eddie being committed to the music and says he and Jo broke up once before. Eddie says he didn’t want to put pressure on her. David wonders where Eddie went. Jo reappears and she and Eddie leave.

Leah rather abruptly serves Alf at the Diner. Justin comes in and Alf greets him. He says he, Remi and Sonny are off again this afternoon. Leah picks up on the fact Sonny was with him and Justin comments on her still being obsessed with him. Shortly after, Leah is chatting to Marilyn in the kitchen. Marilyn tries to get Leah to make up with Justin, saying he’s a good man and her husband. Back in the main Diner, Justin tells Alf it was foolish to think anything would have changed with Leah. Leah asks where they’re going and Justin says back to the city.

Eddie and Jo are relaxing on the beach but their kiss is interrupted by Sonny and Dana. Dana and Jo go for a drink. Remi stumbles across Eddie and Sonny and is annoyed to see them laying about instead of making arrangements with the sound tech, announcing a group meeting at Salt. Sonny and Eddie trail him and run into Tane at the surf club. Sonny checks Tane has met Eddie, saying he’s now playing the main stage. After a bit of an awkward silence, Tane congratulates him.

Justin, Sonny, Remi and Eddie gather in Salt. Justin and Remi argue that while the gig is great, they need to make sure it’s a success to help Eddie’s career. Remi gives Eddie the set list and Justin decides to go and pack. Sonny asks him about Leah and admits she’s been messaging him. Justin is even more keen to keep her away from the festival. At the Diner, Leah is complaining to Marilyn about Sonny not responding to any of her texts. Marilyn suggests he’s busy or needs some distance. Leah starts worrying that something’s happened to him and ends up walking out mid-shift.

Jo and Dana comment on still needing to pack. Jo sees Tane and goes over to him. She apologises for before but says they shouldn’t have coffee like that again. She’s decided they can’t even be friends. David sees them together. At the beach house, Eddie asks David if he still has his blessing to propose to Jo. David just says that a lot’s happened since he gave that permission and it’s up to Jo.

Leah turns up at the surf club and asks Alf if he’s seen Sonny. Alf tries to get her to sit down but Leah sees one of the flyers and realises that if Eddie’s at the festival then Sonny and Justin must be going there too. At the Diner, Justin and Marilyn talk about the way Leah’s relying on Sonny and how it seems unhealthy. Leah turns up with an awkward Alf in tow and asks Justin if the city he’s going to is Broken Hill and if he’s going there by train like the flyer says. Justin admits he is and Leah says she’s going too.
